So what I find in my work as a holistic therapist,
So many people present with sleep issues.
So it could be that they struggle falling to sleep,
They struggle to stay asleep.
Or they get up,
Wake up super early where they're not ready to get up and it impacts their quality of life day to day.
If you're someone that struggles with sleep you will completely understand this and what happens is people will go so long and get so used to not sleeping well that it becomes their normal and they've forgotten how it feels to wake up feeling fully rested and ready to thrive through the day.
So I'm just going to give you a couple of things in this video,
There will be more to come,
That will help you to sleep better.
So the first one which something that not many people consider.
The sleep cycle,
The sleep-awake cycle,
The circadian rhythm is part of the natural rhythms of our body.
A lot of people think it starts in the evening,
So you have your evening wind down routine,
You have your herbal tea,
You come away from screens two hours before bed and you're setting yourself up for a fabulous night's sleep.
Yes,
That is all good in theory,
But the cycle actually begins the moment you wake up.
So this is when we start to set the circadian rhythm.
The moment you wake up,
You open your eyes,
You're ready to start the day,
It begins there.
So another thing that we need to consider is all of the things that we are experiencing through the day,
All the interactions that we have,
The thoughts,
The feelings,
Emotions,
Anything that we're consuming through social media or the TV or the news or anything like that,
It has to be processed.
Happens is when we're asleep our amazing brain has this capacity to begin this cycle of processing.
So we process everything and then we wake up with a clear head ready to start again and put more into the system.
So we have to consider this because if you are spending your day completely consumed by however that looks or feels for you,
And the mind has no space to breathe and get clarity,
Then by the time it comes to your bedtime,
You've got so much going on,
So much to process,
You're going to be falling asleep wired.
So it's not only important to have that wind down before sleep,
It's also super,
Super important to spend times in the day to just check in and be mindful about the things that you are consuming and also checking in with how you're feeling.
Because if we're pushing everything down,
We're masking things,
It has to come out,
It has to be processed somehow.
So that will be when we have interferences through sleep,
You can wake up really early and the mind is going as if you're wide awake.
So it's just a couple of things to consider.
There's so much more and I will share more but I'm just going to leave you with that for now and hope that it helps you at least to get a better night's sleep.
A little bit of an improvement maybe if you've been struggling for a while and then just keep an eye out for more of my videos and I will help you in lots and lots of other ways with your sleep.
So here's to a better night's sleep this evening.
