The morning alarm rings. How do you wake up? Instead of jumping out of bed in a frenzy, spend a few minutes in quietude, stillness, and calm. Rather than snoozing in bed dreading the day ahead, awaken to the breath, and rejuvenate the body. Greet every day of each week with Mindfulness Coach Erin Lee, and allow this simple seven-day practice to evolve into your own personal mindfulness routine. Practice being thankful for the beautiful things you have in your life.

Good morning.

As we near the end of this week,

Let's practice feeling grateful and inviting joy into the heart.

Finding a seated posture,

Sitting up tall and wakeful,

Relaxing the shoulders and allowing the eyes to close.

If you prefer the eyes to be open,

Lowering your gaze to the floor in front of you.

Taking a few moments to ease the body into stillness.

Getting a sense of the space around the body.

Noticing the parts of the body that are being supported by the floor or the chair.

Being aware of the body in this space,

Breathing in and breathing out.

One breath at a time.

Really know that the body is breathing.

Allowing the breath to be natural.

As you rest in this awareness,

Moment by moment,

Bring to mind a positive experience you had over this week that had offered you feelings of happiness,

Joy,

Contentment,

Gratitude or simply a sense of lightness.

This may arise as a memory or as a felt sense in the body.

If no recollection of such an experience comes to mind,

Knowing that that's okay,

And just acknowledge the time you are taking to simply be here right now,

To practice,

To take care of yourself.

As you rest with the awareness of this positive experience,

Notice what comes up within you.

Thoughts perhaps,

Feelings,

Emotions,

Sensations arising in the body.

Staying with this awareness of all that is present.

Letting go of any need to make a judgement towards this experience.

Just allowing for what is here to be here.

There may be people that come to mind.

Perhaps someone who had played a part in bringing to you this positive experience.

In any way that connects with you in this moment,

Seeing if it's possible to extend words or feelings of gratitude to this person.

You might even wish to include yourself in this simple practice of offering gratitude.

Inviting gentleness to this practice,

One moment at a time.

Noticing any thoughts,

Emotions or body sensations that may have arrived,

Lingered or changed.

Knowing that at any time of this practice,

You can always return your attention to the breath in the body.

As this practice comes to an end,

Notice if there is any tendency to want to hold on to this positive experience.

Resting with this awareness.

Staying with any thoughts or feelings that might be here.

And then when you're ready,

Taking a deep breath in,

Breathing out and allowing the eyes to open or widen.

Thank you for practicing with me and have a mindful day ahead.
