This short, guided meditation (without music) is designed to support you to connect to your emotions, whether you are just learning how to feel or are well acquainted with your inner world. Today, I invite you to be curious and kind to yourself and your emotions. Allow my voice and the silences to guide and hold you. Practicing this regularly can support you in building foundational emotional skills and healthy emotional holding. This approach is in line with my practice as a Therapeutic Coach and utilises Eriksonian patterns. I believe that we all have the capacity and resources needed to live a full, healthy, and happy life, and that building a positive relationship to our emotions is a key part of that life.

Welcome.

This is a space to gently explore what's happening inside you right now at your own pace and in your own way.

There's no right or wrong experiences here,

You don't need to force anything.

Understand everything or even feel something specific.

You're simply invited to notice and in that noticing you may begin to reconnect.

So let's begin by finding a comfortable position somewhere where your body feels supported,

Safe and grounded.

Let your eyes gently close if that feels okay or simply soften your gaze.

Now you can bring your attention to your breath.

Just noticing the rise and the fall.

And as you inhale,

You can allow your jaw to soften.

And as you exhale,

You can allow your shoulders to drop just a little more.

You might even give your body a little permission to let go of effort.

Now,

Imagine gently turning towards your inner world with the same kindness you might offer a friend or a loved one.

You don't need to go deep or push into anything.

You can simply begin by asking,

What am I feeling right now?

And if nothing comes straight away,

That's okay.

Sometimes just asking begins a quiet shift.

You might sense a sensation in your body,

A temperature,

A word,

A color,

Or perhaps just the awareness that something is there waiting to be known.

So where in your body do you notice the feeling?

Not to fix it or to change it,

Just to be curious and to be with it,

As if it was sitting beside you.

And if the feeling could speak,

What might it say?

What might it need?

What might it show you about your values?

Let yourself listen without pressure,

Without needing to get it right.

If the emotion feels big,

You can imagine resting it at a safe distance from you.

You can turn down the volume or imagine gently wrapping it in light.

And if it feels small or subtle,

You can simply let it be there,

Perhaps inviting your breath to that place.

Let it be acknowledged,

Included,

Accepted.

Whatever you feel or don't feel is valid.

Sometimes the act of turning towards ourselves is the most meaningful part.

And we can recognize,

Too,

Not just how we feel,

But how we feel about how we feel.

Perhaps you can notice that now.

Is there some annoyance,

Some fear around the feelings that show themselves?

Again,

Whatever you feel or don't feel is valid.

And sometimes the act of turning towards ourselves is the most meaningful part.

Because every time you check in,

You strengthen your capacity to hold yourself.

You prove to yourself that you can show up for yourself,

For all of you.

And this is emotional connection.

Not understanding everything perfectly,

But being with yourself with compassion,

Acceptance in whatever is here.

So now you can begin to bring your attention back to your breath,

Noticing your inhale and your exhale,

And allow yourself to feel the support beneath you,

Knowing that you can return to this place anytime.

So take a moment to thank yourself for showing up,

For being curious,

For practicing presence even when it's hard.

And when you're ready,

You can gently open your eyes and return to your day,

Carrying with you even a small thread of connection.

I paused the meditation after you encouraged me to be with the emotion. I found the instructions easy to follow. It’s helpful that the meditation is shorter because it lets a person dip and sample what’s happening internally without getting sucked into the emotion. Thanks! 🙏
