Welcome to another guided meditation with Ivy and Light.

On any health or personal growth journey,

One of the most important things you can do to speed your journey is to fully understand the purpose and benefits of any tools you're working with.

So today,

We're going to do a mindfulness meditation to get to know a new essential oil,

Sitting quietly and noticing with intention what I am experiencing in this moment.

So let's try that together.

Grab any essential oil or oil blend that you don't know very well.

It's either brand new to you,

Or you have yet to work with it purposefully.

Before we begin,

Sit down quietly and get comfortable.

And now take your essential oil and place a couple of drops in the palm of your hand.

Rub your palms together three times in a clockwise motion.

This helps to give energy and direction to the essential oils.

Now close your eyes and take your hands,

Place them gently over your nose and mouth and breathe in deeply and breathe out,

Breathe in again and breathe out.

One more time,

All the way to your tailbone,

Breathe in and breathe out.

With each breath,

You invite more and more essential oil molecules into your body so they can begin their healing work.

As you continue to breathe deeply yet comfortably,

We're going to ask ourselves a few important questions.

Question one,

What scents can you pick out?

If this is a single essential oil,

Does it smell just like the plant or does it smell different in its essential oil form?

If it's a blend,

What do you notice about the different pieces of the blend,

The different scents within that are creating this harmony?

Continue to breathe deeply and meditate on this question.

And now that we have thousands of tiny essential oil molecules flowing throughout our body,

Ask yourself the second question,

How does it feel within my body as I breathe in this oil?

Warm or cold,

Tingling sensations,

Anything you notice within your physical body that has changed,

That has heightened,

That has subsided with the breathing of this oil.

There's no right or wrong answer.

Just notice,

How do I feel as I continue to breathe in this oil?

And now that we know how this oil makes us feel on a physical level,

Let's consider our emotions.

How have my emotions shifted as I breathed in this oil?

Do I feel calmer?

Am I more energized?

Do I feel more open or more grounded?

There are no right or wrong answers.

This is your personal reaction to this oil.

Continue to breathe deeply as you consider,

How does this oil make you feel on an emotional level?

Essential oils can also bring up memories from inside our brain storage system.

So our final question is,

Are there any memories that come up as you smell this essential oil?

Allow your mind to drift back to earlier days.

It could be last year,

Could be a decade ago,

It could be childhood.

As you breathe in the oil,

Do any visions or emotions from past times come to your mind?

And now you have met your essential oil,

You have a better understanding of how it affects you physically and emotionally,

And any memories that it conjures up for you.

Let us breathe in one more time together,

And breathe out.

Take a moment to thank your essential oil for these beneficial effects.

Take a moment to lock into your memory these feelings,

So that you know next time you use this essential oil,

What its benefits will be.

You may also choose at the end of this meditation to write down the effects and benefits,

So that you have a quick reminder next time you're looking for a specific benefit,

And you'll be able to come right to this essential oil.
