Find a comfortable position.
You don't have to be okay right now.
You don't have to take a deep breath and smile through it.
You don't have to be the bigger person yet.
You just have to be here.
Something just happened and your body knows it,
Even if you're still trying to process what just hit you and why it hit so hard.
You're not crazy.
You're not weak.
You are someone who just came into contact with something that doesn't operate by normal rules,
And your nervous system responded accordingly.
This meditation isn't going to ask you to forgive.
It isn't going to tell you to let it go.
It's going to help you come back to yourself so that you get to decide what happens next,
Not them.
Start by feeling your feet.
Wherever they are right now,
On the floor,
Tucked behind you,
Flat on the ground.
Just feel them.
Press them down gently.
Feel the resistance of something solid beneath you.
That ground isn't going anywhere.
It doesn't move based on their mood.
It doesn't shift based on what they said.
It is just here,
And so are you.
Now take a breath.
Not to calm down.
Just a check-in.
Scan your body slowly.
Start at the top of your head.
You notice any tension there?
About behind your eyes.
Move down to your jaw.
Your throat.
Your shoulders.
Your chest.
Don't try to change anything yet,
Just notice.
You might feel heat.
You might feel tightness.
He might feel that specific kind of exhaustion that comes from being activated by the same person once again.
Notice at all.
It's information,
Not a verdict on you.
Now feel your feet again.
They're still there.
They're still solid.
They're still yours.
I want to try something with you.
See if you can take one small step back from the heat of this moment.
Not away from it,
Just enough to witness it.
Imagine you're standing just beside yourself,
Watching.
You can see yourself,
The one who just read that message or listened to that phone call or voicemail.
The one whose chest just got tight before you even finished the sentence.
The one who has learned through painful experience to read between every line and question every word because there is always something between the lines.
You're not overreacting.
You have learned to feel what's coming because you had to.
What they sent wasn't random.
It was calculated to get exactly this response.
To reach inside you and pull a string they no longer have any right to pull.
And here's what's true.
You can't logic your way out of this.
There is no argument that lands.
There is no explanation that satisfies.
There is no version of this conversation that ends the way a normal conversation ends.
That's not a failure of your communication skills.
That's just the reality of who you're dealing with.
The only way out is inward.
So let's go there.
Notice the impulse.
The heat of it,
The very specific desire to respond,
To finally say the thing to make them understand.
To stop feeling so powerless by doing something,
Anything.
Don't fight it,
Just watch it.
This is a wave.
And waves do one thing inevitably.
Like a peach.
And then they begin to fall.
You don't have to make it stop.
You just have to stay with yourself a little longer than the wave lasts.
Breathe.
Feel your feet on the ground.
Don't let the heat move through you without letting it make your decisions.
Your rage is real.
Every bit of it is earned.
And it is also not the whole truth of who you are.
You are not just someone's reaction.
You are not just a response waiting to happen.
You are something they have never been able to touch,
No matter how hard they've tried.
Feel your feet.
Feel the ground.
That's yours.
Start to come back slowly.
Take a breath that's a little deeper than the last one,
Not forced,
Just a little more room.
Notice your feet again.
Notice the surface beneath you.
Notice that you are still here,
Still in your body,
Still in your life,
Still the one who gets to decide what the next moment looks like.
They don't live here.
This body is yours.
This breath is yours.
This moment is yours.
Before you respond or choose not to respond.
I want you to ask yourself one question.
Not what do I want to say.
Not what do they deserve to hear.
Ask yourself.
What does the most grounded version of me do right now?
The version who knows that their power doesn't come from reacting.
The version who has already survived more than they thought they could.
The version who is building something that person will never have access to again.
That version is still in there.
They never left.
Feel your feet on the ground.
That's you.
Whenever you're ready,
Take one more breath.
Carry your feet with you when you leave this,
Not as a metaphor,
But literally.
The next time you feel them getting inside your nervous system,
Feel your feet.
Press them into whatever is beneath you.
Come back to the ground and come back to yourself.
You are not who they say you are.
You are not what the situation has tried to make you.
You are someone who keeps choosing themselves quietly,
Imperfectly,
Relentlessly.
Just for today.
That is enough.
