Hello,

And thank you for joining me for this week's Pro Tip.

Today's topic is Laughter.

Our lives are so serious.

We have kids,

Jobs,

Responsibilities,

And the older we get,

Sometimes we can lose our sense of joy or play.

One of the best tips I can offer as a health coach is to try to bring back some of that laughter and joy into your life.

One of the best and easiest and free ways to improve your health in all areas is to have joy in your life and to laugh often.

So how do we do that?

How do we fit laughter into our day when we're trying to make meals,

Get to work on time,

Not be overwhelmed by the state of the world?

Well first,

Let's start how we always do and let's sit upright in our chair.

Let's close our eyes if it feels appropriate for you and let's take a few deep,

Long breaths.

Setting ourselves up in this way is a great way to authentically find answers,

Going right to the source to listen to what your heart tells you.

That is your true teacher.

So taking deep,

Long breaths,

Allowing your body to soften and relax.

I know there's one area that's tense in your body and let it go.

Breathe and soften.

And as you're breathing and your body's relaxing,

Listen to your heart.

Where do you find joy in your life?

And if there is no joy now,

Think of a time when you had joy.

It could even have been years ago.

Revisit that time.

Was it an activity that you did?

Was it a feeling you felt?

Was it a person in your life?

It could have been a particular moment,

A job,

Learning something new.

Focusing on an area in your life that brought you joy,

Feel this feeling spread throughout your heart,

Pulsating into every cell.

Allow yourself again to feel joy.

And one easy way to do that is to laugh.

Maybe you've heard of new things like laughing yoga or laughing classes or laughing breaks.

If you have not,

I encourage you to look this up online if you have internet.

If you don't have internet,

Then think of a time or an activity where true joy and laughter,

You can spend time with a child,

With an animal,

Being outside in nature.

I encourage you to try to have one deep belly laugh per day.

The easiest medicine,

This is for free.

You do not need a doctor's permission or slip for this or even a doctor's visit.

One big belly laugh.

And don't be surprised if it's been a while since you laughed that tears might come as well.

Tears of joy or even sorrow.

Sometimes they creep up when we laugh wholeheartedly.

Allow your body to feel these feelings.

Let and release these feelings go.

Breathing and relaxing,

Settling in.

Challenge yourself.

See if starting today you can have seven days of a belly laugh.

Thank you so much for allowing me the precious gift of your time.

When you're ready,

Open your eyes,

Come back into your day and have fun.

Have fun on this adventure.

Until next time,

Be well.

Meet your Teacher

I’ve lost my laughter! And I know that laughter can create serotonin in the gut. I’m doing my best to find my joy you should every day and I’m struggling. I’m struggling because I am so stressed. There’s too many balls in the air and over the past few weeks after I had felt like I had found by Calm I feel like I have lost it again . This was helpful how important that is whether it be playing with my dog and laughing or calling a friend and laughing on the phone. I remember my last big deep belly laugh was months and months ago. Thank you and Namaste.
