Welcome to this guided meditation on emotional well-being.
Find a comfortable and quiet place to either sit or lie down and give yourself a moment to land wherever you are,
Feeling the support beneath you,
Grounding into the earth.
And let's take some natural but conscious breaths,
Letting the inhale and the exhale be steady and smooth.
And if you find your breath a little rocky or uneven,
See if you can lengthen the exhale by pursing your lips as if you're drinking from a straw on your exhales.
This will help to soothe your nervous system and regulate your breath.
Keeping a breath,
Let's shift our attention to this notion that it's okay to not be okay.
It's okay to experience heavy or negative emotions.
It's part of our human experience.
And it's okay to acknowledge them and be present with them.
And it's okay to express them in a form of anger or anxiety.
Knowing that it's okay gives you permission to relax into the state that you're in unapologetically and lets your energy shift from darkness and pain to eventually one of gratitude and peace.
So take a moment right now to identify and label these emotions,
Whether it's sadness or grief,
Anger or resentment.
Give yourself that permission to wallow and be sad and unmotivated.
Allow these emotions to be part of your experience right now instead of pushing them down.
Let them know that it's okay for you to feel this way in this moment as if you're talking to a hurt child of yours or someone you care about.
Bring compassion to these emotions.
And notice your breath as you're going through this process.
Stay present with it and keep lengthening your exhale if you find your breath uneven or rocky.
And notice when we give some breathing room to these gloomy emotions,
We allow them to be part of us instead of separate.
We let them know that it's okay for us to feel them and it's okay for us to release them whenever we feel ready to.
And by going through this process of allowing and acknowledging our emotions,
You're able to shift your energy from one of darkness and pain to one of gratitude and peace.
You're able to step out of your head and look at the bigger picture and appreciate the vastness of our world.
But also give yourself permission to not have to jump from a feeling of anger,
Resentment,
Or negativity straight to a feeling of happiness and joy.
Instead,
Let yourself slowly step one feeling up at a time.
A gentle step up can be a practice of gratitude in every moment even when life sucks.
When we look for something however small to appreciate,
A brain releases serotonin and dopamine,
Both of which make you feel better.
Gratitude is truly the magic medicine that never runs out.
But take this opportunity to find one,
Two,
Or three things that you're grateful for in this moment.
And notice how they make you feel.
Notice if there is a shift no matter how small.
And as our meditation comes to a close,
Consider that true emotional well-being is not the absence of negative emotions but rather a practice of strengthening our emotional immune system so that you can learn how to be okay even when not everything is okay.
I hope this serves you and Namaste.
