Please sit in a comfortable position and allow yourself to relax.
Just relax.
Be as easeful and at rest as you possibly can be.
Allow your muscles to relax.
Allow yourself to become heavy in the chair or on the floor,
Wherever you're sitting.
Just let your body settle.
Allow yourself to become particularly aware of any thoughts that are moving through your mind.
Most of us often are bothered by mental chatter.
Our minds are always talking to us,
Often critiquing us,
Judging us,
Second guessing every decision.
Allow yourself to become gently aware of any thoughts moving through your mind,
Just allowing them to rise up and pass away.
Do your best not to respond or react in any way to any of the thoughts.
Just relax.
Remain at rest.
Let the aroma of thought You might find yourself getting lost in thought,
Getting so focused on one of the arising thoughts that you forget everything else,
Including the fact that you're meditating.
Every time you get lost in thought,
Return to the meditation,
Return to being relaxed,
Return to simply allowing the thoughts to come and go,
Floating past the mind's eye without responding or reacting to them in any way at all.
Most of us find it difficult to remain consistently free from the stream of thought and the unending mental chatter of the mind.
So please try this.
For the rest of this meditation,
Continue to pay attention to thoughts as they arise and pass through the mind.
But now,
Imagine that those thoughts are speaking to you in a language you don't understand.
They're no longer meaningful.
It's just a string of sounds.
Pretend that you don't understand the language of your own thoughts and see how easy it is to ignore them when you don't pay attention to their meaning.
Nothing is as maneuverable as you leave it to come back down into a state you hate.
Continue as they arise.
