Welcome to hexagram number five,
Known as Waiting.
This is all about trust and timing.
The sky is now full of clouds.
The wind changes like birds grow silent.
The scent of rain is near.
Yet no drops are falling.
It is this sense of waiting that hexagram number five talks of.
It reminds us that not all action is forward motion.
Sometimes the wisest move is stillness.
Not passivity.
Awareness.
Attunement.
Patience.
Aligned with trust.
The clouds will not rain just because you shout at them.
But they will rain eventually.
This hexagram of waiting is composed of heaven in the lower trigram.
Three yang lines with water in the upper trigram.
Yin,
Yang,
Yin.
A pool of potential held in the sky.
Thunderstorms brewing,
Yet not released.
This arrangement shows us a pause filled with pressure.
Energy is gathering.
Something is forming,
But it is not yet ready.
And so we wait.
The Tao teaches us that waiting is not idleness.
It is alignment with what is coming.
This is spoken of in verse 15 of the Tao Te Ching,
Which is reflected in this hexagram number five.
Verse 15 of the Tao says,
The men who practiced the Way effectively in the past were unfathomable and beyond description.
Could not get a sense of their depth.
And although you could not get a sense of their depth,
I will persist and try to create a picture of them.
Hesitating,
Like crossing a stream in winter.
Wavering,
Like fearing demons with clubs on all sides.
Respectful,
Like being a guest.
Blind,
Like ice about to melt.
Unpretentious,
Like rough lumber.
In plain view,
Like a valley.
Mixing and mingling,
Like muddy water.
Who can gradually clarify muddy water with tranquility?
Those who care for the Way,
As they would a child carried on their back.
Do not wish to be filled to the brim.
Exactly because they are not filled to the brim.
When worn out like old clothing,
They are renewed yet again.
From this verse,
We understand that waiting is not weakness,
It is wisdom.
Timing is not something one can create,
It's something that you meet.
There are currents beneath the surface of your life that move independent of your will.
To wait is to recognize them,
To feel the rhythm of the world,
And choose not to fight it.
This is not easy.
We wait for love.
We wait for clarity.
We wait for healing.
And so often we grow restless.
We fill the silence with noise,
We try to force what isn't ready.
Yet the seed cannot bloom in winter,
And water cannot boil if you keep lifting the lid.
So this hexagram guides us to wait in stillness while remaining alert,
Using the time to nourish oneself physically and spiritually.
In this time,
Strengthen your resolve,
Sharpen your tools,
Rest your body,
And feed your inner flame.
When the time comes,
You will be asked to act swiftly.
For now,
Conserve your energy.
This is especially relevant when you are in transition between jobs,
Relationships,
Roles,
Or beliefs.
It can so often be a temptation to jump,
Just to escape the discomfort of the in-between.
So ask yourself in those times,
Is my decision coming from alignment or impatience?
To be wise is to know what is slow to arrive is often the most stable,
The most real.
Allow the deeper rhythm to reveal itself.
Let's go back to the image of the rain again,
The sky being heavy with promise,
Waiting,
Gathering,
Patience for that perfect condition.
Waiting is nature's way,
And you too are part of nature.
You are not behind,
You are not lost.
Even sleep is a kind of waiting,
So is breath,
So is winter.
There is deep intelligence in this pause.
Trust the space in between and let it nourish you.
Because when waiting is honored,
It becomes sacred.
Know that this time is not a delay,
It is a preparation.
This is grace in motion,
Moving unseen.
You are exactly where you need to be.
Www.
Mooji.
