
Warm, Healing Light

Using the image of a soft orb of light, this meditation is meant to help you nourish yourself by offering yourself peace, kindness, love, or whatever it is that you currently need. It can be particularly useful during difficult circumstances, especially if you have depression or anxiety. This practice is most effective when it's used in a place that is safe and quiet.
Transcript
Hi,
Welcome.
We're going to begin this meditation by settling into a safe,
Comfortable place.
You may be seated or lying down.
You can also stand if that works best for you.
If you find your position uncomfortable at any time,
Feel free to move to make the necessary adjustments.
And begin to close your eyes or allow the eyes to remain open with your gaze settled on a spot in front of you.
And begin taking a mental scan,
Just a light scan of the body starting from the head,
Moving down to the shoulders,
The arms,
The torso,
To the pelvic region,
And to the legs,
Down all the way to the tips of your toes.
And just notice how the body feels now.
Is it tight?
Perhaps it's relaxed?
Just in general,
Noticing what's going on in the body right now.
Refraining from being critical or judging,
Being angry at whatever it is you're feeling,
There's no need for that.
Just noticing,
Observing,
Asking what's here,
How do I feel right now,
And allowing whatever response you may give.
And beginning to let go of the focus on the body,
Imagine in front of you,
You see an orb of light,
Not huge,
Not very,
Very small,
Maybe big enough to fit in your hands.
If you were to cup your hands as you would to pick up some water,
This orb of light would fit right there.
This light you see is whatever color you feel is right to you.
It's very,
Very special.
It holds whatever you feel like you really need right now,
Whether it be peace,
Health,
Freedom from anxiety,
Love,
Whatever you feel like you need.
It could be multiple things,
It doesn't have to be just one.
It's all infused in this orb of light floating before you softly.
Take a moment to observe this light,
Noting what type of nourishment it contains for you.
Recognize that this orb of light is just for you.
It's yours and it contains what you need right now.
Imagine that this orb of light is just for you.
Imagine that this orb of light begins slowly floating upward until it's just above your head and it moves so that it is directly above your head.
And it gently slowly begins to lower until it touches the top of your head.
And at this spot where it touches your head,
Begins to enter your body and begin to absorb this light just here at the top of the head.
And it's warm.
It contains healing and softening and any other bit of nourishment that you need,
Emotional or physical.
It's almost as though you've stepped under a stream of warm,
Pleasant water.
And it settles there at the top of the head.
And then it begins to move down to your forehead,
Your eyebrows,
Down to your eyes,
Around the back of the head,
To the ears,
The nose,
The cheeks,
Your lips,
Your jaw,
Your chin.
And it continues moving down into the neck,
Front and back,
Softening,
Soothing,
And enriching,
Depositing these nutrients,
This sensation that you need right now as it goes down,
Warming and healing.
It continues down into the shoulders,
Easing gently into the chest,
The upper back,
Even into the upper arms,
Warming,
Softening,
Soothing,
And healing.
Continuing down to the belly,
The lower back,
To the elbows,
The forearms,
Deeply penetrating into the body,
Nourishing,
Strengthening,
And yet softening and soothing as it goes.
Filling your body with this sensation,
With the nourishment you are seeking right now.
It has that and it's just putting it right into your body.
And it continues moving into the hands,
To each of the fingers,
All the way up to the tips,
And continuing down into the pelvic region,
Warming and soothing,
And from there into the upper legs,
The front,
Back of the thigh,
Deep into the muscle,
The bone,
Soothing,
Warming,
Healing,
Both spirit and body and mind.
Continuing down slowly,
Gently into the knees,
Front of the back,
And from there deep into the lower legs,
The shins,
The calf muscles,
Warming and soothing,
Healing and nourishing,
Filling the body with this light,
This nourishment,
This peace.
And from there down to the ankles,
And into the heels of the feet,
And from there into the rest of the foot itself,
The pads on the bottom and the tops,
All the way into the toes,
Warming even these little toes until they reach the top.
And every portion,
Every part of your body is filled,
Is warmed,
Is soothed by this orb of light,
Your orb of light,
Calming you,
Strengthening you,
Nourishing and healing you.
Allow yourself to just feel this,
This fullness,
This light.
And then imagine that the orb of light reappears before you,
Coming out of you until it's once again floating before you,
That gentle,
Beautiful,
Healing orb of light.
Let me take a moment to thank this light.
Thank it for what it has done for you today in this moment.
You notice that this orb of light is beginning to float towards you,
But not back to the top of your head.
You know,
It's just right in front of you where you can just reach out and touch it.
So you do,
You reach out both arms and allow this light to rest in your hands.
It just sits there glowing.
You can feel the warmth of this light against your hands,
The palms and the fingers.
You bring that light up closer to you and place it against your chest right in front of your heart.
And there the light enters and it resides just there.
This light is a part of you now.
It's right there.
It's with you.
Whenever you need,
You can always use this orb of light again and you can change what it means,
What it contains for you.
It doesn't have to hold the same thing.
It's yours.
You get to choose.
You can take this orb of light again,
Whenever you need or whenever you would just like to feel that once again.
Take note of that in your mind.
Feel free to use this practice as many times,
As often as you'd like.
It's yours.
All,
All yours.
Now take a moment to thank yourself.
Offer yourself a bit of kindness.
For giving yourself this moment to heal and work with yourself just a little.
And take a deep breath.
Begin welcoming yourself back into your surroundings.
Opening the eyes,
Being careful if it's particularly bright in your environment.
This is not to hurt your eyes.
You're just coming back,
Maybe stretching,
Moving around,
Welcoming yourself back into this moment.
And here you are.
Hopefully just a little calmer.
Just feeling a little better than you were before.
