Welcome.
This is your time.
A space to pause,
To breathe,
And to remember that even in the face of stress there is a steady presence within you and that can be trusted.
Now stress can make us feel pulled outside of ourselves into pressure,
Urgency,
Self-doubt,
And this practice invites you to gently return to the ground beneath you,
To the breath within you,
And to the quiet knowing that you are capable.
So allow your body to settle into a comfortable position,
Seated or lying down,
And let yourself be held by the support beneath you.
And with this you might like to close your eyes or lower your gaze so that it softens.
Bearing in mind that at any time,
As is comfortable,
You can open or close your eyes.
So,
Bring your attention to your breath.
Notice the rise and the fall.
Breathing in,
Breathing out,
And as you breathe,
Notice the places in your body where you might be holding tension.
The shoulders,
The jaw,
Or just between the eyebrows,
The belly.
Wherever it is now,
Allow it to soften just a little,
As though giving your body permission to let go of what it no longer needs to carry.
Feel the weight of your body supported by whatever is beneath you,
Noticing the points where it contacts your body.
Feel the ground beneath that.
Feel the gravity holding you.
You don't need to hold everything by yourself.
Each breath out is a gentle release.
Each breath in,
A gentle renewal.
Now,
Bring the mind to a place of feeling.
Bring to mind the feeling of stress.
Not the story of it,
Not the details,
But the sensations,
The way it shows up in your body.
Maybe it feels like tightness,
Restlessness,
Pressure.
See if you can allow it to be here,
Just noticing with curiosity,
Without the need to push it away,
To change it.
Stress is not a sign that you are failing.
It's not even always a sign that something is wrong.
It simply is your body's way of trying to protect you.
It's a natural response,
One we depend on.
One we use.
So,
Instead of resisting it,
Let's bring kindness to it.
Like placing a gentle hand on the shoulder of a worried friend.
And I wonder how that feels now.
What space that opens up to just allow it space.
To meet stress with compassion instead of criticism.
Stress often makes us question ourselves,
Our choices,
Our path.
But beneath stress,
There is a deeper wisdom in you.
A part of you that has carried you this far.
So,
As you breathe now,
Imagine connecting with that part of yourself.
The steady ground of your being.
The quiet knowing that's always there.
Even if sometimes hidden beneath the noise.
And you might like to repeat softly to yourself,
I can trust myself.
I can trust life to meet me.
I can trust the choices I've made and the ones I will make.
Allow those words to land.
To permeate into your subconscious.
Feeling what they mean to you.
Not as pressure to believe them perfectly.
But as seeds planted gently in your mind and body.
Trust doesn't mean knowing everything.
It doesn't mean knowing how everything will unfold.
It means allowing life to unfold one step at a time.
And perhaps you already know that you don't have to have all the answers to keep moving forward.
There is an inner wisdom that exists within you that is always within your reach.
If only we can peel back what gets in its way.
What pulls us away from it.
Trust this inner wisdom.
Remember that you can't reach it by thinking.
You reach it by feeling.
By being.
By being in touch with yourself.
And that doesn't happen in the mind.
Not just in the mind.
So bringing all of this knowledge with you.
The feeling of this inner wisdom too.
You can bring your attention back to your breath.
Breathing in,
Calm.
Breathing out,
Release.
Notice your body.
Perhaps noticing those places where before tension was so obvious.
Notice what allowing space has done for those parts,
Those places.
You can notice too the space around you.
Noticing how it feels to have met yourself here today.
And of course stress may return.
That's part of being human.
But each time it does,
You can remember this.
You are far from powerless.
You can pause.
You can breathe.
You can come back to yourself from all the places you have scattered.
And you can trust.
So taking a final deep breath in to soak all of this in.
And a long breath out,
Letting your body feel safe,
Present and steady.
And as you're ready,
You can gently open your eyes and begin to return to your day.
Carrying with you the reminder.
You can trust yourself.
You can trust life.
And you can meet whatever comes.
One moment at a time.
