Hello,
This is Guy Finley and I'm glad to be with you again as we go into the 15th of our 31 Keys to Change Your Destiny.
I think that one of the most important things that we all need to keep in mind,
Especially as we study these 31 Keys,
Is that it's always the right time to choose in favor of being free.
I know that most of us think that's what we're always doing,
But when we think about,
As we discussed in the very last Key,
Something that we need to do or have to fill our emptiness,
It seems to us like we're choosing to be free in that moment.
But what we're actually doing is identifying with a bunch of thoughts and feelings,
Images,
If you will,
That promise freedom to come when we acquire or achieve what we've imagined.
The reason that that isn't the same as choosing to be free is because the actual action of choosing to be free is to see what it is that we are agreeing to identify with that is keeping us a captive of a time to come.
And that's why the 15th Key,
Which is stop explaining yourself,
Is so important to all of us.
If our heart is set on true self-transformation,
Meaning a change in our being so that our future becomes brighter,
More full of what you and I know and hope to realize as a higher kind of freedom,
Then we have to do the inner work of keeping ourselves before the mirror of the moment,
If you will,
Looking into it fearlessly so as to recognize what it is in us that's about to act.
Here's an example.
So many times we find ourselves explaining ourselves to others.
We don't really want to do it,
But there's something in us that's telling us,
Literally talking to us behind the scenes,
If you will,
Saying that if we don't explain ourselves to this person or justify ourselves even to ourselves,
That we stand to lose something.
And that's the beauty of this particular key,
That by choosing to be conscious of ourselves in that moment,
Looking at the mirror of ourselves in that moment,
We can see that in that same split second,
We are being compromised by a part of our own consciousness that's telling us who and what we are actually has something to lose because someone else doesn't approve of us,
Because something doesn't go the way we want it to go.
When we understand that we need never explain ourselves to anyone for any reason,
That's the same as understanding in that moment that who and what we are doesn't have to explain itself because we are present enough in that moment to perceive the part of us that has acted in our stead so that if an apology is necessary,
Which it may be from time to time,
We offer it,
But not to protect ourselves and certainly not to explain ourselves,
But rather to be a part of that higher nature that understands it cannot act against itself and before itself at the same time.
I trust you'll join me tomorrow for the sixteenth of our keys,
Which is laugh in the face of defeat and what a great day that is when we're no longer afraid of what others think of us or what tomorrow may bring.
