Why do we need to meditate regularly?
In the beginning,
When we take up the practice of meditation,
It is possible that we can meditate for only a few minutes at a stretch.
However,
As and how we practice meditation,
Day after day,
We find that we are able to meditate,
Really meditate,
For longer and longer periods each time.
Each day when we meditate,
We generally start off by composing the body in a comfortable posture.
Very often,
Even this proves to be a challenge for many of us.
We may twist and turn,
Trying to find a comfortable position.
Once we are ready and seated,
We then try unplugging the mind and the senses.
Next,
We bring our focus on light in the heart,
All the while maintaining our attention there as we meditate.
As we start practicing meditation regularly,
We become better and better at it.
In this way,
Every day,
We increase our ability to take command of our minds and bodies.
We discover each day that place within ourselves where there is serenity and balance.
Each meditation,
However short,
Adds up.
The wonderful stillness and silence of the heart soothes us.
The effects of regularly meditating are so very generous and manifold.
They have to be experienced to be believed.
