The morning alarm rings. How do you wake up? Instead of jumping out of bed in a frenzy, spend a few minutes in quietude, stillness, and calm. Rather than snoozing in bed dreading the day ahead, awaken to the breath and rejuvenate the body. Greet every day of each week with Mindfulness Coach Erin Lee, and allow this simple seven-day practice to evolve into your own personal mindfulness routine. On Sunday, let's practice offering some kindness.

Good morning.

The end of the week brings new beginnings.

Let's take some time today to honor what we have experienced and also offer some kindness to ourselves and others as we transition into a brand new week ahead.

Choose a comfortable and wakeful sitting posture,

Bringing the body to stillness and allowing the eyes to close.

If you prefer to have them open,

You may lower your gaze to the floor in front of you.

Let's begin by tuning into the breath in the body,

Following the movements of the breath all the way in and all the way out,

Allowing the breath to be natural.

As you gently watch the breath entering and leaving the body,

Thoughts may arise.

You may also notice sounds around you.

Your mind might drift away,

And that's okay.

Gently invite your attention back to the breath in the body again.

One breath at a time.

Starting with awareness of the breath,

Moving in and moving out.

As you rest in this stillness,

Bring to mind someone you love or someone who had been supportive over the week.

Having a sense of this person's presence and holding them in your mind.

Gently offering some words of kindness to this person,

Allowing these words to be your own words.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe.

May you be at peace.

Taking a few moments to rest in this experience and notice what arises.

Thoughts,

Emotions,

Sensations in the body.

There's no need to change anything at this moment.

Just allowing this experience to be the way it is.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe.

May you be at peace.

And now when you're ready,

Bringing yourself to mind.

Getting a sense of your own presence in this room,

In this space.

Gently offering some words of kindness to yourself,

Allowing these words to be your own words.

May I be happy.

May I be healthy.

May I be safe.

May I be at peace.

Resting with this experience for a few moments.

Noticing what arises.

If there is any sense of resistance,

Gently breathing with what is present.

Thoughts,

Feelings,

Sensations in the body.

Inviting softness and openness to this practice as you offer these words of kindness to yourself.

May I be happy.

May I be healthy.

May I be safe.

May I be at peace.

And now as this practice comes to an end,

Taking a deep breath in,

Breathing out,

And opening or widening the eyes.

Thank you for practicing with me and have a mindful day ahead.
