Namaste.

Welcome to this meditation session with me,

Dhyansay,

Your path to inner peace,

Wisdom and awareness.

We are meditating on Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

If you take a thousand seeds and put them in the ground,

Not all sprout.

The few that sprout,

That become plants,

Not all bear flowers.

Those who bear flowers,

Not all smell pleasant,

Not all smell the same.

Those who bear flowers,

Not all bear fruits,

And those fruits don't taste the same.

Some have the sweetness like anything and some are just there but have not the same quality.

What is there to learn in this?

What is there to contemplate in it?

In nature,

All these species,

From plants to animals,

They have their energies defined.

Those plants that are bearing the fruits that are sweet,

They will always bear fruits that are sweet.

Those plants that are not bearing any fruits,

You cannot make them bear any fruits.

And you cannot transform one plant into the other.

The apple tree will remain an apple tree,

Will remain an apple tree.

A rose flower will remain a rose flower,

Will remain a rose flower.

In nature,

These energies in plants,

In animals,

It's fixed,

It's defined.

If the plant is supposed to bear beautiful flowers,

It will always have beautiful flowers.

If the plant is supposed to have sweet apples or sweet mangoes or sweet fruits,

Any kind of fruits,

It will have the same sweetness.

It will have the same fruit all the time.

But it is different for human beings.

And that's the reason why we are contemplating on it to understand what makes us human.

What is this special quality in us that is different from plants,

That is different from animals in nature?

We are also nature,

We are a part of nature,

But we are different from animals and plants because our energies are not fixed.

Our energies can be transformed.

A plant cannot be transformed,

An animal cannot be transformed.

But a human being has the potential to be transformed.

What is that transformation?

Let us go through this session,

Let us go through this sutra from Patanjali which we will contemplate on,

Which we will unfold for us and sit in meditative silence afterwards to meditate upon the sutra.

Patanjali says,

Jati antara parinama prakrti apurat,

The transformation of one species into another is brought about by the inflow of nature or the overflow of nature.

Here Patanjali is talking about not the species of animals,

Of plants,

He is talking about human beings.

He is saying,

In order to transform the human being,

A sinner,

Into a saint,

Somebody who has been a criminal into somebody who becomes a good human being.

This transformation of the human,

This species is brought about by the overflow of nature.

What does this mean?

How to understand this overflow of nature?

How can we transform ourselves out of our own miseries,

Out of our own demons and become a better person?

The clue lies in understanding ourselves as energies.

In particular,

A framework of the seven chakras help in understanding how we are constructed as a set of energies,

How we can transform these energies.

This is not a belief system,

This is just a way,

A framework to understand how our energies are constructed and work with it.

So let us very briefly take a look into what these seven energy centers that we have,

The seven chakras that we have,

And how do we transform our life,

How do we transform our nature from being in pain,

Being in misery,

Being in selfishness,

In ego,

To being in bliss,

To being in silence,

To being in love,

To being in compassion.

How do we transform this is all hidden in this understanding of the framework of seven chakras.

In yoga,

These seven chakras are described as follows.

The first chakra is the Mooladhara at the very base of your body,

At the very base of your spine below your genitals.

This area,

This Mooladhara,

What that means is this provides stability to you.

This is the first foundational energy that you have.

In English,

You can call that root chakra,

That you have the roots in the earth,

That you have the roots for stability.

So this is the first thing that a human being is looking for.

All the life energies that a human being has goes firstly into this stability,

Into this Mooladhara,

Trying to acquire this existence,

Trying to be and be stable,

Trying to have the foundation.

So once all this energy is there in the Mooladhara and the stability is established and your existence is not threatened,

Then your energy rises to the second chakra,

The Swadhisthana chakra.

This is the chakra two inches below your navel.

Swadhisthana,

What that means in Sanskrit is from where the taste of life starts to arrive.

This is the chakra which is responsible for the sex,

For the pleasures of life,

For the taste in the food,

For whatever you are enjoying in life,

For the taste in life.

So the life energies which were first of all going in the survival in the Mooladhara are now transformed as sex energies.

The same energy in Mooladhara is survival in your Swadhisthana is the sex energy.

This energy that allows you to have taste in life,

This energy which opens up all forms of pleasure in life.

Then the energy rises further up to Manipura.

This in English you can call as solar plexus,

Few inches above the navel.

This Manipura is where you have security,

Where you have confidence,

Where you start possessing things.

When this energy becomes active in you,

You start to hold,

You start to hold,

You start to possess.

You are hunting for security,

You are striving for security.

And this energy becomes the energy of possession.

This madness about possessing,

Going out,

This ego that goes out and tries to possess,

Tries to conquer,

Tries to have more power is all empowered by this Manipura chakra.

We are living in these three chakras mostly.

The energy is flowing in a combination of mostly these three chakras at all times which result in the kind of experience that we have right now.

As you can experience,

Most of the time is of fear,

Of anxiety,

Of looking for security,

Looking for stability,

Looking for pleasure and so on.

And then there are moments when the energy rises further up to Anahata chakra,

The heart chakra.

This is the point of transformation.

This is where the energy starts overflowing.

As Patanjali says,

When the energy starts overflowing,

The transformation happens.

When the energy starts reaching to the heart,

You express this as love energy,

As compassion.

And you naturally are in an outflow of love.

You naturally are in compassion.

And you have these moments when you are with your loved ones,

When you are with your family,

When you look at your kids or your parents or your siblings or your loved ones.

This energy of love flows out of you.

But most of the times,

You are only in the first three chakras,

In the lower chakras.

As the energy rises,

In few moments,

You feel the love and this all your life energy becomes love energy.

Which wants to share this love and compassion with everybody else.

If the energy rises further above the heart,

You reach to your Vishuddhi chakra,

The throat chakra.

What that means is,

And what that does is,

The energy is transformed from the life energy to the heart energy to the creative energy.

This is where you start expressing yourself out in the most creative ways.

You become artists,

You become painters,

You become musicians and so on.

And this is there in all of us.

But you don't have all the time energy in your Vishuddhi chakra,

In your throat chakra,

Which is allowing you to be creative all the time.

And when the energy rises further up to your third eye center,

To your Agnya chakra,

This energy becomes spiritual energy.

The energy of the knowledge where you start receiving knowledge,

Where you start understanding the wisdom of spirituality opens up for you.

And when you come across all these spiritual traditions,

You start to understand what they mean,

How they are saying one and the same thing across all traditions.

So the entire knowledge opens up for you,

The spirituality opens up for you and you are further in transformation.

Your life until when the energy is flowing below your heart chakra is always caught up in misery,

In pain,

In ego,

In trying to secure.

When the energy rises up to the heart,

It is expressing outwards its love,

It reaches the throat,

The Vishuddhi,

It's expressing its creativity and when it reaches to the Agnya chakra third eye center,

It becomes spiritual.

And then the last,

The highest vibration,

The Sahasrara,

The crown chakra,

As the energy then overflows in you beyond the third eye center,

It overflows into the absolute,

Into the emptiness,

This absolute,

This emptiness has the highest vibration.

This is known as the crown chakra,

The Sahasrara.

So the reason why we are trying to understand our energies in a seven chakra framework is to see that we are a combination of our energies flowing in these different centers.

And the way to transform our life is to transform the flow of these energies,

Is to let the energy rise up higher and higher in you.

The more you are living out of your heart,

The energy flowing out of your heart center,

The more is the satisfaction in life,

The more is the sharing,

The love,

The joy in life.

The more the energy further rises up and flows through your creative centers,

Your creative energy,

The more you feel expressed,

The more you feel a part of this world,

The more you feel that you have a certain purpose,

The purpose to express your uniqueness through your creativity.

And thereafter to connect with everyone as one spiritual energy and moving into emptiness,

Into oneness.

A lot can be said about these chakras,

A lot more details can be developed,

Can be understood,

Can be worked with,

But for now,

For this session,

Let us take this understanding into our own meditative silence and just observe our energies.

Feel these energies,

Feel what is going on in our body,

In our mind,

If we put this observation on the framework of seven chakras.

What that means is,

We will chronologically go one by one from the root chakra to the crown chakra,

One by one from the bottom of your body to the top of your head,

And all you have to do is observe.

Observe how you feel,

Observe sensations,

Observe the thoughts that arise as you move from one chakra to the other,

How the feelings change,

How the sensations change,

How the thoughts change,

And see that you have the capacity to transform yourself.

And as you observe in that observation,

In that awareness,

Your energies also naturally rise upwards.

Please close your eyes and take a posture that is comfortable for you.

With your back,

Neck,

And head aligned and straight,

Body relaxed,

Your breath flowing in and out naturally.

Face relaxed.

Allowing your awareness to turn inwards,

To settle,

Your mind to calm down,

Your body to rest.

Allowing your awareness to turn inwards,

To settle,

Your mind to rest.

Shift your awareness to the bottom of your spine,

To the area below your gentles.

Feel the contact with the floor,

Or the mat,

Or the cushion,

The contact of your body with the floor or the cushion.

And become aware of your Mooladhara chakra,

The root chakra.

As your awareness,

Attention,

Focuses on Mooladhara chakra,

Let any sensation,

Any thought that arise in you,

Let it arise,

Let it fade away,

Without trying to stop anything.

Keeping your awareness on Mooladhara,

The root chakra.

Noticing a sense of stability.

And rising to the second chakra,

The sacral chakra,

Svadhisthana chakra,

Few inches below your navel.

The area below your navel.

Awareness on the area below your navel.

Feel sensations,

Vibrations,

Any feelings that arise as you focus your awareness on Svadhisthana chakra.

The Mooladhara chakra.

Let your awareness rise further up,

To few inches above the navel.

The Manipura chakra,

The solar plexus.

Notice how your awareness is experienceable,

Your awareness is smell.

Notice the thoughts,

Feelings,

The images,

The sensations that arise in your consciousness as you focus on solar plexus,

On Manipura chakra.

Awareness in the region above your navel.

And awareness rising up to your heart.

Awareness focusing on the heart region in the middle of your chest to Anahata chakra.

Allowing your awareness to settle in the middle of your chest at the heart center,

Anahata chakra.

And notice a sense of peace,

A sense of calm,

A sense of love that arises in you.

With every breath,

This feeling,

This sensation of heart chakra increasing.

And your awareness on the heart center.

Energy rising further up.

Awareness on Vishuddhi,

On your throat center.

Shift your focus on your throat region.

And notice the thoughts,

Feelings,

The sensations that arise in your heart.

All your attention at your throat center.

Feeling the sensations.

Awareness rising further up to your third eye center,

Agnya chakra.

The region in between your eyebrows.

Shift your awareness,

Your focus in between your eyebrows.

Feel the sensations in the middle of your forehead.

Allow these sensations,

These pulsations,

This energy in the middle of your eyebrows.

Your awareness to grow.

Not trying to force anything,

Simply observing and allowing the energies to rise and unfold.

And energy rising all the way to the top of your head.

Few inches above your head.

The Sahasrara,

The crown chakra.

Imagine,

Visualize this energy flowing upwards from the top of your head,

Outwards into the universe,

Into the cosmos.

Your awareness goes toward minus one,

Plus two,

Minus three,

And then Lets go towards the shoulders consultation.

And let go of all effort,

All visualizations,

All sensations,

And simply stay in silent awareness.

And very gently and slowly,

You may open your eyes.

Maintaining this silence,

This awareness,

In a sense,

An awareness of your own energies,

In your body,

In your mind,

And learning to see how these energies drive you,

Your moods,

Your behaviors,

Your thoughts,

Your actions in your daily life.

Thank you very much.

Namaste.
