Welcome to this sleep meditation.
My intention for this sleep meditation is to remove the pressure of sleep and to allow for a space of deep rest,
Knowing that deep rest of the mind and body is more valuable than sleep.
And so,
For the duration of this meditation,
I invite you into the intention of rest,
Allowing your body and your mind to find deep stillness and relaxation throughout this practice,
Allowing yourself to find a comfortable laying down position,
Taking any little movements or shifts in order to find stillness,
Perhaps shaking out the ankles,
The feet and toes to release any energy of stagnancy or activation that may be keeping you from accessing deep rest.
Imagining now that there are little portals on the bottom of your feet,
The soles of each foot begin to gently open to serve as a gateway of releasing any energy from your day that doesn't need to come with you into rest.
Noticing any tingling or warmth on the soles of your feet now as these portals open,
And taking a deep breath in,
Filling all the way up,
And as you exhale,
Allowing the breath to carry any active or stagnant energy down the body to leave through the soles of the feet.
And as this energy leaves through the soles of your feet,
It finds its way back to the earth,
Where it can be held and alchemized,
Taking in another long deep breath,
And allowing the exhale to once again carry all the active or stagnant energy down the body out through the soles of the feet.
Back into the earth,
Where it can be held,
Feeling the energy releasing from your body release,
Maybe inviting another gentle rotation of the ankles,
Supporting this energy to move through.
One more deep breath,
Allowing all of the energy to move through the soles of the feet.
And when this feels complete,
Allowing your body to find stillness,
Noticing how clear and free and prepared for rest your body now feels.
And if there are any thoughts still floating through your mind,
Just asking if they'd be willing to give you some spaciousness now,
Letting your body know,
Letting your mind know that it can return to its process in the morning.
And just for now,
Seeing if your body will give you some spaciousness,
Seeing if your mind will allow for some spaciousness,
Knowing that in this moment,
Your only responsibility is to rest,
Knowing that rest is the most supportive thing you could offer your body and your mind,
And knowing that you are so safe and so held,
It's completely safe to rest now.
And in this moment,
You feel your entire body relax,
Sinking even a centimeter or two deeper into the bed below you,
Almost as if your body could sink through the bed and be held by the energy of the earth,
And as if the earth and its unconditionally loving energy rise up and hold your body here,
Feeling the gentle rise and fall of your breath like a gentle ocean wave on a calm evening,
Feeling the gentle flow rocking you into a deep sound rest,
Allowing your entire body to melt into the surface that holds you as your entire being floats into a state of deep rest,
Imagining the presence of a golden light on the crown of your head now,
Every cell this light touches is invited to shift into a state of deeper rest and relaxation,
Relaxing the crown of the head and all of the intricate muscles in the head and in the face,
Softening the forehead and the third eye,
The space in between the eyebrows,
Relaxing all of the muscles around the jaw and the ears,
Unclenching the jaw,
Allowing the teeth to separate in the mouth,
Fall to the bottom of the mouth,
And completely releasing any tension around the jaw,
Relaxing the back of the head,
The entire skull,
And allowing this relaxation to move all the way down the back of the neck,
Relaxing all of the muscles in the neck,
Relaxing the muscles in the throat,
Letting go of any tension around the vocal cords,
Softening the entire neck now,
And the space where it meets the shoulders,
Letting go of the energy and tension in the shoulders,
Relaxing the upper back,
Relaxing all of the intricate muscles of the chest,
Completely softening the heart space,
Releasing all that it holds,
Relaxing the lungs,
Allowing completely rest,
Allowing for an effortless breath,
So gentle and long and slow,
Relaxing the back of the lungs and all of the muscles along the spine,
Letting the back know that its only job is to be in rest now,
Letting go of the tension in the lower back,
And inviting each cell to fully let go,
Releasing the fascia and the tissue all along the back,
This deeply healing golden light drapes all down the back of your body now,
Fully inviting complete rest,
Allowing the belly to be so soft,
And the presence of the gentle rise and fall of the breath,
All other systems,
Muscles,
Tissues,
And cells come into full surrender now,
Inviting the entire digestive system,
Relaxing the pelvis,
All the way down the legs,
The calves,
The shins,
Relaxing the ankles,
Relaxing the feet,
The heels of the foot,
The top of the foot,
The soles,
And each individual toe,
This healing golden light washes down both legs,
Healing and relaxing every cell and fiber that it touches,
Completely letting go the arms,
Deltoids,
The biceps,
The triceps,
Relaxing the forearms and the wrists,
Relaxing the palms of the hands and the back of the hands,
And each and every individual finger,
The spaces in between the fingers,
Completely relaxing and letting go of everything that we physically and metaphorically hold onto,
Allowing the entire body to completely relax now,
Imagining this beautifully healing golden light is draped like a blanket over your entire body as your body floats into a state of deep rest,
Completely weightless and soft and free,
Drifting into deeper and deeper relaxation,
Completely held by the energy of rest,
Incredibly safe,
Completely free to just be in deep,
Sound rest,
And if you're not asleep,
No pressure,
No worries,
Just knowing that deep rest is the intention,
And in this state of deep rest,
Your body is healing and restoring in each moment that passes,
This rest is nourishment for your mind and your body and your soul,
There is nothing you even need to do here,
Just continuing to soften,
Continuing to release,
Continuing to breathe,
And allowing your body to drift further and further into the energy of rest.
