In this musical meditation, Dave Hoover and I want to express the end of day, the closing of another chapter, the Taoist melancholy of impermanence. By embracing the close of a day and the temporary dying of light, we also embrace the happiness that is rebirth and also the curious wonder of night. Where light falls, darkness gives rise to what isn't yet in view. Sunset is that time when we can be grateful for the day that was and the day that will come. It's also when we get to experience the excitement of night and what hides in it. The Yin and Yang of each making everything revolve. For this, Dave plays guzheng and I play piano with some audio effects hidden beneath it all. In the end, it's the quiet stillness that allows everything to rise and move again, whether it be by day or by night.
