To get started please find a comfortable position whether seated or lying down just bringing your a sense of presence to where you are to the space you're in and a sense of presence to your breath and body where you're located just noticing the breath notice noticing your body the sensations of the breath and body bring a sense of presence to the breath and the body and why you may ask and I obviously always start with this breath and body awareness which is the most powerful practice that I that I've come across to become present to the breath and body withdrawing our attention from the thinking mind for a moment and returning to a reality that is beyond the mind our thoughts we take our thoughts so seriously sometimes when we bring our attention to the breath and body there is a realm that is discovered by doing that so I'm taking you back to the moment when you had no thoughts no beliefs almost the moment you're born very little cognition was taking place at that moment there was presence there was still a sense of presence to the breath and the body we're going back our ancient roots before we embarked on the journey of thinking and labeling so we're returning to presence pure presence so continue to pay attention to the breath and noticing the sensation of the breath the gentleness and this the sensation of the gentle breath as you naturally breathe without the need to change your breathing just noticing the breath as it is as you normally breathe notice if it's shallow if it's shallow it's shallow just notice the shallowness of the breath and that's fine if it's deep notice the depth of the breath notice the inhalation and the exhalation of your breath and notice the gentleness of the breath notice the gentleness of the breath at any moment if you notice yourself drifting off you notice yourself thinking or about the past about now about tomorrow just very gently return to the breath again you may need to do this again and again and that's totally fine the practice is to very gently bring yourself back to the breath as many times as you can follow the breath into the nostrils into the lungs noticing the rising and falling of the chest and belly the gentleness of the rising and falling of the chest and belly and gently bring your attention into the body now starting with the belly and chest just noticing the rising and falling of the chest and belly as you breathe in and breathe out notice the gentle movement and oscillation of the chest and belly and feel the peace that underlies this movement feel the peace emanating from the depth of your being simply by observing the breath and the rising and falling of the chest and belly you enter your natural state your natural state your natural state which is peace peace now begin to expand your attention from your chest and belly up towards your extremities your arms your legs all the way up to the neck face and head just expanding this awareness expanding this awareness expanding this awareness and noticing yourself sinking deeper and deeper into the present moment and deeper and deeper into peace into peace your natural state your natural state continue to breathe and pay attention to the body from head to toe placing your attention at the top of the scalp noticing any sensations on your scalp on the surface of the skin on the scalp as you scan down the forehead and temples all the way down towards your cheeks and nose your lips,
Chin scanning down the neck scanning down the back of your head scanning down towards the shoulders scanning down inside going into the chest going down inside the belly scanning down all the way your arms all the way towards your wrists and hands and fingers scanning every cell and every atom scanning down scanning down the chest and belly becoming present to every cell and every atom of your body as you scan down towards your hips and thighs all the way down towards your knees scanning every cell every atom noticing any sensations you may experience on the way as you scan down towards your feet and your toes thinking deeper and deeper into the present moment the only moment that exists this present moment all else memories and imagination so for a moment we're letting go of our thoughts our thoughts and our minds that are constantly thinking about past present future judging for a moment we let go and just simply be present present to life present to breath present to the body present to the here and now present sink deeper and deeper into the present moment through simply being aware of the breath and the body recognizing that you have access to this breath and body anywhere you go anywhere you are whoever you are wherever you are whatever condition you're in to simply bring attention to the breath and body brings you back to the only reality that ever is the present moment the present moment the precious moment of the here and now the sacred moment of this moment the sacredness that is only in the present moment sacredness can only be found here and now only here and now because everything else is just memories and imagination memories of the past and imagination of the future but in this present moment you access the sacredness that is within you and the sacredness that is life and in all of life through presence you gain access again to the sacredness of who you are beyond the labels you've accumulated over time beyond your profession and status your age and gender and ethnicity and color all the other labels that you've accumulated beyond all that there is you beyond the labels and beyond the physical characteristics and the life conditions there you are that beautiful soul that underlies the arising and passing of this body and mind there you are the sacredness that you are beyond your physical body and mind beyond labels beyond the physical realm there you are that sacredness that beautiful soul so become aware of the sacredness that you are a sacredness that cannot be put into words beyond description beyond comprehension beyond understanding for it is the infinite within you that is you that infinite light love feel that glowing light at the depths of your being that is nurturing and animating your body and bringing life to every cell and every atom of your body that life that you are beyond labels feel that sacredness feel the sacredness of who you are the I am that you are beyond labels and see how beautiful it is to be that stillness the presence that has no labels but it is infinite no label can contain it for it is from the infinite presence so sit in that and be still be still breathe breathe the breath of life and breathe knowing that you are beyond this body and the breath and the mind but you animate this physical body and you have a conditioned mind that you carry with you but it is not you it is something that you carry with you but it is not you you use the tools the mind is a tool the body is a tool every organ every cell and every atom is here and you have this vehicle that you carry with you the body the mind but now you have gone beyond the labels beyond the physical realm beyond the mental realm and you have entered the realm of the sacred the realm of the sacred that cannot be explained or named but it can be felt through your whole self through the body you can feel the sacredness the gentleness the loving presence that you are the divine presence that permeates every cell and every atom of your body be still and you will know continue to follow the breath and recognize the gentle rising and falling of the chest and belly and as you become present to every cell and every atom recognize the sacredness of every cell and every atom the sacredness that permeates every cell and every atom of your body and notice how gentler your mind is now as you sink deeper into the present moment you may observe the thoughts and emotions arising and passing but you are the observer the presence the conscious presence that you are beyond what you carry with you you are that sacred presence that beauty that it cannot be explained by the mind cannot be put into words for this beauty is of an infinite place it recognizes beauty in life in nature in others the bond you have with those you love the bond you have in nature when you spend some time in nature the bond you have with yourself when you become still and feel your own sacredness feel your own breath and your heart beat and recognize the sacredness that underlies all of life to learn to be still from moment to moment by slowing down by becoming present to your breath and body throughout the day and night and week remember to return to the breath as many times as you can throughout the day and feel your own presence withdraw the energy from the mind and return to the body as many times as you can the mind cannot understand why this would be of any benefit but a part of you can recognize the benefit of returning to the breath and body even though the mind cannot understand it and it will never understand we don't need to attempt to make the mind understand the power of presence to the breath and body it will never understand neither my mind nor yours nor anyone's but simply becoming present to the breath and body your own personal insight and experience tells you the power of that practice the power of practicing the return to present the power of the present moment and the stillness that underlies all of life so allow your breath to be gentle and your body relaxed and still your concept of time will shift as you do this practice the quality of life your gentleness with yourself with others with life all of this beings to expand and your relationship with life itself will begin to shift a relationship that is both sacred and gentle and loving and you're manifesting the sacredness that is beyond you and I and all of us you are becoming a mirror of an infinite light and love that permeates all time and space so polish that mirror by becoming present but the only way to polish that mirror is presence itself the simple present to the breath and the body no new knowledge is required here no new facts nothing to be gained but to simply recognizing who you are beyond the labels in your mind beyond your history beyond all the labels of how you are defined in physical form you become the sacredness of life itself that permeates all creation and so you feel that deep connection with all of life because you are all of life you're not this limited physical realm you are all of life that is why you see the sacredness in others and in nature and in animals and plants because you are that sacredness you are that conscious presence that permeates all time and space so be still so that you may recognize who you are again returning to self with a capital S the higher self the divine presence that permeates all time and space and recognize the deep beauty it cannot be put into words but it can be felt with every cell and every atom of your body so know that you can do this practice anytime anywhere no matter who you are and where you are what life circumstance you have know that you have access to this practice know and practice beyond the knowing return to the breath and the body as many times as you can throughout the day many times as you can throughout the day you wake up in the middle of the night bring your attention back to the breath and body you will go back to sleep when the time is right but return to the breath and body every time now as we come to the end of this meditation bring your attention back to the breath and body feel any sensation feel yourself grounded in the present moment on the chair on the ground when you're ready begin to move small movements in your hands and feet and just returning to the breath and body returning to the body returning to the space you're in honoring what you have acknowledging this tool that you've been given we've been given I've been given all of us have been given for a short period of time in this life this physical form exists and when you become still enough you recognize that this physical being that you are beyond who you truly are is a gift is a gift and only here for a short period of time but you can use it to do good work do good work good deeds in this world you can also bring a lot of compassion and forgiveness to whatever has been done in the past and whatever will be done expand that to all things all people all situations recognize it becomes easy to bring love and forgiveness to all things when you become still because you reconnect with your divine presence the source of all love and forgiveness be still
