Freedom begins in your mind.

Let's take a few moments to stop and look.

To watch your thinking process.

You will notice yourself creating thoughts in the form of ideas,

Images,

Concepts,

And then projecting these up onto the screen of your mind.

From there,

They travel as invisible vibrations outwards.

First into your body and then out into the world where they will have an effect on the mental atmosphere and on any object on which they are focused.

Even other people's thoughts become your thoughts as you bring them into your consciousness.

Put them up on the screen of your mind and give them life.

Then they become your thoughts.

Now,

Disassociate your identity from your thoughts.

Thoughts are thoughts.

They are not you.

You are not identified by your thoughts,

Let alone those of others.

You are not your past mistakes.

You are not your feelings either.

Thoughts,

Feelings,

Memories come and go.

But you,

The being,

Remain.

And when you realize that you are not defined by these,

There is a great sense of freedom.

You are free to be yourself again.

Thank you Jay for the reminder that I am not my thoughts nor my past behaviours - very timely after losing my cool at work last night. Apologize and move on. And serendipity!! On my walk home from my where I was meditating outside I bumped into my co-worker who bore the brunt of my outburst so I was able to apologize in person right after my meditation and we could laugh about it. 😊

I find confirmation here in what you are speaking about. I have the belief that we are not our feelings, emotions or thoughts, yet it’s a fairly new concept in my adult life, not one I was raised in. I love embodying this way of life. It feels so freeing. I am still navigating through the challenges of it, yet it resonates so deeply in me as truth. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ¦‹ thank you!
