Here is an uncomfortable truth.
Growth is supposed to feel uncomfortable,
Which sounds obvious until you are actually in the middle of it and it feels terrible and you are wondering whether this is growth or whether you have simply made a series of many poor decisions.
Here's the thing.
Personal growth has something of a marketing problem.
It tends to be sold in books,
In courses,
In beautifully lit social media content as expansive and energizing and empowering.
And it is.
Eventually.
Once you are through the particular stage you are currently in,
But right in the middle of it,
Right in the thick of actually changing,
It often doesn't feel like any one of those things.
It feels like.
.
.
Standing at the edge of something without being sure the ground will hold it feels like Being slightly too big for the life you have been living without yet fully being the one.
You are moving toward.
It feels like the in-between,
Not quite who you were,
Not quite who you are becoming,
And the in-between is deeply uncomfortable for almost everyone.
And this is exactly where most people stop,
Not because the thing they are doing is wrong for them.
But because the discomfort feels like a signal that it is wrong.
Because we have been conditioned to treat discomfort as a stop sign.
Rather than a tool booth per se.
Something to pay and move through,
Rather than something that means turn around and go back.
If it feels easy,
You are probably rearranging the furniture,
Moving the same patterns around,
Giving them new names,
Redecorating the inside of the same old house.
Comfortable,
Familiar,
Unchanged.
But real growth has a different texture.
It asks something of you that you are not entirely sure you can deliver.
It requires you to act before you feel ready because feeling ready is a feeling that comes after,
Not before.
You have done the thing.
It sits you in rooms where you don't quite belong yet and asks you to stay anyway.
Here is the question worth asking.
When discomfort shows up.
Not,
Does this feel hard?
Everything worth doing feels hard at some point.
The question is,
Does this feel hard because it is wrong for me or because it is new and unfamiliar?
Those are very different kinds of heart,
And only one of them is worth walking away from.
And this is your moment of truth for today.
