
Chronic Pain & Illness Meditation

This practice is for those who are struggling with any form of chronic illness or pain. It is designed to support physical and emotional healing and shifts on a cellular level. Listen when your body needs some additional support or when your mind needs a gentle shift to increase your capacity for holding yourself through this time.

This is a guided meditation for anyone struggling with pain or illness.
To begin this practice,
Find yourself in a comfortable position,
Either sitting up or laying down,
And just gently getting your body comfortable,
A space where it feels like you can rest for a while,
And allow this practice to be a deep and loving reset to your system.
Begin by taking a cleansing breath to welcome your body into the space today,
Breathing in softly through the nose,
Filling up the lungs and the belly,
And then very gently releasing the breath through the mouth,
Allowing all parts of the body to soften with the exhale,
Breathing in,
Bringing new vital and healing energy into the body,
Breathing out,
Allowing the body to soften and surrender.
Allow all parts of yourself to arrive here today,
All parts of you welcome,
The parts that feel bone level,
Tired,
The parts that feel achy,
The parts that feel afraid or unsure,
The parts that feel active with pain,
And also the parts that feel safe,
The parts that feel just a little more comfortable having this permission to rest,
The parts that feel hopeful and eager to engage with life,
Welcoming all of your parts into this moment today,
Knowing that there's space for them too,
And if it feels hard to hold these parts,
I invite you to call in the presence of an energetic being or guide,
Perhaps a loved one on the other side,
Or maybe even an animal totem,
Some form of spiritual support that can hold you energetically as you hold your body here in this.
Take a moment to really feel the support that has arrived here for you today,
Breathing in their loving presence into your body,
Perhaps visualizing that you can rest your head right up against their loving embrace,
And just feel held here,
And know that you are not alone in the holding,
Allowing all parts of your body to relax a little deeper,
From the crown of the head to the face,
Shoulders,
The neck,
Pulling this relaxation down into the arms and to each individual finger,
Allowing the hands to rest open and relaxed,
Allowing the throat and the heart to soften,
Inviting all of the intricate muscles along the back and the spine,
The weaving of nerve endings,
Inviting them too to soften and relax,
Even when there is pain and contraction,
There is too,
A gentle invitation to let go just a little deeper,
Not resisting any pain in the body for just this moment,
For just this moment,
Accepting whatever sensations are here,
Welcoming them,
And gently inviting them to soften,
Allowing the belly to be soft,
And inviting all of the organs and systems internally to relax as well,
To let go,
To surrender,
Allowing the pelvis,
The legs,
Ankles,
Feet and toes to soften,
Noticing any parts of your body that are calling your attention now,
Perhaps with a sensation of discomfort,
Either emotionally or physically,
And bring your loving awareness to this part of the body,
Taking a deep breath right into the center of the discomfort,
And allowing the breath to soften this part of the body,
As if it were a knot,
As if your breath could loosen it with each exhale,
And just notice how much you can soften here,
How deeply you can be with the sensation of discomfort,
And very gently reminding your body that this is just sensation,
And it's safe to feel this,
This is just sensation,
And right now,
It's safe to feel this,
You might even want to say hello and welcome to this sensation,
You might even want to invite it to take up more space,
Letting it know it doesn't have to stay small and contracted and dense,
That it may soften and expand,
It is safe for this sensation to take up more space,
And just noticing how this sensation might shift or change,
And because we know resistance can exacerbate all sensations,
Invitation to say to this part of the body,
I accept you just as you are in this moment,
I accept you just as you are in this moment,
And notice how this sensation might shift or change,
And know that even here,
Even now,
You are healing,
In every moment of every day,
The body is in a detox process,

8 million new cells arrive in your body in every second,
Every second,
You are releasing old cells that no longer serve,
And welcoming in the presence of millions of new cells,
Take a moment to bring awareness to the fact that in this moment,
Your body is healing,
And that your body is always working for you to heal,
Take a deep cooling breath into the body now,
Feeling it wash over all parts,
Exhale,
Release,
Breathing in a cooling cleansing breath through the entire body,
Breathing out,
Release,
Take a moment to feel any subtle shifts or changes,
And then bring your awareness to any part of the body that feels safe and at peace right now,
It can be the smallest part of your body,
It doesn't matter,
Any part that feels safe and at peace right now,
And as you bring your awareness here,
Take a deep breath into the sensation of safety and peace,
Allowing this sensation to take up even more space,
And imagine for a moment,
This sensation of peace and safety at a color,
And as you breathe awareness into this part of your body,
The color gets richer and brighter,
The sensation of peace and safety begins to vibrate and expand,
And you feel the sensation of peace and safety expanding throughout a wider part of your body now,
And you see this color of light taking up even more space,
And now this sensation takes up almost all of your body,
And this color of light expands almost all of your body,
And with each breath,
The light gets brighter and more vibrant,
And with each breath,
The sensation of peace and safety takes up even more space,
And now you can imagine that your entire body is encapsulated in this bubble of light,
And in this sensation of peace and safety,
And the color gets brighter and more vibrant still,
Almost as if the sensation and this color of light had a pulse,
And you know that even here,
Even now,
Your body is healing,
And you know that there's nothing more your body has to do,
You just get to rest in this high-powered healing frequency,
And your body gets to rest,
And your mind gets to rest,
And in that rest,
You heal even deeper layers,
Feeling now a general sense of acceptance,
Starting from the top of the head,
Offering,
I accept you to your body,
Into the throat,
I accept you into the shoulders and the neck,
I accept you into the heart and the chest,
And the chest,
I accept you into the arms and the hands,
I accept you into the spine and the back,
I accept you into the belly,
I accept you into the whole lower body,
The legs,
Down to the toes,
I accept you,
I accept you into the whole body,
I accept you,
Thank you,

Take a deep breath in to seal this practice today,
Filling up your body with all this renewed,
Vital energy,
And then softly exhaling,
What a beautiful gift you have given yourself today,
Take your sweet time to welcome yourself slowly back,
Or to just remain here,
Resting for a while,
Honoring your timing,
And honoring your process.

Comforting and relaxing. Calm voice with lovely music. Visualising of some New Age elements (spirit guide, healing light). I particularly appreciated some insights that arose about how I've been relating to my body during this episode of ill health that allowed me to feel kinder and more accepting towards myself.
