'Sa Ta Na Ma' is a Sanskrit phrase used in chanting. Each syllable represents the important elements of existence: infinity, life, death and rebirth. The individual sounds come from the words Sat Nam, meaning 'Truth is my identity'. One should not be caught up in the exact meaning of the words however. Instead, using these very primal sounds, one can quiet the thinking, and reach a state of calm, emotional balance. These sounds suggest the early sounds a baby makes. Consequently, Jeff has composed a melody that is very simple and easily learned. It would function well as a lullaby for children. On the other hand, we must not to so proud of ourselves as adults, that we neglect the power of lullabies for ourselves.
