Today's consideration.
When God is preparing us to live life to his glory,
He blesses and prospers us.
He gives us everything we needβwisdom,
Grace,
Favor,
Wealthβto be able to ultimately serve his purpose.
But even with all of that,
He gives along the way.
We can lose the opportunity at the last step.
How?
By thinking we can enhance God's direction.
The world teaches us that going above and beyond makes you a better employee,
A better friend,
A better everything.
What the world doesn't tell you is that there are side effectsβarrogance,
Pride,
An inability to be still,
And an inability to stay in your lane so that others can express their gifts alongside yours.
So when God calls us to a task,
We want to go above and beyond.
Be careful.
Don't make the mistake of asserting your limited understanding over God's limitless perspective.
Our everyday logic will have us thinking we're making God's commandment even better by adding to it.
Instead,
We look rebellious and stubborn.
God values obedience over gratuitous behavior.
Our ways are imperfect and flawed.
God's way is the best way.
Lord,
Forgive us for second-guessing you and your clear will.
Let us shun our limited reasoning mind and follow you wholeheartedly and completely.
