Tinnitus: A Positive Perspective On The Ringing We Hear

This poem was written to express an alternative point of view for those experiencing tinnitus, or ringing in the ears. Given that tinnitus impacts millions of people and is often permanent, it is the author's hope to shed new light on the sounds that accompany us throughout our lives.

For as long as I can remember, I've never heard the sound of silence. The ringing in my ears has persisted throughout all the years of my life. As a child, I thought it was the sound of snowflakes landing, Or of fairy voices calling out. Perhaps I am a tuning fork for high vibrations. Maybe my brain is a conduction space for the universal ohm. Maybe this sound is a lifeline for my spirit, The string to guide me out of the cave and back home to the light.
