Could it take just another few seconds and let as many people as can?
Get logged in and on so that we can begin our study.
There's a lot to look at together.
Ender.
I'll repeat this several times.
Today's talk is in two parts.
They are married hand in hand,
But each can help you grasp something that you may have not grasped before.
Best if you can take in both parts.
So,
Katie,
Let's bring up the talk title.
And then we will get started.
The title of our material today is Everything You Need to Know to End Painful Self-Talk.
So ever so quickly,
To be sure I'm talking to the right group of people,
How many of you are involved in dark dialogues that are very painful in more than one way?
Just a quick yes will be enough.
I want to make sure that we have the right context for our interior work.
Now I'm gonna ask Kate to bring up the.
.
.
One and only key lesson in a moment here.
And I'm not going to have time to go into it,
But if you listen closely today and of course tomorrow,
God willing.
You'll begin to understand something that is right in front of your eyes,
But you need spiritual eyes to be able to see it.
So Katie,
Let's bring up the one and only key lesson for today,
Please.
If you're following it,
Reads.
The worship of an imagined good and its false light.
Began the moment we came to know evil and its legion of shadows.
The worship of an imagined good and its false light began the moment we came to know evil and its legion of shadows.
So here's a quick story to set the stage.
Maybe set a little bit of light on that.
Key lesson.
It's an old story.
I'll tell it quickly because I'm trusting that maybe most of you remember at least parts of it.
Here's two friends.
They're walking down the street.
They take walks every day.
It's their routine.
Only in one day,
One of them is a little more silent than usual.
End.
We'll say Ben.
Turns to Henry and says,
Henry,
What's going on?
And Henry says,
Nothing,
Nothing,
Nothing.
And Ben says,
All right.
And they walk a little further.
And then Henry says,
You know,
Ben,
I know you asked me,
So I'm going to go ahead and ask you because you want to know why I'm kind of quiet today.
Ben says,
Yes,
And Henry says,
Tell me truthfully.
Are the voices in my head bothering you?
Are the voices in my head bothering you?
In other words,
I'm walking with you,
But I'm not really with you.
We're talking,
But I'm not really on the same line.
Because my mind is more deeply involved in a conversation with myself.
Usually and almost always connected to some conflict or some problem or some hope that I have.
Where my time and attention belongs to a level of consciousness that is unconscionable in the way that it takes me out of life.
And throws me into a constant kind of.
.
.
Competition with the moment.
Stealing from me what the moment is intended to give me.
Do I need to explain that any further or do you all understand that little story and how it relates on a day-to-day,
Moment-to-moment basis?
So let's take a nice deep breath and get into this.
And I want to be very clear.
I am not a historian by any stretch of the imagination.
Most of it in terms of the world is not interesting to me other than in the way in which There is a relationship between above and below and how history repeats itself.
Because we don't learn the lesson in the actual moment.
So I don't want you to miss.
The point here that I'm not trying to convey to you some historical facts so that you can repeat them,
Let alone drive an identity.
I want you to see in what I'm going to talk to you about the relationship between our life,
Our mind,
Our consciousness,
And what these stories intend to convey.
And we're going to start with relating three stories together,
Two of them most of us know,
And you'll understand that in a moment.
But how these ancient stories.
Are actually intended to be,
Are sewn into time.
Not as separate events the way they seem and time presents them,
But as a single revelation,
Actually.
Where these myths,
These stories describe to whatever extent it's capable of being seen in this instance for today's talk.
A fall in human consciousness.
And how this fall in human consciousness is not history,
But it is in fact the story of me and you today.
And that's going to be the platform for our studies in part one and part two.
This is not the usual fair by any stretch of the imagination.
It is intended to set the stage so that when we get to the more in-depth psychological aspect of it,
Moving into the micro lessons as opposed to the macrocosmic view we're going to have at this outset today.
We will see that these ancient myths present and preserve a certain psychological set of facts in dramatic form.
They can tell us what has happened or is happening in our consciousness by presenting that movement as in the image of a garden,
A tree,
A flood,
A tower,
A journey,
Or an exile,
All of which are familiar images,
Archetypes that run through these ancient stories.
But for us,
The question isn't really,
Did that happen once?
But rather the more demanding question is,
Is this taking place here and now?
Not did that happen and what does that mean and who found a right stone and found that cuneiform that not all of that's absolute nonsense,
Unless an individual can begin to connect.
What is essentially a series of stories passed down,
All intended to convey a truth that can only be presented in the form they're presented for the reasons you're about to learn today.
Everybody following me so far?
So we're going to make a transition here.
There is a.
.
.
Probably one of the most famous.
And look,
Forgive me in advance for messing up the way words are pronounced if I do.
I'm not trying to give you something to go and check in your AI stuff.
There is an old,
Old Sumerian epic story.
That was ubiquitous,
So to speak,
In Mesopotamian times.
It was entitled,
And Merker and the Lord of Arata.
And Merker and the Lord of Arata.
Don't write it down,
Just listen.
This story was told in cuneiform.
That was really the earliest form of writing.
It was like a clay tablet and they would make markings on it.
And so this cuneiform story dates back roughly,
They say,
2100,
2500 BCE,
And it makes it significantly older than the books of the Old Testament,
The books in Genesis.
And this story tells about a fierce rivalry between Enmerkar,
Who was a king,
Of some place.
In Samaria.
And a rivalry with a ruler,
Another ruler or king of a distant highland kingdom.
Now the heart of their conflict.
Was that.
And Merkur.
He wanted to a construct,
A tower.
In the name of a certain goddess,
Inanna.
And she was the goddess of fearsome powers.
The destroyer of mountains who would not bow down to her.
But in order to build this monument,
To this goddess of war.
So to speak,
He didn't have the stuff that he needed.
So he reached out to the king across the other way and asked if the king would give him what he needed so that he could build this tower.
The other king says,
No,
I'm not going to give you that.
Not unless you make a lot of concessions to me because these two kings representing a certain,
Um,
A level of ego were,
Were,
Were more or less enemies in one respect.
I don't want to go too deep.
Now the narrative that I'm describing to you relates how this conflict that they were in which in this world we would say was geopolitical.
But in fact,
It was based on a certain set of spiritual ambitions.
That they both had as separate rulers of separate kingdoms.
And to the point,
That rivalry itself was in effect.
Of a deep-seated cosmic conflict.
That these two kings reflected as a result of being in a relationship with a pair of divine half-brothers.
So the world.
Was in a tension because there was a kind of tension between these celestial beings.
The one being,
His name was Enlil,
And he was kind of the supreme,
But at the same time the half-brother of Enki.
Also known as moody mood or something like that.
Who that Enki was often depicted as a serpent,
By the way,
Due to his role as a clever,
In quotes,
Knowledge bringing protector of humanity.
So as we'll see.
This story that I'm telling you now about Enmakar in Lil and Enka is a precursor in Mesopotamian times to the biblical tower of Babel.
Where?
As reported in this cuneiform story from the time of Samaria,
Once upon a time there was no fear,
No terror,
And man had no rival.
In those days,
In Sumeria,
The whole universe People at large spoke one tongue.
In one tongue,
And all spoke equally of their main entity,
Enlil.
I'm hoping I'm communicating this well enough.
So that in essence,
That tablet.
From Samaria saying that people's consciousness was undivided.
And that they were able to commune with each other rather effortlessly because all spoke a single language.
And because all spoke and lived from a single language with the same meaning,
There was no internal division amongst the people,
Therefore no fears,
And there were no enemies,
In quote,
That threatened that time or place.
Got that picture in mind?
And then.
.
.
And then Enki,
The half brother to the god Enlil,
Enki,
Out of jealousy,
Wants to break the hole that his half-brother Enlil has over the people,
Because the people are all worshiping Enlil in a single tongue for a single reason.
So out of jealousy,
Enki casts a dark spell,
An enchantment,
Using his mastery over magic and this is out of the cuneiform,
To change the speech in the mouths of all people so that no one could understand anyone else.
He cast a spell over what was a uniform consciousness and a uniform language to change the speech in the mouths of all the people so no one could understand anyone else.
Now if you're following,
And I trust that you are,
In this myth,
We can see it predates the Tower of Babel in Genesis.
Where according to the Tower of Babel in Genesis,
Humanity falls into a conflict-bred form of confusion.
Pretty much the same reason everyone falling,
In quotes,
Into a state of being where no one can communicate with each other.
Without some form of unmediated relationship.
So the idea of a direct intuitive of one tongue from one mind,
It's gone.
So that in this tower of Babel,
Which the Sumerian legion was thousands of years before it.
Speaks to this idea that as all of this confusion was sown in,
Which I'll explain,
The only way to bridge this confusion,
This chasm of misunderstanding,
Was then people had to externalize their thoughts into words and symbols.
And keep in mind now,
Words and symbols that no one saw,
Read,
Or understood in the same context as created.
So once there was a common language,
A common understanding,
A common heart,
A common mind.
And then both the Sumerian myth and the myth from the Bible,
From Genesis,
The Tower of Babel,
It reports that all of a sudden this universal tongue is disrupted.
And in that disruption,
How humanity falls into a deeply divided level of being.
Separated from this unified spiritual awareness that allowed humanity to be on the same page without enemies.
The way we understand them now.
Everybody get this.
Because I'm going to make a big transition now.
Now for most people today.
This traditional Teaching that comes from what we call Holy Scripture.
It presents and describes the first fall.
The one that.
Predates the Tower of Babel.
It presents the first fall as a vertical separation.
Think of a cross.
The vertical separation is that prior to the fall in the Garden of Eden,
And do not go into memory,
Just think of the Garden of Eden as being a place where,
A time when,
The soul of humanity in all of its aspects was in direct relationship with that which had given life,
Blown life into it.
So that God and mankind,
Womankind,
That they shared a single time,
A single understanding,
And that everything in that garden,
Including the animals,
Everything understood everything else.
There was no language required.
It was a direct communion.
So this vertical separation is that that's how it was.
And then all of a sudden,
So to speak.
When the,
Apple was eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil in that moment.
Instead of a single understanding,
The birth of a binary thinking happened.
Suddenly there was this idea.
Where,
Um,
Uh.
.
.
Of a separate self.
Had to think about itself.
Where prior to that vertical separation between the divine and human consciousness as reflected in the soul,
Prior to that,
There was no fear.
There was no fear or anxiety,
Greed,
Or shame in the Garden of Eden.
It says as much.
This is a myth.
You have to understand these as interior stories.
So,
So-called,
A serpent comes along.
And by the way,
It was not called the devil until centuries later.
Representing a certain Divided That's what the tongue was,
The divided mind,
And temps Eve.
In quotes.
To take from this knowledge of good and evil.
And in the minute moment where,
So to speak,
That fall took place,
The fall was from one order of awareness into a lower order of self-consciousness.
From one form of awareness in which there was no division into the fact that the soul,
In quotes,
Instead of having this unity,
Fell into a state of self-consciousness.
Separate from the divine,
As that story says,
Suddenly they're ashamed of being naked.
God said,
Well,
Who told you?
Now keep in mind.
That prior to this duality,
It had been a monad,
A singularity.
Where there was not this division.
But a fulfillment of a sense of being that now is gone because that mind sees everything as separate from itself.
This represents the birth of individual ego.
Again,
Don't listen to me.
Please don't listen to my words,
My description.
I'm describing something that if and when and as you go into this interior laboratory,
You'll start to see what all these stories are trying to convey to you.
Because now,
Suddenly,
We're cast out of the garden.
What's the garden?
This communion,
This effortless relationship where meaning isn't derived from thoughts and images,
But it is a direct conveyance of conscience.
Now we're separate from that.
Cast out from that divine unity.
And instead,
We are in quotes,
Anchored into a linear line of time,
A mortal existence.
Now,
Another big important point.
And stated even after this fall.
Which you have to remember was so far back that there weren't,
You have to,
I'll get to this,
The remnants in quotes of humanity.
Still shared a horizontal connection.
They weren't connected directly anymore vertically with in a sense of being in the kingdom of heaven though on earth and doing the heavens will.
Humanity at that point still spoke with one tongue.
And still shared a collective human fabric born of an undivided lineage,
Which is what Genesis goes through.
So humanity had retained a kind of horizontal unity.
Where it is said that people remained with one language and speech that they had lost in the garden.
But yet not lost with one another.
But slowly.
That shared life began to take on and be used for another purpose.
Now,
Understanding the other purpose that began to usurp this essential,
At least horizontal unity,
Requires understanding the second story as told in Genesis about the Tower of Babel.
It is a myth like the one in Sumerian writing.
Only this myth represents a secondary fracture,
A horizontal fracture,
Not just the vertical one,
But a horizontal one where before there was still a common tongue.
And still men and women understood each other.
In a lineage,
Now there was a separation between human and human.
Before it wasn't between human and human.
It was between divine and the human soul.
Now the separation is between human and human and being separated from the divine.
As the case fell,
In the original,
Here we're divided.
This human ego,
This separatist self,
This duality,
It has fear.
It grows ambitious and in the story it tries to build a tower.
It's taught to reach the heavens,
And again,
From scripture,
In order to make a name for themselves.
That's why the tower was built,
In order to make a name for themselves.
Not to glorify God,
But to anchor themselves as being substantial and vital to the well-being of all that would be beneath that tower.
So these words,
To make a name for themselves,
Reveals the actual structure,
The inner foundation for the reason of that tower.
Because having lost conscious relationship with the source of their being.
The people then in there try to replace what has been on one hand lost with something that they can construct.
So now they want an identity that will reach heaven.
They want an identity born out of building upward,
Something of their own design in their own name,
So that upon reaching the heavens,
They can reclaim what they believe they lost since they do,
But out of fear,
Have no idea how to reenter into that relationship with the divine.
Everybody's still following me.
I've got to keep tracking here.
Now Genesis.
Makes a very curious point.
I'm just going to fly over it.
It makes this point that these humans had to use brick instead of stone.
Now,
Why would it call that out?
Remember,
This is a story.
A spiritual story because of brick.
Is by nature shaped by human hands according to a uniform design using materials assembled by the human being.
So the tower of Babel.
Is actually built from manufactured pieces,
Just as is the self back in that time,
Trying to collect and gather everything it needs to feel safe and secure,
When it can't any longer,
Because it's separated from the source of security.
So the tower is built from manufactured pieces,
As is the towers in our lives,
Names,
Memories,
Opinions,
Beliefs,
The roles we play,
The conclusions we reached,
All of these things that belong to a language that cannot communicate with anything else other than the nature that has designed that out of conditioning.
All of that's pressed into these familiar forms that we call our life and the contents therein.
Getting this with me.
So the story Tower of Babel goes on.
I don't know what you know about it,
But God did not destroy the tower.
Instead of knocking the tower down,
God confused the language of the people who were building it.
So that they could no longer understand one another.
And when they could no longer understand one another,
They couldn't communicate how to create what they had to do.
So they stopped building both the city and the tower.
And the final result was that they were scattered across the face of the earth,
Probably because nobody could get along,
Let alone know what they were doing anymore,
Because now everybody had a separate idea of what the tower was and how to build it.
Now,
Really important,
Because as God scattered the five,
This is the Tower of Babel in Genesis is five generations after the flood.
Five generations,
How many people do you think are brought into this world five generations after the flood,
Where only a select number of people were saved from it?
Again,
This is a story,
Don't get caught up.
It couldn't have been that many people.
So when it says God spread them,
Scattered them across the earth with these different languages,
How many languages could have there been back then?
Think about it.
There couldn't have been that many languages.
In fact,
There probably was only one or two or three,
If there was that.
But now in quotes,
There's all of these languages that nobody can understand.
Languages being a word that represents the way in which we communicate ideas.
And now that we are separated in our consciousness,
Everything about our consciousness tries to convey to everyone and everything else around it what we mean.
And what you need to know that you don't understand that I do.
And so this division grows and accelerates so that no longer just separated from the divine and one another,
Now we're locked out of understanding one another.
Still with me on this?
Gotta keep rolling.
At this point,
Any possibility of empathy.
Real compassion,
Mutual understanding becomes almost impossible.
Because every subsequent culture and ultimately every individual ego now speaks its own insular language.
By the way,
The word for that was idiotic.
Idiotic,
Which is not far removed from the word idiot.
That was idiotic.
A separate life,
A separate person,
A separate story.
What I'm describing to you,
If you can now make this leap with me.
Does it not mirror the world we inhabit today?
A hyper-individualized,
Deeply fragmented reality where communication,
In quotes,
Is mediated all the time.
By a certain set of external tools,
Technologies,
Screens,
AI,
Where rather than direct emphatic resonance,
Of a human being being in line with and aligned with what they are looking at,
Talking to,
Or studying.
Everything about our life is a derivative of a language that we don't understand unless it was our own,
And even our own language we don't understand is proven by the ignorance that is uttered from us as we try to convey what we believe is true.
So the bottom line is that the bottom in quotes of this cascade.
There is this illusion,
On one hand,
Where of course I understand.
One day I'll make you understand my language.
My language being what?
My conditioning.
The words that I was bred with that make the most sense to bring to me or keep from me what it is that I desire or I don't want.
So now what's happened with each subsequent fall,
The illusion of separation becomes increasingly real.
While at the same time,
The reality of this separation is cemented in us by our resistance to anyone and anything that doesn't understand what we're saying or what we want.
Still tracking with me?
So I'm not proposing that there is some proof.
I told you,
I'm not a historian.
I'm given a certain thing to look at and understand.
And then as necessary,
I will go and follow the instructions.
I'll follow,
I'll look for the messages and I'll present to you what I am shown.
I'm not trying to prove a sequence of events.
I'm asking whether or not these stories that I've described placed beside one another reveal a possible deeper,
Longer lasting spiritual storyline.
Where if we can see it,
Eyes to see,
We can see there's a continuous fall from an original unity into a divided consciousness.
And in each subsequent level of that division created more and more private worlds in which no one understands one another because all we want from each other is them to understand our world and to support it,
I might add.
If this broader Storyline.
In quotes.
Written across thousands and thousands of years.
Reported.
By those few men and women who in their time could see what was actually befalling human consciousness.
Were capable of creating these myths and legends so as to convey what the mind and language of the day couldn't possibly understand.
They were reaching to the part of a human being that was still united to something higher,
So that in that higher light,
That man or woman might see the lower values that had become the value of their life.
So if we can see that there is this descent taking place.
We can see then that the value of these stories don't depend upon proving what happened once long ago.
Its value is that it reveals what is happening now.
It's mind-blowing that men and women,
And I'm not denigrating them,
Each of us must follow our heart,
Do what we are given to do.
How can a person spend their whole life studying a bone?
Without putting together the body.
And the whole of the mechanism that produced that.
Phenomena.
So that we see in parts,
Like the five blind men looking at the elephant,
We see in parts that which can only be understood the meaning of it in the whole.
So if we can see how consciousness has fallen.
And how this unconscious nature propagates the very pain born of its own divided actions,
Then perhaps we can begin to understand what is required of us.
We.
To whatever extent it's true.
Are weary.
Of forever trying to get the world and the people around it to build our tower or to support it or to work for us according to our idea of what is required for us to be secure.
Perhaps we can begin to rise above that level that these stories represent as they go through their iteration,
Because that's where these old storylines become immediate.
But only if we can see that.
Each of us speaks.
A personal language shaped by individual experience.
Even families.
The word love doesn't carry the same association for my brother as it does for me.
My idea of success doesn't touch his idea,
Unless there are certain parallels that connect where both of us can be profitable for understanding.
Failure doesn't have the same meaning.
Loyalty,
Justice,
Family,
God.
We sit at a table with friends and family and we use identical words,
But each of us speak the word from a place where we inhabit a completely different world than the person we're talking to,
By and large.
So as a result,
When I speak with you,
I don't meet you without interpretation.
You can't see it.
I know that you can't.
When you're talking to someone before you're talking to them,
Memory is telling you who they are and who you are.
And Lil' N Anky.
Both striving in one way or another to protect and keep in place whatever the monument is to themselves.
And we all have a monument erected to ourselves.
It's called our attachments.
But attachments that we are,
That we,
That we.
Carry and cling to because the object and the language used to describe them validates the consciousness that created that in the first place.
So I don't meet you.
I meet what I want to encounter.
That's what desire does.
So I don't meet the moment rather fear imagines what the moment might happen.
Or what might happen with you and I if our conversation doesn't go as planned.
So the idea of luggage becomes different that we towed around our luggage.
We towed around a tower.
A tower.
Born of a building this of a self that keeps building itself in order to escape the effect,
The karma of that consciousness that can only create bricks.
Made of scar that have to collapse.
So you have to see it.
You're talking to people.
Have you ever had a conversation with somebody and after you're done talking to them,
You start talking to yourself?
And what are you talking to yourself about when you're talking about that conversation you had or one from 50 years ago?
What are you talking about?
I am translating in that moment what you said into a language I can live with.
And by the way,
The language that I can live with always has built into it some form of judgment that wants to make sure it keeps me superior to above that which I am judging,
That which my own language has first created,
Not my own.
This fallen nature so that everything can remain in place.
But the awareness.
To see this movement that I'm describing to you.
The awareness that can see this movement belongs to a level of consciousness that is not wholly trapped within it.
Only the awareness of this Fallen!
Separate.
Self.
It's selfishness.
All of its shallow plans.
Every last one of them,
By the way,
That has this enticement,
Every last one is another brick in a tower you don't see until you get there or do that.
And then you either see on the place or when you get home,
Another tower,
Another collapse,
Another emptiness.
Now,
What do I do?
And without understanding it,
Because you can't see the mind creating that conflict,
You go right back into making bricks again.
So the moment we can see this fall.
That movement that is a fall,
The movement of thought is always falling.
Doesn't matter what it says it's building.
To be in thought is to be falling.
Because it's dividing in order to understand.
So when we can have an awareness that enters into and envelops this mechanical sequence in that awareness alone exists the possibility of an alternative life,
A completely different understanding.
We can't manufacture this original unity.
And if you haven't seen it,
It's because every effort of this fallen,
Divided self to construct wholeness is really just building another tower.
Why do you think religions grow and then divide and divide and divide,
And then Christian hates Christian,
Jew hates Jew,
Or other religions hold the others as the objects of their disdain?
Because that's the nature of this consciousness.
It can't do anything else.
But we,
You and I,
Can become aware of this builder within and stop supplying it with the bricks it needs to mount its efforts.
This awareness that I'm describing in action.
Not only changes the moment we're talking with people,
The language we use.
You know,
An awakened person uses language that by and large,
They're aware of before they speak it.
Instead of having to defend something that's come out of your mouth,
You didn't know was coming that we're going to look at together tomorrow.
But to the point of this talk,
Part one,
Again,
An introduction for tomorrow's study,
Part two of how to end painful self-talk.
We're gonna look at where and when.
As we do this work to see not just why.
We talk to ourselves in what are ultimately unseen acts of self-limitation,
Self-destruction.
Not just why we talk to ourselves,
But how this takes place and keeps taking place inside of us.
How this unconscious nature that starts these dialogues hopes.
That if it can just talk to itself enough,
Judge itself enough,
Console itself with enough words.
If it can just do that,
It might just get far enough in that conversation to escape its own sense of separation,
Along with the fear born of trying to escape it.
Imagine in pain talking to yourself.
So that that same consciousness,
The nature separate in its essence,
Discovers and imagines a word or a time or an image where it won't be like that,
And then it talks itself through getting there in time,
Failing to see that every time it gets there,
It's already creating another language to disarm or otherwise excuse or justify why it's still frightened.
So for now and always.
If nothing else,
If you can't join me tomorrow.
Watch.
Look at how in any conversation with others or with yourself.
Again,
That's tomorrow.
How instantaneous,
I can start defending my own thoughts to myself.
I become anxious talking to you.
I can be ambitious with no knowledge that I'm in competition with you.
See how quickly this nature supplies the bricks,
The language,
Erects the walls.
And then learn to watch that and remain present long enough to discover.
Whether or not that movement whether the awareness of your tower building efforts belongs to the tower builder or that that which can see the futility of trying to build and erect one more tower in your own name,
Because that same light that reveals the temptation to fall.
Imagine the temptation to fall,
The same light that reveals the temptation to fall is the beginning of your,
Of my freedom from it.
Again tomorrow.
We will go more deeply into this and have some direct.
A communication about how it's possible that we can begin to end this constant Painful self-talk.
Where instead of being captives,
We can become new human beings living from a united consciousness.
So I've got looks like four or five minutes left.
Have a conversation with you if there's any of you that would wish to speak,
Say something.
Now is the time and I'm happy to.
Engage.
Of course,
You're very welcome.
If nothing,
Then we'll say goodbye.
It's not a problem.
Maybe something will formulate it if you watch.
Remember,
You're the lab.
What you bring into that lab,
Your work,
Your wish,
Every last part of it.
Becomes,
If you will,
The next set of explorations and the next discovery.
Nicole says,
So the fall of man.
Is the line on the timeless cross.
The fall of man is represented in one respect by the cross.
Because we can see that there is this vertical representing the kingdom of heaven.
All-encompassing love.
And then it intersects this line of time.
The line of time represents what happened when we fell.
It represents this consciousness that doesn't know itself apart from what it is trying to complete itself with in a time to come that doesn't exist.
Other than in the language of that fallen mind promising itself that it will find some pleasure or freedom from pain in a time to come that,
By the way,
It imagines into existence only to find out too late it imagined what was real.
And it turned out not to be.
And then the whole thing starts again.
It doesn't have to start again.
You don't have to fall.
And you don't pick yourself up,
That's a lot of crud.
What you see is there's something that you are drawn to,
That wants to pull you into,
That which one more time continues,
Celebrates,
And makes real whatever this sense of self is that's so valuable to us.
This is what it means to die to oneself.
But in order to die to oneself,
One has to be in a place where one can see the self that has passed itself off as you.
And it is this consciousness as represented in this old Sumerian tale.
In the fall in the garden,
The Tower of Babel.
And probably if I did more time and in exploration,
Probably a dozen other stories exactly like that.
This is what it means not to learn from the past.
But to use what passes through us.
To understand we are still a part of that past and still perpetuating it in our unconsciousness.
