The problem of overeating.

The issue of overeating is very common among those who are attempting weight loss,

And the primary cause of overeating is not paying attention.

Few of us actually take the time to fully experience eating each time we sit down at a meal or have a snack.

Here are some ideas that will help you eliminate the problem of overeating.

First,

Instead of eating alone for comfort or because you don't feel entitled to enjoy eating because you are overweight,

Take the time and opportunity to eat with your partner,

Friends,

Parents,

Children,

Colleagues,

And any other people who are important to you.

Many people find that they don't eat as much if they eat in front of people they know.

One caution,

Don't eat with anyone who will criticize you or whom you are afraid of being intimidated by.

This can lead to overeating in front of the person or overeating later.

When possible,

Eat without distractions.

This will allow you to focus on the eating experience.

So leave the television and radio off and don't even read.

Take your time.

Eat slowly and think about every bite.

Eat foods you look forward to having.

Don't eat something just because you should.

Eat in an attractive environment,

This will make you feel special and the food taste better.

Eat only when sitting.

This eliminates sneaking food and eating becomes a new experience when you take time to do it.

Stay in touch with your feelings while eating.

Pay attention to the point at which you stop tasting the food and start feeling an urgent desire to eat all you can.

If you are no longer enjoying eating and it is becoming compulsive,

Stop eating and get up from the table.

By eating with another whom you enjoy being with,

Without distractions in an attractive environment while sitting,

You will be able to stay in touch with your feelings and be in control of your eating.
