At A Distance

When we find ourselves lost and stuck in life, a wake-up call is needed. Honesty about our situation and the responsibility we hold in how our lives have been assembled is the first step towards freedom.

In this poem, Elliott highlights that sometimes we may fall from grace, but if we really want freedom, we have got to face the facts and bridge the gap between our dreams and waking life. Accompanied by drones and waves. No ending bell.

You At a distance Before you get it Before you really get it you have to dream it You have to dream it a thousand times in the darkest nights as if it were real So real you wake up not knowing if it was a dream or not Only then can you see Joy is your own creation of your own dissolution A moment of pleasure here a series of unpleasant situations there Slowly everything turning cold and gray Not even a smile can escape the humdrum existence of the life you desperately keep at bay It's the life you live The one you made trying to find it Now Now Only dreams provide comfort for your reality rendered insanity Your vices have all suffocated and died Fallen by the wayside Still your ship floats Seemingly Endlessly toward a destination of twisted immensity Could all the days and nights spent under the coddle of a nondescript sky amount to a breakthrough a A moment of paradise if All demons are angels in disguise Then the life you are still keeping at a distance is Just fantasy held back by lies Before you get it Before you really get it you have to dream it You have to dream it a thousand times in the darkest nights as if It were real So real you wake up not knowing if it was a dream or not Only then Can you see joy is of your own creation of? How bizarre. Just watched a movie (Bliss) about two addicts who live in a drug induced fantasy where real life is false and beautiful, and fake life is raw and horrible. In reality, the fantasy world they are escaping to is the false one that keeps them from the beauty and miracle that is their true lives. Then I listened to this. Chilling. I think the Universe is dropping some truths on me tonight regarding the narrative I’ve had on life lately.
