You are not one thing.
You know this already.
Right now,
In this moment,
There's probably a part of you that's glad to be here,
And a part of you that's already somewhere else.
A part that's curious about this practice,
And a part that's skeptical.
Maybe a part that's tired.
And another that's quietly holding something it hasn't put down in a while.
That's not a problem.
That's just what it is to be a person.
Let the breath settle you.
Feel the weight of the body.
Let your attention drop below the thinking mind.
Into the body.
You've been here before.
Feel the ground beneath you.
Let that be the foundation for everything that follows.
You're held.
You're here.
And there's room for whatever shows up.
Gently,
See if you can notice what's most present right now.
Not the most important thing.
Just the loudest.
The part of you with the most charge in this moment.
It might be a feeling.
A tension somewhere in the body.
A throbbing.
Whatever it is,
Just let it be seen.
Not to analyze it.
Not to fix it.
Just to acknowledge it.
In Buddhist practice,
There's a quality called clear seeing.
Seeing what's actually here.
Without adding to it or pushing it away.
Just that.
I see you.
You're here.
Notice that you can see it.
Which means there's something in you that's doing the seeing.
That part.
The one that's aware,
That's noticing.
That's not the same as what's being noticed.
You are not only the part that's activated right now.
You're also the one who can observe it.
See if you can move very slightly into that observing place.
Not away from what you found.
You're not abandoning it.
Just a little more room.
Like stepping from inside a room into the doorway.
Still present.
Just a little more space to breathe.
Here.
Get curious about that part of you.
Not therapeutic.
Not problem-solving.
Just what is it carrying right now?
You don't have to answer.
Just ask.
And let the body answer.
Maybe one that's been quiet.
Waiting.
Maybe one that feels safe.
Just notice something about the part you found.
Relief.
Resistance.
Care.
Just notice what's here without requiring any of it to resolve.
It's the part of you that's been present this whole time.
The one listening.
Noticing.
Aware.
In some traditions,
This is called original nature.
In others,
Simply awareness itself.
It doesn't need a name.
You can feel it right now as the thing that's doing the noticing.
Rest in that for a moment.
Let the parts be here.
You don't have to unify them or get them to agree.
The spaciousness that holds them is already whole.
It already knows how to be with all of it.
When you're ready,
Let it deeper for yourself.
Rather than just being swept along by it.
That's a practice.
It takes time.
