Saw Myint shares her personal journey of healing from childhood trauma and mental health challenges through practical, non-religious insights inspired by Buddhist teachings. Throughout, Saw Myint stresses human imperfection ("we're all a little crazy"), the value of feeling emotions without dragging them on, comparing oneself only to one's past self, and letting go repeatedly for a balanced, happier life. She avoids dogma, aligns teachings with universal science, and a warm reminder: good and bad feelings pass—feel them, then move on and let go.

Hey,

Just a brief disclaimer for this upcoming episode.

When she uses this Step 2 technique that basically kind of arrives at a concept,

A perception of nothing is real,

Everything is an image.

She'll go into detail,

I don't want to spoil too much,

But as with any of these types of things in spirituality,

Even though it came up at the time I didn't say it,

That it needs to be taken with ethics and it's not an excuse to behave however you want or do anything you want because nothing is real,

It's all a dream,

So who cares what I think,

Say and do.

It doesn't matter if everything isn't real,

Like a dream,

Right?

That's not what we're saying,

So there needs to be a strong commitment to non-harming and ethics when we take on a concept or perception like this,

And you'll see the relevance as she explains it into the episode,

So thanks and enjoy.

Hello,

Hey,

This is Josh from Integrating Presence,

And today I have Saw Mint with me.

So how's it going today?

Good,

Good,

Good.

The sun is shining over here at 11,

10 past 11 a.

M.

In Sydney,

Australia.

Everything good?

How's everyone?

Yeah,

Thanks for having me here,

Josh.

You're welcome,

And so I was from Burma,

Myanmar,

And where my meditation teacher happens to be from too,

So I'm glad to speak with her,

And yeah,

We talked a little bit before about politics,

We're not going to get into that today.

So who is Saw?

What kind of work does she do?

Okay,

So it's just a lady.

I am 52 years old.

I have a husband and a son and a girl.

The son is 30 years old,

The girl is 17.

I'm CBA qualified.

I got to Australia when I was 17,

Now I'm 52.

I used to do accounting,

But for the past 10 years,

I've been mortgage-broking.

Lately,

I get involved in property development,

Et cetera,

As my way up to retirement so I could do more charity,

But I'm here to talk about my passion,

Okay?

It's all about mental health,

And Buddha helped me,

But I'm not in any way distributing religion,

But I want to appreciate who helped me.

That's why I mentioned his name,

But I also suffered a mental health issue when I was young,

And I was so young,

Under 10,

That I didn't know how to get help.

Now I learned enough that I forgive,

Forget,

And I go over,

And that's why I wanted to help others what I can.

Not everyone's going to resonate with me,

I understand,

But I'm here,

Out there,

Opening up my story to help others,

Okay?

Well,

Great.

Yeah,

So many people that get interested in Buddhism,

There's other reasons,

But a lot of people I meet is what I call the Dukkha door,

Right?

Come through the Dukkha door when things get really,

Let's just say,

Really challenging,

And there's no way to deny it anymore.

That's kind of how I did,

But what would you say,

What do you feel comfortable sharing about your story,

And then how did you address it,

And maybe how did some of the Buddha's teachings help with that?

It's okay if we do talk about Orthodox,

Or modern Buddhism,

Or whatever,

But I don't even like to use the word ism,

That's a Western thing.

To me,

I just look at it as,

Okay,

Here's a very wise being,

Or even beyond that,

Right?

It means awake,

And this is,

He shared some things,

And he said,

Go check it out for yourself.

To me,

It's just,

Okay,

This is reality,

This is how I,

This is the best,

Seeing things for how they actually are,

And then the best way to go about it.

That's how I look at it,

Not as a religion,

You know,

Because there's nothing to believe,

You don't have to believe anything.

No,

No,

See it for yourself,

That's what he said,

You know,

Like nobody helping you,

No God helping you,

We got to help ourselves,

But he gave us the strategy,

And we have to practice to find ourselves,

You know,

We're looking outside,

You know,

We're finding others every day,

But what about you?

And like,

People who are successful,

Who are busy,

Also busy,

Busy,

But we never look at ourselves,

So we don't usually look after ourselves,

So we die young,

Etc.

So,

It's just a thing about balancing,

You still have to live your life,

Etc.

So,

In the beginning,

What you said,

In my story,

I don't mind sharing,

Okay,

They see me as a woman,

You know,

Whatever I say,

However I look,

I look,

I don't look really sexy,

Right,

But then people still see me as a woman,

But here,

I think you guys have the right audience,

So that helped me,

You know,

So,

Yeah,

And Buddha even said,

You know,

Like he said,

There's only sand,

Like the soil,

And the water in the world,

Okay,

There's a lot of soil in the world,

But he was only able to help handful of soil,

You know,

So,

You know,

What he teach is not a religion,

It's the facts of life,

But not everyone will resonate with him,

Same here,

You know,

I'm not saying any method is right or wrong,

There's different way,

And different people resonate with different things,

I'm here,

Out there,

Even if I could help one person,

You know,

Because I needed help,

And I didn't know how to get help,

And in every developed country,

There's a lot of,

Like,

Helpline,

I think we should promote more,

You know,

People who need help,

They're too scared to come to you,

We have to be like,

Come,

Come,

Come,

You know,

They may be adult,

I was a child,

You know,

Child don't naturally know,

But even if you are adult,

You,

People who are suffering,

Especially mental health and that,

It's a very gray area,

They don't know how to get help,

They're very confused,

We got to promote our health,

You know,

That's why I'm here to do what I can,

Okay,

Also,

I think we should promote helpline,

Et cetera,

Every developed country has all these helpline,

Right,

Yeah,

Even Australia,

Australia is very safe with gun,

Et cetera,

All these fighting,

And gun,

I don't know what you call,

You know,

Yeah,

I don't know what they call,

But there was Sydney famous beach,

Bondi,

You know,

There was a terror attack last week,

A week ago or so,

Yeah,

15 Jewish people died,

A lot of people injured,

So it's all to do with mental health,

Okay,

Back to my story,

Okay,

Is it too long,

You want me to go on,

Is it?

No,

I would just,

I'll just echo that,

You know,

Well-being,

You know,

The,

I don't know if you're referring to the sutta,

The handful of leaves,

You know,

Where he said,

He took the monks to the forest,

You know,

What's more in my hand,

The leaves in my hand are the leaves in the forest,

Of course,

There's the leaves in the forest,

But in his hand,

He said,

But this is,

I know everything,

Or,

You know,

My knowledge is as fast as all the leaves in the forest,

But all I teach is this handful of leaves,

Suffering and the end of suffering,

Or dukkha and the end of dukkha,

Or we could say stress and the end of stress,

Or even unsatisfactoriness and the end of unsatisfactoriness,

That gets more subtle,

But yeah,

Stress,

People can relate with this,

Right,

And where do we turn,

So this is about well-being,

Right,

And living a good quality life more and more for our own benefit and for that of others,

And eventually all beings,

Hopefully,

You know,

Since we're all interconnected,

And especially in the long term,

Too,

You know,

We really get more spiritual,

And then we think even more long-term than just,

You know,

This life even,

Maybe we can be open to that,

Too,

So yeah,

Yeah,

Totally in agreement here,

It's about,

Because if we don't have that,

Then all the other aspects of our life are gonna not be as good as they could be,

Or not be as beneficial as they could be,

So this is core,

You know,

Of all the things he could have done,

He honed in on this stress and the end of stress as the most important thing,

So yeah,

So yeah,

And then if you want to make it kind of relatable in your own story,

You don't have to really share much,

But then how you dealt with whatever you dealt with,

Too,

And how you helped people,

Yeah.

Yeah,

Yeah,

I went into too much,

And I didn't get there.

What I was trying to say is,

He tried to help the world,

But only a handful of people get in,

So,

You know,

Because also I said in my bio,

Etc.

,

You've got to be open-minded and face the facts of life,

And don't see this as a religion.

It's just a way of,

You know,

Like just one of the practices to make your mind happy,

Healthy,

So it will help the rest,

Like if your mind is healthy,

And it'll help your body and everything you do,

Etc.

,

Yeah,

That's what we're trying to do,

And what he said is,

You know,

I think also because a lot of people are comfortable,

You know,

If we think we got everything,

Then we don't really look for the answer,

You know,

Western world,

Even if you don't work,

There's welfare,

Etc.

,

Right,

But only when you think you have a challenge,

You know,

You're not comfortable,

You find the answer,

Right,

Maybe that's why a lot of people missed out,

Because they feel too comfortable,

Right,

The government help,

Etc.

,

But then,

Yeah,

I was lucky enough,

I had suffered,

I had challenges,

That's why I searched the answer,

And I'm not a saint yet,

But I got to the stage that I can fix myself,

You know,

That's why I'm here to help,

Okay.

What happened to me is when I was young,

Under 10,

I can't remember exactly how old I was,

I had my parents,

I've never been rich,

But I've never been poor,

I was comfortable,

My government gave my late dad a big home,

As long as he holds the position,

So like a lot of my mom's relatives come and live with us,

And there was my mom's younger sister,

Single lady,

My auntie,

She lived in my parents' home,

But she treated me like a little slave,

Little helper,

Little servant,

And nobody owned me.

People see me as I follow her everywhere,

I don't know how I end up there,

But she should know what is in my best interest,

You know,

Like she lived at my place,

She knows my mom,

Like,

You know,

I don't know,

I was put in the situation,

I don't know how to get out,

She asked me to do her job,

You know,

I remember like washing her undies,

Ironing for her,

Passing her things when she's getting ready to go to work,

Yeah.

So you were saying your aunt was kind of taking advantage of like child labor,

Where was your,

Can I ask your mom,

How come your mother didn't say anything,

Or did you go to your mom?

She didn't know,

It was a big home,

Too many people,

My parents are always fighting,

She didn't pay too much attention to me,

It's okay,

You know,

That's why now I do whatever is in my,

In the best interest of my children,

You know,

I put up with anything so that my children are always happy,

Because I've been there,

Suffered,

You know,

And,

You know,

I think that's why people,

Especially developed countries,

Say,

Like,

Be careful how you treat children,

They don't know,

But they remember,

It's definitely for a long time,

You know,

You think they don't know,

But,

You know,

They have suffered,

They remember,

Like,

I did,

I turned into religion,

But what if I turn into drugs and,

You know,

Everything that bad for me,

You know,

So yeah,

I needed help,

I don't know how to get help,

I don't even know how to open up my,

To my mother,

Because she wasn't close to me,

That's why I'm saying,

When you are someone who are helpful,

We got to promote our help,

People who need help,

They're confused,

They don't know how to get help,

I was a child,

Even if you're an adult,

If your mind is in,

You know,

Like,

Depressed,

Confused mode,

You're not there,

You know what I mean,

So,

But then,

But then a few years later,

My dad come here to Australia,

So we,

You know,

We moved to smaller homes,

So my,

My auntie,

Yeah,

She bought an apartment,

She moved out,

So that was over five,

Almost a few years,

But then,

You know,

I was in my mind back then,

Like,

I always wanted to be free,

But don't forget,

The positive thing is,

She made me a business woman,

She made me able to put up with customers,

People like,

You know,

And I am,

I have a decent education,

But I'm not,

I have no pride in me,

So that's why people like me,

You know,

She make me the person I am,

I thank her for that,

But then I also treated the right way,

What if I,

I took drugs and,

You know,

All the other thing,

Alcohol,

Blah,

Blah,

Blah,

And I'll go down,

Because I have suffered,

You know,

Buddha helped me,

So because of that,

Since I was 20 years old,

I was always there for people part-time,

I still have to work,

You know,

Study,

Et cetera,

But I didn't have much money,

So with my money,

My time,

My skill,

My connection,

Even to the stranger,

People who come across to me,

Especially in my country,

People,

You know,

They,

They try to settle here,

Or people over there,

I send money,

Et cetera,

Since I was 20,

Now I'm 52,

When I was 30,

I found religion,

I become religious,

And slowly helped me recover,

Right,

That's why I'm here to help others,

You know,

I've been doing a lot of charity,

But then later I found that people never had enough,

Even if you help them with other things,

So I found,

I want to help people with this,

This is like you giving,

You know,

Something that you can't attach money to,

If,

If I could help someone with their mindset,

Et cetera,

They will help themselves,

Be successful,

Whatever they want,

Right,

In business sense,

Right,

If you have no stress,

That means no limit,

You can fly anywhere you want,

You know,

In life,

If you know how to handle the stress,

You have a happy life,

Whatever happened to you,

Whether someone leave you,

You devolve you,

You are dying,

Whatever,

It's all in your mind,

You know,

Our body,

We are dying,

Okay,

That's,

That's also wake me up,

That's why my charity is called Wake Up,

Okay,

My accountant thought,

Oh,

This word too simple,

Maybe there's other people already taking it,

Because it's too simple,

Nobody taking it,

Right,

I was able to get this name,

Wake Up,

Right,

Wake Up,

What I mean is,

Um,

What I'm trying to say,

And now I'm a bit lost,

So,

Um,

Yeah,

So,

All of a sudden,

You,

You are going to say,

Oh,

The,

The name behind your charity,

I mean,

This is a classic spiritual thing,

Waking up,

You know,

Um,

Yeah,

So,

Isn't it,

Uh,

Even in life,

You know,

If you stay in balance,

You know,

Then,

You know,

It'll help whatever you face,

Like,

You know,

Okay,

So,

The method I try to teach,

Which I learned from a monk a few years ago,

I think it's kind of lost in translation,

Buddha teaching,

But kind of lost in translation,

So,

If you are Buddhist or something,

You might not even find this method,

Okay,

There's two steps,

I'll let you know first easy step,

What he said is,

Okay,

Before that,

What,

Um,

Wake me up,

Yeah,

That's what I was trying to say,

Um,

Now I got over,

But what wake me up is that we could die any moment,

Okay,

All of us,

We look different,

But we all the same inside,

We all warm-blooded members,

Okay,

And we could die any moment,

That wakes me up,

You know,

So,

That's why I'm here to tell others,

Most of us are comfortable,

You know,

Even if we don't work,

Government help us,

Right,

But then,

Knowing that whatever we have don't last forever,

Wake up,

But then,

I'm not saying this to let you down,

Just face the fact,

So,

You can live with yourself,

You know,

Because every day,

So,

The monk teach two steps,

Easiest step is what it is,

Is every day,

While you're living your life,

There's only good and bad things happen to you,

Okay,

What you,

What you realize is they don't last,

Okay,

So,

Okay,

Good thing,

Right,

Okay,

Good food,

Good drugs,

Good sex,

Do they ever last,

Just a few minutes,

Right,

What it lasts is memory,

Imagination,

Your attachment,

Right,

Bad thing,

Someone leave you,

Someone die,

You know,

Terror attack,

Flood,

I don't know,

Earthquake,

Whatever,

Sickness,

Old age,

Yeah,

Yeah,

Sickness,

Old age,

Sorrow,

Grief,

Lamentation,

Despair,

Grief,

Yeah,

They also pass,

Pain,

How my auntie treated me,

Already gone,

What I'm dragging on is my memory,

You know,

And I can't go back and fix it,

Right,

It's the past,

What killing me is my memory,

My attachment,

My imagination,

Knowing that thing passed already,

I can't do it again,

And memory is a memory,

Not real,

Okay,

So,

Every day,

While you're living your life,

I'm not asking you to sit down and meditate,

I don't even meditate,

Because I got to,

I'm like a stubborn lady,

Okay,

I got to,

I'm more after strategy,

It got to make sense to me,

Whatever I do,

Okay,

So,

If you know the strategy,

You can practice,

Whatever you do,

You don't,

Because,

Yeah,

People can't even find five minutes to see themselves,

But we are living every second,

Right,

While you're living every moment,

You won't be able to catch every moment,

But when you're able to catch it,

See that good feeling,

Bad feeling,

Good thing happen to you,

They don't last,

Okay,

So,

Don't drag on about it,

See,

One billionaire tell me,

He's 70 years old,

He said,

If you could take me back to 35 year old self,

I give you everything I have,

So,

Because he can't,

You know,

If you're billionaire,

Know that you could go any moment,

You know,

So,

Good thing don't last,

Bad thing,

You know,

Well,

It already passed,

Right,

So,

If we don't,

If we are open-minded,

Face the facts,

You know,

Look at yourself,

Don't look at other,

Don't compare yourself with other,

Others are not you,

We have a different,

I don't know,

Environment,

We grow up different,

I mean,

You know,

We all the same inside,

But we have a different life,

Right,

So,

Just compare yourself yesterday to today,

And,

You know,

Try your best,

But,

And something not under control,

Don't drag on about it,

Even if you're,

If you are billionaire,

You could die any moment,

You know,

And even if you are dying,

You know,

Good,

Healthy person could die in front of you,

Before you,

Lucky,

If you have a cancer,

You know,

You'll die in a year,

Other healthy people,

They don't know when they're gonna die,

They could die tomorrow,

Before you,

Right,

So,

That's what Ang said,

You know,

Good thing,

Bad thing,

Don't get attached,

You know,

They all go,

Right,

That's the easy step,

That you can see,

Right,

If you look,

You got to look first,

And even the,

Even the Buddhists said that,

You know,

Just the time it takes to eat one bite of food,

We could be gone,

The time it takes for one breath,

There's no guarantee,

I mean,

Maybe there's some really adept meditators,

And yogis,

And psychics that know when they're gonna go,

But for most of us,

I mean,

I could have a heart attack,

I could drop over dead,

You know,

Bolt of light,

We don't know how we're gonna go,

Yeah,

And,

And there's no guarantee,

We don't know when,

We don't know where,

And we don't know how,

Usually,

So yeah.

Yeah,

Everybody appreciate their life,

Everybody,

Even the poor,

Whatever happened to them,

They don't want to lose their life,

Right,

That's the most precious thing,

That don't even last,

Also the bad thing,

People treat you bad,

You suffering,

You great,

But that also has passed,

Nothing you can do about it,

All I'm trying to say is have a balanced life,

Don't drag on anything that's good or bad,

They're all just a moment,

You know.

This is impermanence,

Right,

Anicca,

That you put it really down to earth,

That even positive and negative things,

You know,

They're all constantly arising,

Passing away,

That's right,

So yeah,

There's no need to get stuck on the past,

Like you said,

Because you can't go back and change it,

And even the good things,

How much satisfaction they're gonna bring,

And maybe for a few moments,

Or a day or two,

But then we'll be wanting the next thing,

And the next thing,

And the next thing,

You know,

They don't last either,

Nothing,

Nothing lasts forever,

Yeah.

Yeah,

But then we're not saying it,

We're still human,

We're still a little bit crazy,

We attack to our children,

Our loved ones,

It's okay,

But just be balanced,

Don't,

You know,

Go to one side or the other,

It's all about balancing,

Right,

Because we still have to live our life,

You know,

Normal craziness is okay,

It's still human,

But then,

You know what I mean,

That's what Buddha trying to teach,

Precisely,

But to see it,

You got to look at yourself,

You know,

And,

You know,

Be open-minded,

Be able to face the fact,

So there's always like criteria,

Like,

If you're not that kind of person,

Then Buddha can't really help,

I can't,

You know,

But that's only easy step,

If you look,

You can see this,

But there's another step,

Okay,

Another step we can't see,

That's why I'm trying to take it universal and making it scientific way,

Because I love science,

I believe in chemistry,

Physics,

You know,

Because science say,

Okay,

Science say,

Things are moving millions of time per second,

Okay,

And Buddha say,

There's only mind and body in the whole world,

We,

Well,

If to understand difficult subject,

We have to make things simple,

Okay,

He say,

If you look at it,

Only mind and body,

Your mind or other people's mind or other living mind or your body or other people's body or man living body,

That's all we have in the whole world,

Right,

And science say,

Mind and body are moving millions of time per second,

Okay,

So and there's only two feeling,

Good feeling,

Bad feeling,

Okay,

So when you feel good,

Your feeling have to base on something,

You're not weirdo,

It doesn't fit,

You know,

It has to base on something,

Right,

You're not crazy,

Just feeling weird or nothing,

So the feeling good or bad have to base on something,

That whatever you are based on,

When you feel that,

Because mind and body are moving millions of time per second,

We're playing catch up,

Whatever you based it on is already wrong or is non-living,

So we are feeling good about things that already passed,

We're feeling bad about things already passed,

What stick our mind is memory,

Imagination,

Reflection,

Copy,

Attachment,

All these things,

Okay,

Facing that,

You are judging me on my reflection,

We are in two different part of the world,

You can't see me,

I can't see you,

But we think it's here,

Right,

It's all these,

Our being human,

You know,

This is a little bit hard,

But you got to concentrate,

Okay,

You get it,

Do you want to put it in your own word,

Tell me.

You know,

I love this simplified version because,

You know,

I'm working with advanced meditative practitioners that are,

Their wisdom and concentration is so sharp,

They're able to see these kalapas,

You know,

These individual,

In Burma,

Myanmar is known for Abhidhamma,

The really deep,

Profound,

Advanced Buddhist psychology,

And these practitioners,

I'm not there yet,

They can see these when you deconstruct rupa or,

You know,

Matter as far down as it can be subdivided,

There's supposedly these things called kalapas that are ceaselessly arising and passing,

Like you said,

Millions or,

I mean,

I think it's mapped out in Abhidhamma how fast it actually is,

And so it just blows my mind,

It makes my heart just fill with joy that they can see these in their own wisdom with the light of wisdom,

Ceaselessly arising and passing away,

And each one even has its own characteristics,

I mean,

But we don't need to at least see that and know that in our own experience,

I mean,

That's where I'm actually aiming for,

But what you're saying here is I love the simplified,

Relatable version of this,

That because we're not basically sharp enough or wise enough to see this,

Even though science corroborates this,

Right?

We're too slow,

Right?

So we have to use a concept to kind of grapple with this because my wisdom isn't sharp enough to see this,

But some people can,

And they're very wise,

And I take their word for it,

But this is how I can connect with what they're doing right now,

That everything is so quick that there's like this lag or delay,

And so all we have left is this kind of concept or this almost like illusion or dream or delay,

Right?

You're just waiting for the echo to stop,

And then wait,

And then talk,

And then it's like a delay on the line,

And then the other person has to wait,

And even though we're going on,

They're sitting there waiting for the word to happen.

We've experienced this maybe on a bad connection or something,

So yeah,

I really love that concept,

So thank you for that.

It's helpful.

Yes,

Yes,

And I mean,

There's,

Yeah,

A lot of people don't see,

And it's okay.

We're just human.

It's natural,

And until we become saints,

We won't see,

But if,

See if this concept makes sense to you,

You believe in it,

Then there you see,

You know,

Because science already says it's gone already.

How would you be able to see?

If you say you see this,

You're lying,

You know,

Pretty much,

But if you believe in science,

That's why I'm trying to make it universal,

You know.

People have different religion.

I don't want to offend anyone,

That's why,

But science is universal,

Right?

Not everyone believes in science either,

But people's science is science,

Right?

That's why,

That's what science say.

They are moving millions of times per second.

That's the reason we can't see.

If you say you can see,

You're lying,

You know,

Even say whatever,

Because they're also human.

They can't see.

How do you,

How do you know?

So you have,

Have you,

So I would just say,

Do concentration practice,

Right?

Do all 40 meditation objects,

So where you can get all eight jhanas,

And then master,

And then jhanic mastery for all,

And then I think it's,

Don't give up yet.

If you really wanted to dedicate to meditation,

I think it's way more possible than you think,

I feel,

You know,

But the mind has to be really strong,

And powerful,

And wieldy,

And malleable,

You know,

To do this,

And I believe,

I don't think that people that,

The very few people that I practice with that can see,

You know,

Ultimate materiality,

I don't think,

I don't think they're lying,

You know,

I really don't think they're lying.

I don't think they're making it up,

You know.

Because it's already gone,

But what I'm trying to relate to normally,

What I'm trying to say is,

Like,

You don't have to be a saint,

You don't have to see this,

Just believe in it,

Right?

I think all these beliefs drive your behavior,

And it'll drive you,

You know,

Everything.

Well,

I am definitely inspired by those,

Those beings who can actually do it,

And I see how well their life is,

And so I am inspired,

And there's faith for me to know that there's so much more out there than I can see and know for myself right now.

Yeah,

I have faith in that.

So maybe listen to this,

And see if you can relate to it,

But if you can believe it,

If you believe it,

Take this belief and just behave in a way that goes with the belief,

And you'll be okay,

You know.

You don't have to see it,

Just believe in it,

Because it's science.

Even if you don't believe in Buddha,

Science is the facts of life,

Right?

Buddhism is also facts of life,

But people may get offended if they believe other religions,

But then,

You know,

You know,

So,

Because we're trying to relate to all these different people,

But then,

You know,

Test it.

You can't really test it,

You can't see it,

So,

But,

You know,

Listen to this,

And see if you can relate,

And if you relate,

Behave in such a way,

Then it'll help you.

So,

If you have a good,

What do you call it,

If you have a good mental health,

Like a good mind,

And,

You know,

Buddha say,

You know,

All these meditation,

Especially all come down to this,

If you have a good mind,

It'll help your body flow,

And the blood flow,

And that cure a lot of diseases,

You know,

Naturally,

Because it's all related,

Right?

Everything starts in the mind,

You know.

The first version of the Dhammapada,

Even,

You know,

Everything is led by mind,

Made by mind,

And,

No,

It's everything is,

Mind precedes everything,

Mind's the forerunner,

Mind is the chief,

You know,

And this is something you can,

If you look at your own mind,

You know,

In the right way,

And with the right training and practice,

You can see how this is so,

But I want you to tell me how,

Could you explain a little bit how this notion you're talking about of everything that we're dealing with is basically in the past,

Because it rises and ceases so quickly.

So,

Does this give a deeper insight to this first step,

Or how does that help for people to know that,

Or to believe that,

As you say?

Okay,

So,

Like I said,

I tell you the easier version,

First,

The first step,

Everyone can see,

But even then,

You have to look,

You have to focus,

You know,

If you just,

You know,

Every day passes,

We do things,

We do things as a routine,

We're not really focusing,

Right?

So,

When you focus,

You see what you're doing,

When you're eating a good food,

If you focus,

You see that two minutes is gone,

Right?

If you're not focusing on what you're doing,

Then you don't know whether it's good or you feel bad,

And then you don't see that it's gone,

Right?

So,

While you're living your life,

If you look at yourself focused,

Then you see that everything passes,

Good or bad,

Okay?

And all you've got left is memory,

Your addiction,

Your imagination,

Reflection,

And see that they're not real,

Your memory is not wrong,

Your reflection is not real,

You're seeing my reflection,

It's an image,

It's not real,

But we think it's real,

It's all these equal,

Right?

So,

Face the reality,

That's why I said you need to be open-minded,

You should be able to face the facts of life,

If you're not wishy-washy,

I can't help,

Right?

But then,

People who are in trouble,

They like that,

So before we get there,

I think you got to face your issue first,

And talk to,

Like,

Realize that you have an issue,

Like you're suffering something,

And like,

I don't know,

You don't have to tell publicly like us,

But still,

Talk to someone you know,

Or next step,

Talk to a professional,

This might help,

But there's also other methods,

Psychiatric,

Etc,

Right?

So,

Then,

When you are a little bit recovered,

And do this,

Every day you pass this,

And focus on yourself,

And see that good things and bad things don't last,

Okay?

And then,

That's the first step,

Then you see that what's left is your memory that you're suffering from.

I'm suffering from my memory of how my aunt treated me,

Right?

And then,

You see,

I have to see that the memory is the memory,

It's not here,

It's not real,

Okay?

It's my addiction.

That's how you see the second step,

I think.

If you look at each moment,

It already passes.

So,

Like,

Mind and body are moving millions of times per second.

We can't really see with the human eye,

Okay?

Human mind,

We can't see,

But if you know that whatever we have been feeling or good or bad,

It's all memory.

So,

Memory is not real,

It's not here.

If you can even just see that,

That's enough.

You know,

Second step is advanced,

You know?

If you even see that good feeling,

Bad feeling,

They already pass,

It's just a memory,

Your imagination.

They're not real.

Then,

You will wake up slowly.

But every day,

You got to practice slowly,

Focus on yourself,

Don't compare yourself to your environment.

People,

Everybody have different life,

You know?

You just look at yourself.

If you want to compare yourself with yesterday,

You and today,

You know what I mean?

Then,

You will see and you have less stress.

If you have less stress,

It's good for people who are still working,

Who are doing business.

It's good for people who are dying because,

You know,

Maybe you're suffering,

Say cancer or whatever.

You know,

Know that,

You know,

You're having a bad feeling,

But that's also based on memory.

It's not here.

If you look at each moment,

Right at the moment,

It's also a little bit to do with being in the present,

Yeah?

We got to practice to be.

Being in the present basically means you look at yourself,

Don't look at environment.

If you look at yourself,

You see,

You know,

You see what's happening to you.

You know,

I'm saying good feeling,

Bad feeling.

Unless you look at yourself,

You don't see whether you feel good or bad.

You don't see whether it passes,

You know?

You're just eroding,

Right?

So yeah,

So if you just look at yourself,

Take it easy.

You know,

Every day we're passing,

We're doing stuff.

Even if you can't catch it all the time,

Even if you catch 10 minutes a day,

Slowly help,

You know,

It might,

It compound,

Right?

You know,

It's a compound effect,

You know?

Yeah,

So yeah.

So when you're about to die,

You know that,

You know,

Like you're not letting go everything right at the moment.

We are letting go everything every second,

You know?

And our body,

Buddha said,

Physical body is dying every moment.

We can't really,

Well,

We can take medicine,

Et cetera,

Try to fix it,

But it'll go one day.

We can't make it last forever,

You know?

So when you're about to die someday,

When you're dying,

Everything you're feeling is just a memory.

So you take it easy,

So you go peacefully,

You know?

This could help people mentally suffering,

Also people dying,

You know,

I want to help them,

You know?

Yeah.

So,

You know,

What's coming up for me now is that,

You know,

If we're not ever really living,

When people say the present moment,

By the time we can even grasp that,

It's already gone.

So in a way,

There is no present moment,

Right?

So we're in this continuous dream state,

Or we're like nothing is really solid or real in a sense.

So if we can't even really experience the true reality,

Then like what's the point of this?

And how I would answer that is like we've been talking about is seeing this nature of reality that it is not satisfactory ultimately,

Right?

And that it's fleeting.

And that's the whole point is to see this dukkha and to have it be completely gone,

You know?

So cease.

Yeah.

Yeah,

Because even present is not there.

So that's what I'm trying to relate to is your good or bad feelings are based on pretty much nothing.

So what I'm saying is if you're feeling good or bad,

Don't drag on about it.

You're weird.

We are naturally weird.

Our feeling good or bad are based on nothing,

Okay?

So just let it go.

That's what I'm trying to say,

You know,

Whether you're having good feeling or bad feeling,

You know,

We're still human.

You feel good.

Okay,

Feel it.

Then what's next,

Okay?

You feel bad.

Okay,

Feel it.

What's next?

That's what I'm trying to help people to feel,

You know?

Yeah,

That really is beautiful.

And,

You know,

Like what is it you said earlier,

You know,

Having enough,

Well,

Even a mountain of gold would never be enough,

You know,

No matter how much people have,

They never have enough either.

And I've talked to people that they've done everything in the West that society wanted them to do,

You know,

Went to school,

Got the house,

Car,

The kids,

You know,

Have the job,

The vacation,

The retirement,

And it didn't,

You know,

They gave it all up,

They quit because it wasn't satisfying them,

You know,

It wasn't making them happy.

Now,

Some people,

It's okay,

That's great,

You know,

But other people,

They want something else,

They want something deeper,

That there's more to whatever this is,

Than what they're led to believe.

So,

Yeah,

I just wanted to echo that,

Yeah.

So if you're searching for good stuff,

It'll never end.

If you're searching for,

Like,

When we're suffering,

I think we're really searching for bad stuff.

If you go keep down and down,

It'll never end either.

So just stay in balance,

Because they don't last,

You know.

You're a billionaire,

You try to be a trillionaire,

Never last,

And you could go anywhere.

What's the point?

Well,

You're still trying,

Like,

I'm still doing businesses,

But I don't mind if it goes tomorrow,

You know.

Knowing this,

I'll be okay.

Otherwise,

I'll go crazy,

You know,

Where's all my,

You know,

We're paying a lot of tax here,

You know,

Otherwise,

We'll go,

I'm like,

You know,

I'm helping others with social welfare,

You know.

And when I feel bad,

Like,

When people I love pass,

They leave me,

Well,

I can't go back,

Right?

I just have to move on,

You know.

And when you do business,

When you do job,

You know,

People let you go,

Redundancy,

Whatever,

Well,

There's one door closed,

Need another door open,

You know.

When you lose a business,

Well,

You wouldn't want to deal with that customer,

That business anyway,

You know.

What's next,

You know,

Good or bad,

What's next,

You know.

You feel it.

I'm not trying to tell you don't feel it.

You feel it.

We're still human,

Right?

We have to also know that we're human,

We're not sick,

But then let it go.

It's all able,

It's all about being able to let go.

But we can,

Like,

We don't have to be a saint to let go.

If you do this slowly,

You'll be able to let go.

And that's what it's all about.

It's not so much accumulating,

It's letting go,

Letting go,

Letting go.

And how much do we have that we're not letting go of that we could in our life would be so much better,

You know.

And because we can't take it with us anyway,

Right?

None of that we can take with us anyway.

So yeah,

And yeah,

It's just more and more layers of letting go of things I don't even realize I'm holding on to.

And then sometimes I want to let go of something,

But I can't.

And so sometimes it's almost like it lets go of me when the time's right,

You know.

Yeah,

We're still human.

It's okay.

Slowly trying to get there and starting with our issue.

Sure.

Yeah,

At least if it fix your issue.

Yeah,

And you know,

That acceptance you're talking about is really wonderful too,

You know.

That mantra of it's okay,

It really helped me as well.

And it's okay not to be okay sometimes.

We're human,

You know.

We're all a little bit crazy.

And that like,

I have to borrow this phrase,

The golden question,

You know,

What if the worst thing that ever happened was the greatest gift I've ever been given?

And it's wonderful how you thanked your aunt for actually helping you when it seems like,

You know,

That there's no redeemable value,

But you turned it around and actually looked at it as a gift,

You know.

Not that abuse is ever okay,

It's just once something happens,

Now what do we do with it?

And I really appreciate your approach to this,

And I loved my my mind,

Like seeing through this new lens that you provided for me,

I find really helpful because the Buddha was a pragmatist,

Right?

He would teach people what level they were on,

And to help them all walks of life.

And he taught directly so they could understand,

And it's useful.

And he said,

If this didn't work,

I wouldn't teach it,

You know.

So let's start wrapping up here.

Why don't you take the listeners an eye out on a message,

Please?

So I would love to spread this by teaching people who have community,

And then they can spread it that way,

You know.

What I want to believe,

Okay,

Yeah,

We are human,

We are crazy,

But then,

You know,

We all have issues.

When you're feeling bad,

There's also good feeling come,

You know.

Just know that good or bad feeling,

They don't last,

And you'll be okay.

Just move on.

If you're still feeling that,

You're still feeling on memory,

Which you can't redo,

Okay?

So just let it go,

Okay?

Okay,

Thank you very much.

Okay,

Beautiful.

All right,

I will let you go.

So thank you so much.

May all beings everywhere realize awakening and be free.

Bye now.

Bye-bye.
