Thanks be for a new day.
The earth thanks the sky for the recent rains,
Holding the precious water tenderly in puddles that reflect back the still gray sky.
A late drop falls into the puddle,
Sending ripples to the tiny shores.
Everything is in miniature and thus without a sound.
One drop on the ocean of puddle,
Then another still in silence.
Each one starts a circle of life that ripples to the edges and kisses the shore quietly.
Only in this physical world can we experience these truths,
How one movement leads to others,
How interdependent our world is.
As you breathe in this morning silence,
Notice how your breath kisses all the shores of your body.
Touch of any kind,
Even from the past or future,
Stirs feeling in this,
The present.
Let your feelings stir up,
Stir around,
And overflow the shores.
This great silent hand or breath from without or within is the spirit of life itself,
Touching and breathing you,
Breathing into your essence,
So that you may have the life of this day.
May you be quiet enough today to feel the breath of life.
Your gift today is ripples.
