It is the second in a series of meditations inspired by the heart.

And I'll be guiding you.
If you haven't listened to the first meditation,

As each session builds upon the other,
But it is perfectly okay to proceed with this meditation as well.

Now for our meditation.
Please make yourself completely comfortable.
Feel the weight of your body releasing towards gravity,
Even as the life in your spine lengthens you upward.
Breathe and relax.
As you settle in,
Put your full attention on your breath.
Notice the gentle and beautiful coming and going,
Like the waves of the ocean.
In and out.
Let your own breath rock you into a state of deep calm and relaxation.
Did you know that your heart thinks,
Feels,
And communicates?
The heart has its own little brain,

000 neurons or so,
Tucked into its walls.
And these cells of the heart talk to each other.
They learn.
They adapt.
They even store memory.
And this little network works all on its own,
Without the brain telling it what to do.
If it is comfortable for you,
Please place one or two light fingers on the point of the heart in the center of the chest.
To connect to your heart space and that emanation we experienced in the first of our heart meditations.
Notice what you sense or feel.
Notice that this field that emanates from the heart isn't chaotic and fuzzy.
Rather,
It is organized,
Like music.
It carries emotional information from the heart,
The feeling center of the body,
To the brain.
And the brain listens to this information,
This music.
When your heart is calm and coherent,
The brain knows this.
Likewise,
When the heart is stressed,
Your brain knows that too.
On one level,
Your heart may reveal what is true for you in any one moment.
But on a deeper level,
Your own heart holds the enduring signature of who you really are.
Like a song made of light,
Energy and emotion.
Rest now with an awareness of your beautiful heart and its little brain.
Feel what it feels.
Sense what it thinks.
Allow it to communicate with you in a silent way.
In a sacred way.
I'll give you a few minutes of silent time now to be with your heart,
To allow it to share its unique intelligence with you.
I'll ring a bell at the end of our practice,
But you're always welcome to extend your practice as long as you wish.
