Good morning.

Meditating first thing in the morning is a great way to begin your day.

You just start by settling into a comfortable position.

You may want to sit up in your bed or in a chair,

On the floor or any spot that feels right to you.

Start by becoming aware of how you're feeling right now.

Maybe you woke up full of energy and ready to start the day.

Or maybe you feel a little sluggish from a restless night's sleep with a lot on your mind.

Maybe you had sweet dreams or perhaps you were up worrying about something going on in your life right now.

Simply sit with whatever you're feeling as you're beginning your day.

Just notice the feelings that come and go.

Some may feel like residue from the day before or from overnight.

But as you breathe in and as you breathe out,

You begin to see how these thoughts and feelings just come and they also just go.

Now let's begin to explore how your body is feeling this morning.

Is there a sense of ease?

Or do you feel tight or achy in places?

In this practice we are simply noticing without any judgement at all.

Allow your body to soften as you notice any little kinks at all.

As your body softens,

You can also begin to notice any mood that's there.

If you're feeling happy or cranky,

Calm or angry,

Just bring your awareness to these feelings.

See if you can just notice where they are right now and continue breathing.

Taking note of them without clinging to a particular feeling.

If something lingers,

As thoughts and feelings often do,

Just recognise it.

Accept that it's there and send it a nurturing nod.

Know that this feeling will come and it will go,

As all feelings do.

Does the mind seem like it's settling into the morning?

No matter what's going on with you,

There is always something that you can be grateful for.

It could be that you are simply grateful that you are breathing right here,

Right now.

It could be that a loved one or a dog is nearby and you feel their presence.

It could be that the sky is blue today and that it will be tomorrow.

As you begin this day,

Take a moment to feel the gift of this day.

Maybe for a moment of appreciation that you feel alive in the gift of your body and your mind and that you have this time in your day to sit quietly,

Become centred and begin the day with a fresh attitude.

Now,

When you are ready,

You can begin your day with a sense of calm,

Peace and gratitude.

Good morning to you.

So lovely, like a friend talking to me. Oh and „nurturing nod“ is such a great expression it should be a book title!
