Before you begin,
Just take a moment to orient yourself,
Noticing where you are,
The space around you,
Any sounds near or far.
Becoming more aware of the surface supporting you,
The position of your body and just allowing yourself to arrive,
Nothing to change,
Just noticing.
And when you are ready,
Gently allowing your eyes to close and as your eyes close,
Turning your awareness inward,
Noticing your breath just as it is.
And with each gentle exhale,
Allowing a softening,
A letting go.
And with each inhale,
Allowing a quiet sense of ease to begin to flow through you.
That's right.
Now just giving yourself permission,
Permission to relax,
Permission to pause,
Permission to simply be.
Nothing to do,
Nothing to fix,
Just this moment.
And as you allow that permission,
You may begin to notice your body responding.
Perhaps your shoulders soften,
Your jaw loosens,
Your face relaxes.
Or maybe it happens in your own way and that's perfect.
Now allowing that relaxation to gently spread like a soft wave flowing from the top of your head down through your body,
Relaxing your scalp,
Your forehead,
Your eyes,
Your cheeks,
Your jaw,
Flowing down your neck,
Your shoulders,
Releasing,
Letting go,
Down through your arms,
Your hands,
All the way to your fingertips and continuing down your chest,
Your back,
Your stomach,
Softening,
Loosening,
Down into your hips,
Your legs,
Your knees,
Your calves,
All the way down to your feet.
And as your body relaxes,
Drifting deeper and deeper,
Your mind can relax too.
Thoughts may come and that's okay,
You don't need to follow them.
Just noticing like clouds drifting across a wide open sky and you are that sky,
Spacious,
Open,
At ease.
Now gently becoming aware of a quiet sense of kindness,
Perhaps subtle,
Perhaps already there and allowing that kindness to turn inward toward yourself and you might gently say,
It is okay to relax,
It is okay to be,
I can be kind to myself,
It is okay to relax,
It is okay to be,
I can be kind to myself.
And just noticing what happens effortlessly,
Just allowing and as you rest here,
You may begin to sense a deeper part of you,
Calm,
Steady,
Compassionate,
A part of you that understands that you are human,
That you are learning,
That you are enough.
And from that place,
A gentle feeling of self-compassion begins to grow like a warm soft light glowing within your chest and with each breath,
That light expands,
Filling you with warmth,
Understanding,
Acceptance and the more you notice it,
The more it grows and the more it grows,
The easier it becomes to be kind to yourself,
To soften towards yourself,
To allow yourself to relax.
And you may begin to realize that this state,
This feeling is always available to you and each time you return to it,
You can go deeper,
More easily,
More naturally because your mind and body are learning,
Learning how to let go,
Learning how to soften,
Learning how to be and each time you allow yourself to relax,
You become kinder,
More patient,
More understanding with yourself and that kindness continues to grow naturally,
Effortlessly and each time you return here,
You relax more quickly,
More deeply than before because now you know the way and as you continue resting here,
You may notice a quiet sense of energy beginning to build,
Clear steady energy flowing through you as relaxation and energy begin to co-exist,
A relaxed body and a gently energized mind,
Balanced,
Centered and this balance stays with you so that whenever you need,
You can allow yourself to relax and as you do,
You naturally return to this place of ease,
Of kindness,
Of calm awareness and each time it becomes deeper,
Stronger,
More natural and now in a moment,
You can begin to emerge bringing with you this sense of calm,
This growing kindness,
This gentle steady energy and knowing that you can return to this state anytime you choose and each time going deeper than before.
