Welcome to today's short meditation on trust.
Every day or more accurately every moment of every day we've got a choice.
We can go through life in fear or we can trust the universe.
But trust takes spiritual bravery and sometimes fear is just easier.
But spiritual bravery can be cultivated and strengthened.
So that's what we're going to work on here today.
So let's begin.
Start by releasing any tension in your body as you allow yourself to relax and close your eyes.
See if you can let go of whatever's come before this moment and anything that's coming after as you gently ease into being here and now.
Let's take one deep breath in inhale and exhale.
I invite you to imagine that you're swimming in a beautiful body of water,
A calm ocean,
A pretty lake or a pool that you're familiar with.
And now imagine just for a moment that you stop swimming.
When you stop you start to sink.
And if you give in to fear,
Believing the worst,
That there's no other way,
That fear would have you sink even further.
But imagine that you choose trust.
In this case you're trusting in the laws of physics.
Even if you can't see what they are,
You can see the evidence of them.
So you lie on your back,
You relax,
And your whole body floats up to the surface of the water where you rest,
Trusting,
Knowing all is well.
Imagine the feeling of floating gently on top of the water.
Feel the feelings of trust that allow you to relax,
To be calm,
To feel safe and supported on top of the water.
What does it feel like to trust and know that you're supported?
Take a deep breath here,
Inhale.
You have access to this feeling anytime you choose.
You can come back to it over and over again.
Because for most of us fear shows up daily or all through the day.
So imagine a moment when fear tends to come up for you.
You think of some unwanted thought like it's not going to work out,
Or life is supposed to be difficult,
Or there's never enough.
Instead of going down a road and imagining what could happen in fear,
Imagine you choose trust instead.
How could things work out for you if you trusted the universe instead of defaulting to an old pattern of thinking from a place of fear?
See if you can cultivate the feelings of trust as we say a few affirmations together.
And feel free to repeat these silently or aloud.
Number one,
I'm always supported even when I can't see how.
Number two,
I'm brave enough to let life surprise me.
Three,
I choose trust over fear.
Four,
Everything is unfolding even better than I'd imagined.
And number five,
I know what I'm capable of.
The universe has my back.
