#35. Meditation Is A Rebellion | Vigyan Bhairav Tantra
Meditation is a rebellion in consciousness. Everything has been controlling the consciousness will try to stop that rebellion. Your Mind, the greatest controller of all, which works by controlling and by being controlled cannot like meditation. It will reject it as soon as consciousness tries to break free from the grip of mind. Namaste Sanyasa family and everyone else.
A very warm welcome to all of you in this daily live meditation session with me the answer.
We are meditating on 112 meditation techniques of Vigyan Bhairav Tantra.
Meditation is a rebellion in your consciousness.
You come to meditation for settlement and somehow it creates a disruption in your consciousness,
A unsettlement in your consciousness.
You were asleep for so long you were in your sweet dreams or nightmares but you were in your dreams and suddenly something comes and wakes you up.
That disturbance,
That waking up,
That gesture of unsettlement,
Of rebellion,
Of disruption is what meditation.
It does not put you back into sleep.
It does not give you more dreams.
It does not give you more stories.
Rather it shakes up your consciousness.
It awakens your consciousness.
It is a rebellion.
A rebellion against all the dreams.
A rebellion against all the control that your mind is imposing on you.
See that the nature of mind is control.
It likes to control and it also likes to be controlled.
Mind is the center of control in us.
It functions with control and anything that takes that control away from the mind is an enemy of the mind.
And in that sense meditation is an enemy of the mind.
It is not a training,
Not an exercise of the mind but it puts the mind in its right place.
Where mind loses its control and mind does not like that.
Mind functions in a way where it likes to control.
Everything it can control.
It can control the body.
It can control all your energies.
Everything about you it wants to control.
And it wants to be controlled because it cannot be independent.
It appears to be independent.
It gives you the sense that mind is above all.
It is an independent phenomena but it is also controlled.
It is controlled from outside.
It gives projections of control.
It says I am being controlled by God or by somebody else.
It gives another projection of control from somewhere outside to control the mind and that control is then further delegated to you.
So mind thinks in this control,
In this hierarchy and you can see the manifestation of that in all aspects of life.
Take any aspect of life,
Political,
Take it business,
In corporations,
Anywhere there is a hierarchy.
There is a hierarchy of mind.
There is a hierarchy of control.
And the entire society,
The entire humanity is run in this control of the mind,
The hierarchy of the mind.
And meditation is a rebellion against this control.
Any control that tries to take over consciousness.
Because the only independent phenomena in you is consciousness.
Consciousness is what is always expanding.
Mind is what wants to contract,
To suppress the consciousness.
Your energies are always wanting to be liberated in freedom,
Move in freedom but the mind wants to contract.
Mind wants to control your energies.
So this control over your consciousness,
Over your energies,
This must break.
And meditation is that process that takes this control away from the mind.
And when that happens,
You may feel that meditation is doing something to you,
It is taking over you or it is something that is not now working for you.
Because as long as meditation was about putting some sleep to you,
Giving you some lullabies,
Some stories,
The mind liked it very much.
But the moment it starts touching you,
It starts liberating your energies,
It starts rising and expanding your consciousness.
All signals in you will go off,
All alarms of your mind will go off and would want to stop that process,
Would want to not go through that process.
These discourses,
These sessions are meant to keep you on this process.
Even if your mind is rejecting,
Even if your mind is going against,
You go through this process of expanding your consciousness,
Of liberating your energies by coming in contact with the vibration of tantra that is a rebellion in your consciousness.
Along this process,
Several questions may arise,
Several rejections may arise,
It is fair,
But see that this is the mind,
This is not you,
This is not your consciousness that is in rebellion.
Let me share one comment,
One question from one of the meditators in our community which is very much related to this phenomena of control and meditation taking you out of this control putting you into spontaneity once again and how the mind is responding.
The meditator says,
This was the first time during one of Dhyanse's meditations that I couldn't stick at it until the very end.
My rebel mind was in full rejection mode.
Every time Dhyanse said,
Stop.
It screamed back,
No,
I will not.
And unfortunately,
It got louder and louder.
It was quite odd because I have never had quite as much monkey mind in any other meditation practice.
Sometimes my mind rejects what I know deep down is a good advice because it feels like I am being ordered about or controlled.
Could this be the reason why this happened?
Should I try this meditation again?
Or am I not ready for it and I should let it go?
It's very clear from the question,
What is the state of the mind?
You see,
You say,
My rebel mind,
Mind is not a rebel.
Mind is always an obedient subordinate.
It is always under the control of something and wanting to have control.
So what you're calling as rebel of the mind is not the rebel of the mind is your mind not wanting to have this control.
When this control is taken away from your mind,
From the grip of your mind,
It is that.
But remember,
The rebellion in you is in your consciousness.
When this energy of your consciousness rises,
That creates all this turmoil.
So yes,
This meditation is the meditation for you,
Because so far,
Everything was probably in agreement of your mind.
Your mind was like a bouncer in the club of your inner space.
It allowed everything in agreement.
It saw what was being said is resonant to the mind,
Is acceptable to the mind,
You allowed it in your inner space.
And when it was not,
You rejected it.
So take this meditation as exactly that process which you need,
Where your mind will try as much as it can.
It will throw tantrums,
It will say,
As you're saying,
Quite odd because I never had quite much monkey mind in any other meditation practice.
If your mind is becoming even more crazier,
Even more of a monkey,
Let that happen.
Let that tantrum of the mind happen.
It will come to its own place.
It will find its own place.
If you do not serve it,
If you do not just go and say,
Okay,
We will do whatever you want.
If you do not treat it as a child,
Then mind will find its place.
Don't fight with it.
Don't reject it.
Let it be.
You remain with the practice.
You remain within this process of expansion of consciousness,
Of liberation of energies.
And what is happening in these sessions is we're learning techniques.
We're learning techniques also as a guided process.
So while I'm guiding you in the technique,
I'm not only guiding you into meditation,
I'm guiding you into how to do this technique on your own.
So if it helps to do this practice on your own,
If it is more effective,
Then learn it in the session,
How to do it.
Give yourself this much openness,
This much receptivity that for 10 minutes,
15 minutes,
You listen,
You're receptive of how the process is taking you out of the grip of the mind,
Your consciousness,
How it is taken out of the mind and going in an expansion.
Take that learning through the meditation and apply it afterwards.
Do this yourself.
These guidances,
These meditations are not to make you always repeat this meditation through my guidance.
These guidances are for you to teach,
Are for you to learn and then you're on your own.
You have to always be on your own.
Never lean on anything.
Never lean on any of the guided meditations,
Nor mine,
Nor anybody's.
No guidance.
You learn and then you do it yourself.
If it serves you well,
If it doesn't serve you,
Move on.
You say,
Sometimes my mind rejects what I know deep down is a good advice because it feels like I'm being ordered about or controlled.
Your mind is always ordered and controlled.
See that the whole world is designed in a way that your mind,
Which is the center of control,
Which is the center of order,
Is taking orders and control from the world and trying to replicate,
Delegate the same to you.
And therefore,
There is this suffocation that we all go through as we live more and more of this neurosis,
Of this mind,
Of this collective mind trying to increase the control,
Trying to push everything more towards control.
Let us move to the meditation technique for today.
Bhairava in Vigyan Bhairava Tantra says,
And this technique is to take your energies out of this control of the mind,
So it is very much relating to this situation if you are facing the same.
Bhairava says,
If Prana Shakti is made from gross to subtle and enters the heart,
Then one attains mastery over one's dreams.
Let me repeat.
If Prana Shakti is made from gross to subtle and enters the heart,
Then one attains mastery over one's dreams.
Few things to understand.
First Prana Shakti.
Prana Shakti,
Those who have been following these sessions,
They understand it is the energy of the breath,
Energy of the prana,
That is Prana Shakti,
Which you can simply understand as when you inhale the energy that flows into you and as you exhale the energy that flows outwards.
Then the second component of it attains mastery over dreams.
By doing this technique,
You attain mastery over dreams.
What this means is you come out of this authority,
This control over the dreams.
Dreams are nothing but what keeps you in going somewhere where you are not awake,
You are not in independence,
You are flowing along with the dream in some sleep somewhere.
So by mastering over the dream,
You have the mastery not of the dream in your sleep,
But the dream that you are living in your waking state in your daily life.
So what is the technique?
The technique is very simple.
When Prana Shakti is made from gross to subtle and enter the heart.
When you breathe,
Your breathing process,
It is gross.
There is this physical,
Mechanical aspect of it.
So while you are becoming aware of your breath,
You move from this gross to the subtle,
From this mechanical aspect of the breath to the energy of the breath,
To the flow which is chaotic,
To the flow which is rhythmic,
To the noise that you make along with your breath to a very silent breath,
To bring the breath from gross to subtle.
It is kind of a pranayama.
If this technique was in yoga,
It would have been classified as a pranayama,
But it is a technique from tantra where you bring your awareness to your breath and slowly,
Very gradually,
Very smoothly bring it from gross to subtle.
No forcing it,
No trying to control it,
No trying to change it with force or with some disruption.
Very smoothly you will bring your breath from gross to subtle.
And when the breath is very subtle,
Is very light,
Then you absorb that energy in that moment in your heart.
I will guide you through this process.
Please close your eyes and take a posture that is comfortable for you.
With your body at rest,
Head,
Neck and back aligned,
Your shoulders down,
Your legs at rest,
Shifting your awareness to your breath.
Begin by becoming aware of the gross of your breath,
The movement of your breath.
The sound of your breath.
The physical sensations of your breath.
How it flows from your nose,
Flowing down in your lungs,
All the way down and back.
Become aware of this gross physical of the breath.
Thank you very much.

So profound. My heart was burning like the sun and I was dissolving as a child of the universe- beyond myself. As I opened my eyes the sun was rising, welcoming me into the world. I felt my belonging.
