Welcome to this short guided meditation created to help you move your body from a stress response to a love response.
By the end of this meditation,
You will feel compassion for,
Patience with,
And an overwhelming amount of admiration for yourself and for the world around you.
Know that once familiar with this meditation,
You may choose to allow it to supplement you in many different ways in your day to day.
However,
It's encouraged that you never practice this tool while actively driving,
Operating machinery,
Or engaging in other activities that require your full attention to detail for safety.
Now,
Begin by coming into a position that's comfortable for you.
Closing down your eyes and simply noticing the way your body and mind feel.
If you notice any racing thoughts,
Anxiousness,
Anger,
Or just discomfort in general,
That's okay.
By default,
As a living,
Breathing human being,
We're exposed to and experience stress.
In fact,
Our bodies produce a healthy dose of stress every day in order for it to function properly.
This stress is created by our dear friend and most frequently visited hormone,
Cortisol.
When our body signals the need for cortisol,
Such as when required for metabolizing our food,
Healing a wound,
Or protecting our immune system,
It's keeping us healthy.
However,
It's common for cortisol to be released in excess as well when we encounter stress triggers in our day to day,
Which leads us to pain,
Illness,
Anxiety,
And oftentimes overwhelm.
In the next few moments,
We will practice balancing our stress hormone,
Cortisol,
With our love hormone,
Oxytocin,
Bringing us to feelings of trust,
Empathy,
And connection.
To signal your body to release this feel good hormone,
Begin by placing your right hand over your heart space.
Feel your heartbeat.
Feel what it is to be alive in this moment.
Once you have connected with your heartbeat,
Take this bond further by placing your left hand on top of your right,
Coming into a full embrace of your heart space.
Stay in stillness.
Feel this connection.
Think of all the wonderful things your body has done for you leading up to this moment and will continue to do for you in this moment forward.
Albert Einstein once said,
There are only two ways to live your life.
One is though nothing is a miracle.
The other is though everything is a miracle.
Choose to see and feel the miracle of your body today.
The miracle is to have a heart that beats for you today,
Right now.
The miracle it is to be alive.
You,
Your body,
Your mind,
You are a miracle.
Notice what you feel in this moment as you sit with this sensation of what it is to be a miracle.
You may feel a rush of warmth course through your veins.
Maybe you notice a slight smile has curved the corners of your mouth or even possibly a burst of energy as you feel what it is to truly be here,
To be alive.
Whatever this love feels like,
Let it wash over you.
Take a moment before you open your eyes to reenter into this space around you.
Notice the way the air feels on your skin or the way your clothing rests against your body.
Notice the dimness of your eyelids,
Any taste smells or other sensations your surroundings bring.
Now find simple movement again as you peel your hands away from your heart one by one.
Knowing that each one is enveloped in your love.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Reintegrate your body into the world once again through movement.
Maybe you begin to roll out your ankles and wrists or find gentle nods with your neck.
When you are ready,
Gather this embrace of trust,
Of connection,
Of love and allow the miracle that you are expand into the universe in a full body stretch.
You may now open your eyes and continue with your day knowing that you,
Exactly as you are and exactly as you feel,
Are a miracle.
You are loved.
You matter.
Carry on dear friend.
God Bless.
