Remembered wellness is a guided meditation that involves focusing on past experiences of being well. This practice is adapted from Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program. By turning your focused attention to the past memory of wellness, you begin to embody that wellness in the here-and-now. By practicing this exercise on a regular basis, you will be more attuned to a felt-sense and physical embodiment of wellness carried throughout your day to day.

Take a deep,

Relaxing breath and focus your attention within.

Go inside.

Let your unconscious mind choose a time in your life,

No matter how brief it was,

When you felt really good.

Even if you had unpleasant things going on at the same time,

Just retrieve the memory of when you felt really well.

Be selective.

Choose only the best.

Remember that time.

Remember how you felt then.

Your muscles are in peak condition.

Your body is in excellent health.

Everything is working exactly as it was designed to work.

Your thoughts are positive and happy.

You experience a profound sense of well-being.

Your mood is content,

Calm,

Blissful,

Peaceful.

Use whatever the words are that best describe that state for you.

Breathe that memory in now.

Let it grow and intensify.

Remember it.

Feel it.

Allow it.

Build an inner wave of joy.

Smile.

Enjoy the memory as it spreads throughout your mind and body.

Notice how for the moment your brain doesn't know the difference between then and now.

Every cell,

Every muscle,

Every neuron,

Every fiber of your brain and body is remembering.

As you remember wellness,

Notice that it starts to spread.

Your body knows how to heal.

We've all fallen down and scraped ourselves or cut ourselves and then healed.

Our bodies know absolutely how to heal.

You're remembering that peak state.

Physically,

Emotionally,

Spiritually,

Intellectually and vibrationally.

Now imagine bringing that feeling from when the memory occurred to right now.

Almost like a copy and paste from then to now.

Let your body feel right now that peak wellness.

Your memory is guiding your brain to function now like it did when you were well.

You might like to imagine a color that represents this incredible wellness.

What color would you choose?

Imagine the color that anchors the feeling.

Imagine that color now.

Notice that there's a certain way you breathe that is all part of that healing process.

Begin to notice every day all the ways your body shows you.

It knows how to heal.

Eating,

Breathing,

Sleeping,

Laughing,

Peeing,

Sweating.

Ask for a word or phrase that represents your peak wellness.

Allow every adjustment that is part of this peak health.

Find a place to be grateful for the way things are.

Be thankful that your body remembers wellness.

When you are ready,

Let yourself come gradually back to the room and slowly all the way out.

Bring your remembered wellness with you.

Know that the remembered wellness starts a process that continues throughout the day,

Night,

Weeks,

Months and on into your future.

As you return to the present moment,

Know that your remembered wellness has been activated and is now operating in the present.
