Welcome to this guided meditation on the topic of creativity.
Today we'll be practicing a meditation,
A visualization,
And an affirmation exercise to feel into our creative energy and to express it in our lives.
Start by finding your position for this session.
Once you're seated,
Close your eyes and take a deep,
Full breath in.
As you exhale,
Notice your body becoming heavier and bring your awareness to the area of contact with the ground.
You can even imagine that there are roots growing from your body into the ground beneath you,
Giving you a natural sense of stability and tranquility.
You can gently let your upper body move forwards and backwards,
Left and right,
Until you find your posture of equilibrium,
In which you don't need to exert any unnecessary tension to remain in.
Take another deep,
Full breath in,
Extending your belly and opening your chest.
And on your next exhale,
Allow any worries you may have,
Tasks on your to-do list,
Or expectations for this session,
To leave your body.
Bring your attention to the sensation of the air coming in and out of your nostrils.
Feel your breath as it travels through your throat.
Feel the rise and fall of your chest.
Feel the inflation of your upper belly on the inhale and its deflation on the exhale.
Feel your breath moving deeper within you,
Coming in contact with the area of your lower abdomen and pelvis.
You can place your hands on this area to feel deeper into the touch of your breath.
Keeping your attention on this area of your lower abdomen and pelvis,
Visualize something that you would like to see created.
It could be a drawing,
A song,
An exciting vacation.
It could also be a broader aspect in your life,
Such as a harmonious romantic relationship,
A fulfilling domain of work,
Or a new way of relating with the people around you.
Whatever resonates with you.
Whatever rings true.
Imagine how you'll feel once you have taken this idea from your mind and materialized it into your life,
For yourself and for others to benefit.
Let that feeling sink deep within you.
Allow it to circulate throughout your body.
This feeling,
Paired with the vision of what you want,
Is what constitutes your creative drive.
You can bring it back to your mind,
Into your body,
Anytime you want,
To help you overcome the obstacles on your path.
Take a moment to imagine any difficulties you may have to face in order to get to your vision.
Perhaps you'll have to sacrifice one hour each day to focus exclusively on your creative project.
Perhaps you'll have to face the difficulty of not knowing how well this change in your life will be received by others.
And perhaps you'll have to let go of the idea that you'll achieve perfection on your first try.
The bigger your vision is for yourself and for others,
The bigger the sacrifices you'll have to make.
And it's perfectly fine if you don't feel like you're willing to make these sacrifices yet.
Let that be the case.
Let's practice five affirmations to create a lasting connection with this creative energy.
The idea here is not to find arguments for or against what is being said in the affirmations,
But rather to feel how each one of these sentences resonates within our body.
One,
I allow myself to create.
Two,
I create as naturally as I breathe.
Three,
Creating makes me joyful.
Four,
I'm free to create the type of life I want.
Five,
I'm responsible for creating the type of life I want.
Before ending this meditation and opening your eyes,
Take a moment to scan your body and notice how you're feeling.
And allow any part of your body that wants to move to gently move as it pleases.
Feeling your shoulders and neck.
We're giving your back a nice,
Tall stretch.
The key insight from this meditation is that you can use the principles of the creative process to design your own life.
This idea is often referred to as the law of attraction.
I find it very powerful to practice this exercise either at the end of my meditation practice or before going to sleep.
