Hello beautiful souls,
This is June Bee and welcome to an amazing night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series Bedtime Tales with June Bee.
Join me as Oliver and I are out and about in the rain and all the things we will discover on our journey to sleep.
So let's get into your favorite sleeping position,
Making sure you are comfortable.
Close your eyes,
Relax your muscles and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing,
Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Last time breathe in,
Breathe out,
Settle in now,
Relax and get comfortable,
Listen to the sound of my voice.
If your mind wanders,
It's okay,
Bring it back to the sound of my voice.
Let go of everything that has happened today and let's go on our journey together.
So it has been raining for a while now and Oliver and I decided to go out into the rain and have an adventure.
Now Oliver,
Being only seven,
Loves to splash about and have fun with his welly boots on.
So we are all tucked up with our cagoules on,
Which is what we call a raincoat in the UK.
And off we go on our adventure in the rain.
We are splashing about through the streets and every time Oliver sees a puddle,
He gives it a run up and then jumps,
Splash and in he goes,
Splashing into the water and giggling with delight.
I must admit,
He is making me feel like a little kid all over again and every time he runs and splashes,
I wait a minute and then there I am,
Running behind him as he watches me with wonder and delight.
I make a massive jump and splash.
The water is everywhere.
Oh,
What fun.
This is better than any playtime indoors as we are not only enjoying nature,
We are having fun and getting exercise all at the same time.
Who would have thought being out in the rain would be so much fun with unbeatable smiles and oodles of laughter.
So right at this minute,
I am so happy and feeling like I'm really embracing my inner child,
As we all should whenever we get the chance.
Oliver is such a great example of a brave and confident little man and he is encouraging me to have so much more fun than I usually do in the rain.
So,
We are all giggled out at present while the rain is dripping off our noses and we try to use our tongues to lick the water off our noses as it falls.
Have you ever tried to touch your nose with your tongue without bursting into laughter?
Well,
I think it is near on impossible.
After all this fun,
We take the time to make our way back home for a warm shower and a cup of creamy hot chocolate as a treat.
As we are walking by some bushes,
We both hear a little cry.
We look around to see where it is coming from and in the bushes,
There's a little puppy.
Oh,
He is shivering and all wet trying to get shelter under a tree.
As we watch the puppy,
Oliver looks at me and I know what he's saying without any words being shared.
He wants to make sure the puppy is all right,
As do I.
I love dogs and we both have to make sure this beautiful little puppy is okay here in the pouring rain.
We both look around and don't see anyone,
So I tell Oliver to stand back a minute as I slowly go up to the puppy with my hand stretched out and it sniffs the air as I approach.
I kneel down with my hand outstretched and then the puppy comes up to me tentatively and licks my hand.
What a sweetheart!
So now that the puppy is feeling safer,
I scoop him up and check if he has a collar.
There is one with his name on and his name is Teddy,
The cutest little Jack Russell you have ever seen.
All cold and afraid.
Well,
We put a stop to that right away and to the joy and delight on Oliver's face,
We brought Teddy home.
When I got home,
I checked out the collar fully and saw there was a phone number there and I gave it a call.
On the other end of the line was a lady who sounded so sad as she had lost her puppy earlier in the rain.
She looked for him for hours and eventually gave up as she was soaked and decided to go home ready to try again in the morning as it was starting to get dark.
I told her we had found him,
He was safe and she could come over and collect him.
Until she got there,
Teddy,
I assured her was in good hands.
I gave her our address and put the phone down.
As I turned around,
I saw Oliver had used a towel to dry Teddy off and the two of them were now playing catch in the front room in front of a nice warm and toasty fire.
Oh,
What a beautiful sight!
As Oliver threw the ball,
Teddy would run for it and bring it back,
Although he wouldn't let it out of his grip,
So the two of them would wrestle until Oliver pulled it out of his mouth and then the game would start over again.
I left them to play with a big smile on my face and warmth in my heart.
After a few hours,
I heard a knock at the door and there was Teddy's owner.
I let her in.
As soon as I opened the door,
She gave me the biggest hug.
So sweet!
We went over to where Oliver and Teddy were and saw the most wonderful sight.
The two of them had worn each other out and were curled up together in front of the fire,
Sleeping.
Such precious moments!
As I lifted Teddy up,
Oliver woke up and looked sad.
He was losing a new friend.
Well,
The owner only lived around the corner and she said Oliver could come by any time to visit Teddy,
Take him out for a walk and play games with him and that cheered up Oliver a treat.
We talked about Teddy so many times after that and it always brought back a smile to our faces when we thought about meeting Teddy and our adventure in the rain.
A beautiful end to a lovely,
Fun and wet day.
I'm not sure about you.
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it,
So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away,
Have yourself a great night's sleep.
Looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with June B.
Good night!
