Your journey into self-forgiveness begins here.
Listen to this prose meditation when you can be alone and able to reflect on your life,
On what you need to forgive,
And on the feelings of peace that rise up,
That fill your heart,
That allow you to feel relief,
To have comfort,
To remember that you are an incredible being.
With your eyes closed,
Sitting or lying comfortably,
Let your body come to stillness.
Feel the softness of breath,
Your breath.
Feel the softness of breath,
Your breath.
Hold presence here.
Witness to the rise and fall in each new precious moment.
And its beautiful nature,
The ease to which you feel breath as movement,
Fluid,
Resilient,
Free.
Be here for a time in this experience of your breath.
Now with your eyes gently closed,
Notice what's happening.
Notice what sensations are present.
Feel these in your body.
Notice their placement.
Accept these.
Notice how even the sensations that you feel make subtle changes.
They remind you of flow,
Of all that is transient,
Ever-changing.
Your breath is where it's supposed to be.
Now let yourself call to mind and experience a memory,
A time of which you wish to offer forgiveness to yourself.
A harsh word spoken inward or aloud,
Relentless pressure you may have placed unto yourself,
A lack of kindness or care,
Or perhaps a thought or action that was directed unto another and of which you feel remorse.
You don't need to name this,
Only to acknowledge that it is time to offer self-forgiveness.
You do this slowly,
In stages of care,
Of paying attention to the feeling of kindness In self-forgiveness,
You first acknowledge what thoughts,
Words,
And actions you recognize to be not of your highest or ideal self.
In moments when you felt alone,
Sad,
Troubled,
As you may have been struggling yourself,
And when you are not living of your light,
You may succumb to moments in which you choose out of darkness,
Despair,
Dishonesty,
Rather than of your perfect nature as love.
In moments when you have not been at your best,
You will have perhaps acted out of hardness,
Intolerance,
Incapable in these moments to witness your true essence as light,
Rising up and filling your being.
In these moments,
And as you witness yourself in the truth of the present moment,
You realize that there is nothing to fear,
To worry,
To feel anger,
For these and other emotions come only out of thoughts that you hold.
They are not your true reality.
Your true reality is the light of your heart that opens you to witness all of the beauty and abundance of life,
Always present if you choose to witness it.
Begin with this knowledge that you are capable of living in a way that is peaceful and loving and of your highest good.
Begin with this knowledge because this is the truth.
As you hold this wisdom and as you honor it,
You begin to make new choices.
You envision what is possible.
Your choices are honest and integral to what you are choosing to be.
To live uplifted,
To surround yourself with others who are kind and loving.
To honor your need for resilience of your heart.
For forgiveness of what is not truly who you are.
And for choosing to be this,
To be more alike your true nature.
As kindness and love in action.
This is your destiny.
Choose it and choose to forgive as you acknowledge the will of your highest self,
Always present,
Always seeking abundance and joy.
Always willing to be kind and compassionate.
Your heart and what you must follow now is the knowledge that you always choose.
To forgive what choices were not made with your heart and to,
In the very next moment,
Choose this instead.
Your forgiveness becomes permission to choose now the actions that will illuminate your goodness.
Let this be your new practice,
Forgiveness first and then the choice to live now of your highest honor.
For what you have sought to forgive,
Now decide your future action to making amends,
To living with your heart open,
To offering the true light of your soul,
Shining brightly for yourself and all others.
This is self-forgiveness.
This is love in action.
Now take your time to internalize what you have just experienced.
Make it your purpose.
Make it your practice to listen again,
To listen often.
As you hold lightness in your heart always.
Namaste.
