It's 7am here in the UK so let's say a big welcome,
Welcome to the day and welcome to you all.
And as we gather here with this shared intention to rewire our brains into the positive and to apply that first to ourself.
To let go of this self-criticism and self-judgement and to start to recognise that amid all the struggle,
Just how well we're doing.
So as with all these practices we need to begin by transitioning into our meditative state,
Awakening up the channels of the body.
So just taking a big stretch up,
A nice deep breath,
As big as you need it to be,
Stretching up and just kind of walking the hands up like you're climbing a ladder.
Just easing the spine in little wiggly motions as you open up the channels of the body.
And then when you're ready,
On an exhalation,
Bring the hands down.
You might want to bring one hand all the way down to one side of you and lean over to the other side.
Taking a nice long slow breath,
Coming back to centre and then maybe going the other side.
Breathing into the side body,
Opening up the side channels,
Coming back to centre and then very gently twisting to one side,
Stretching the opposite arm over,
Breathing and stretching.
So we've gone up,
We've now twisted,
We've gone to the side,
So one more each side.
Just need to go a bit forward and back,
So bringing the hands together in front of you,
Taking a nice big inhale as you stretch the knuckles away,
See curving the back,
Bringing the nose to the belly button,
Really feeling the shoulder blades separate,
Feeling the space between the vertebrae and then inhaling back up to centre,
Bring the hands around behind you,
Thumbs down,
Interlace the fingers behind your back and then stretch your knuckles away,
Breathing into the chest,
Pushing the belly button forward,
Lifting the chin up,
See curving the spine the other way and just doing that one more time,
Knuckles forward,
Breathing,
Rounding the spine,
Bringing the nose towards the tummy button,
Stretching out between the shoulder blades,
Inhaling,
Curving the spine the other way and then coming back to centre and now we do our breathing exercise,
So make a little fist,
Thumbs across the palm,
Fingers wrap over,
Inhale lift up,
Exhale down,
Through the nose or the mouth as you have available to you,
Going as fast or as slow as you like but particularly first thing in the morning as we're shaking off sleep,
We want to really open up the channels,
Get rid of all the carbon dioxide,
Energise the body before we sit,
So five more,
Three more,
One more and rest and just take in a moment to allow your body to come into a comfortable position and this doesn't matter if you're sitting in the traditional cross-legged unsupported position or supported with your spine resting against something or even lying down,
Allow yourself to transition and as you tap into your breath,
With every out breath,
Just allow your body to relax into a more comfortable arrangement and already you might find it easy to feel the breath coming up the spine as you inhale and flow back down your spine as you exhale and just perhaps letting go of conscious control of the breath as we sit here around the fire as humans have done since the beginning of their time on earth and feel the effortless flow in and out of your breath,
A process you don't need to control,
You can relax and just be supported by,
You might notice as you do this already how your body and the places of tension begin to soften,
Relaxing the jaw,
Space between your eyebrows,
Relaxing all the tension around the heart and letting the breath settle in the gut and as usual I hold the time in this practice,
There's nothing else you need to be doing and nowhere else you need to be,
Just allow your awareness to draw inward,
Focusing all your awareness on your belly,
Perhaps feeling the movement as you breathe,
Expansion as you breathe in,
Contraction as you breathe out,
Any time you find you mind wandering,
In a smile,
Notice that you've noticed and draw your attention back,
Building that muscle of focus and as you breathe here into your gut,
Just really feel yourself grounded,
Supported,
Connected,
Connected to this fabric of consciousness which we all are part,
Connected to each other,
Connected to infinite love and support,
Know that you are welcome,
You are wanted,
You are so necessary,
As much as you're needed you're also supported and safe,
And allow this knowing to really soak into your belly,
Owning your place in the world,
Just notice what unfolds in the rest of your body as you soak in this welcome,
Wanted,
Necessary,
And then just slowly,
Slowly let your awareness rise up and settle in the centre of your body and your solar plexus,
Breathe in this golden light of confidence,
Of ease,
And we can choose to give ourselves this vote of self-confidence,
I believe in me,
Soak it into all your younger selves,
All the way back to the womb,
I believe in you,
Feel yourself soaking in that self-belief,
You are welcomed,
You are necessary,
You are believed,
Confidence,
Any doubt,
Anything stuck,
Stale or old,
Throw it out into the fire,
As we do the work to let go of these old stories of self-criticism and self-doubt and worry,
We throw them into the fire as we build new stories of self-trust,
I believe in me,
Feel that connection between gut and solar plexus,
Gut,
Brain and confidence,
Intuition and self-belief supporting each other,
Then let your awareness rise up to your heart space,
Noticing how this feels,
Breathing in anything that's stuck,
Stale,
Sad or old,
Breathing it out,
Breathing what needs to be released into the fire,
Noticing anything that needs to be forgiven,
Breathing that into the fire,
I feel your heart space really supported by this anchored grounded gut,
Bright yellow self-confidence of the solar plexus,
Flowing into the heart,
Knowing that you are so very loved,
You are valued,
Feel yourself really receive that hug right into your heart,
Knowing that you are loved and you are valued,
Take a moment to really notice what your heart needs,
As you breathe in feel yourself really receive that,
As you breathe out feel it magnified,
And then let your awareness rise up through your throat,
Doing a quick check-in to notice if there's anything stuck,
If there is just throwing that into the fire and letting your breath clear your throat chakra,
Allowing the flow of wise,
Kind words,
And draw your awareness up into your head,
Just notice the quality of your head in this moment,
Metaphorically opening the doors and the windows,
Letting all this fresh energy flow up from your grounded root,
Up through solar plexus,
Heart through and into the head,
Literally bringing this golden light,
Flushing everything that doesn't serve you out through all the doors and all the windows,
Just clearing your head,
Maybe even feeling this tingling quality of awareness in your third eye between your eyebrows,
And even in the very top of your head,
And just feel the flow of breath all the way along this central Shashamana,
From the tailbone all the way up to the top of the head and beyond,
From beyond the top of the head all the way out down through the tailbone and below,
Just become aware of your quality of mind today,
Is your mind fast or slow,
Busy or quiet,
Heavy or light,
Foggy or sharp,
Just notice if any judgment crept in beyond observing,
Notice,
Smile,
Throw the judgment into the fire,
And from this place just notice what two words might describe your week,
What are you most proud of yourself for this week,
And what's one thing you did well,
Just noticing over time how anything we practice is hard at first,
It becomes easier over time,
Just taking a moment to acknowledge we have another week,
Inshallah and thank you for the blessings of our time on this planet,
What have we learned or realised about ourselves that will help us make next week an even better week,
Maybe placing a hand on your heart,
Just take a moment to really lock that in and make a promise to yourself,
You're going to honour that,
And as we begin to draw our practice to a close in the last two minutes,
I'm going to invite you to just tap into that web of connections all around you,
Feel yourself flowing love to all your people,
And as you feel yourself sending love out to your network,
Everyone who's connected to you,
Feel yourself also receiving it back,
And just know that as humans,
As we suffer trauma,
Healing is actually in connection,
Whenever we reach out and authentically connect with others,
We are doing the work of healing,
So just take a moment to really send out and soak in that love,
And know that you matter,
Together we heal each other,
And when you're ready,
Just very gently bringing in some movement,
It might be wiggling your fingers or wiggling your toes,
Maybe bringing a bit of movement into the body,
Perhaps rubbing the hands together,
So we take a nice big stretch up,
Blinking the eyes open as you look at your thumbs,
Joining thumbs together,
Hands down to the heart space,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
