We will learn how to use meditation to help combat negativity in our lives. Negativity can come from anywhere - the workplace; our loved ones; or even strangers - but how do we deal with this negativity? Most of us don’t really know how to deal with negativity - either we suffer it, take it personally - or, we pass it on to someone else, which can easily transpire into a vicious cycle. Here is how we can transform the negativity that we receive.

Hi,

This is Dhyansey and you're listening to Dhyansey Meditation Podcast.

In this meditation session,

I talk about how to deal with negativity and work on the Manipura Chakra,

The solar plexus,

Through meditation.

This meditation session was given in Basel,

Switzerland on 29th of October 2018.

25 idiots sitting in front of me right now.

You heard it right.

Each one of you.

25 idiots are sitting in front of me right now.

I am not joking.

Now close your eyes and just feel.

Become aware of how you feel right now.

What I just said,

How does it make you feel?

Just close your eyes.

Give yourself a moment to feel.

How does it make you feel?

Open your eyes.

This is the world we live in where negativity can come from anywhere.

It can come from places where we have to deal with people like our colleagues,

Our bosses,

Or even our loved ones,

Our family members,

Parents,

Siblings,

Children,

Or even strangers.

You are somewhere outside and you don't know from where the negativity is coming in.

But the question is,

How do you deal with this negativity?

Take a moment to close your eyes once again for me please,

And forgive me for what I said to you.

Tune into forgiveness and give this moment of forgiveness to me for everything that I told you.

Open your eyes.

A very warm welcome to all of you in this meditation session with me,

Dhyan Se.

As you can guess,

What we are going to do today is to learn how meditation can come into play when we face negativity in our life.

It does not matter from where it comes.

And what we just experienced in the last couple of minutes,

My intention was just to demonstrate to you right now that one,

It's so easy to get touched by negativity.

It's very easy.

And secondly,

We don't really know how to deal with it.

We don't learn this in school,

How to deal with it.

Either we suffer it if someone is giving us negativity,

We suffer it.

We take it personal,

We take it on us,

On our body,

On our mind.

Or we pass it on,

Like the boss shouting on the employee,

The employee giving that negativity,

Going home to his wife or husband,

The husband or the wife giving to children,

Children giving it to another children,

Other children giving it to their parents,

And that mother going to the school and giving it to the teacher,

And the teacher giving it to another person,

And then comes back to the wife of the boss,

And then wife to the boss again.

And this circle continues of negativity.

If we don't break it,

If we don't know how to deal with it,

This is something that keeps on going in all our lives.

We just pass on the negativity that we receive from others,

And we give it to others,

Even to our loved ones.

This is where meditation comes in.

How do we transform the negativity that we receive from others?

How do we transform that?

How do we convert this into something that is positive,

Or at the most,

Or at the least,

Not hurting anybody?

This transformation is a part of meditation.

Let me tell you about George Ivanovich Gurjeev.

I don't know how many of you know this name,

G.

I.

Gurjeev.

He was a mystic from Armenia from early 20th century.

His father died when he was only 9 years old,

And at the deathbed,

His father told him,

Look son,

I have no riches to give you,

But there is something that I got in tradition from my father when he died,

And let me give it to you right now.

And the thing is,

Remember,

When someone creates negativity in you,

When someone insults you,

Creates anger in you,

Just wait 24 hours.

Don't say anything,

Wait 24 hours,

And after those 24 hours,

Whatever you feel like,

Go ahead and do it.

Of course,

These 24 hours are enough to regain consciousness about the fact of what had happened.

And this small formula changed the life of Gurjeev,

And he became a very,

Very famous mystic who transformed lives of so many people.

Two insights that come from Gurjeev's teachings that I understood in the context of negativity is,

First,

Negativity is nothing but a derivative of unconsciousness.

It is coming out of unconsciousness,

Both the person who is creating that negativity,

Or let's say giving that negativity,

And the person who is receiving that negativity,

Both are unconscious.

Of course,

We live in a society where we punish the criminal and not the crime,

But in this context,

In this view,

The criminal has no fault.

It's his unconsciousness in that moment about the act that is making that act happen.

So this negativity is arising out of unconsciousness.

It propagates in unconsciousness from one person to another person.

And the only way to break this,

The only way to not get affected by it,

Is by being more conscious,

By being more there in that moment in your center,

More conscious.

How do you do that?

Meditation.

Second thing,

If you ever get affected by it,

If the poison of negativity still touches you,

If you still take it in,

What is the antidote?

How do you come out of it?

Forgiveness.

My friends,

Forgiveness is the antidote to negativity.

It's not a concept of psychology.

It's not something that is just a mental construct.

It's an aspect of your consciousness.

The more forgiving you are,

The more your consciousness can be tuned into forgiveness.

You can not only forgive yourself,

But forgive everybody else and all the negativity that is there touching you and also not touching you.

How to do this as a meditation?

A very simple practice.

We'll do it into three parts.

Part one,

Where we'll become more aware of our feelings,

How we are feeling in this moment right now,

In our body,

In our mind,

In our feelings,

In our inner space,

How are we feeling right now.

That would be the part one.

Part two of this would be to bring all your awareness to the solar plexus,

Which is in Sanskrit called as the Manipura Chakra.

It's above your navel and just below your ribcage.

This is the energy center where when you absorb negativity,

When somebody insults you,

When somebody creates anger in you,

This is where you feel it.

This is where you feel hurt.

It breaks you down,

It breaks your confidence,

It breaks you as a person in life.

And so many negative people are out there who are ready to do that.

My effort today is to give you this technique so that when you meditate,

When you bring your awareness to this Manipura Chakra,

Which is the solar plexus,

The center above your navel,

You bring your attention here,

And you'll imagine that there is a source of light here.

It's a pure visualization.

There is no reality to it,

But the visualization is powerful.

It's healing.

It's something that works if you do it sincerely.

So visualize that there is a light that is arising out of your Manipura Chakra,

The solar plexus from this center,

And it starts to flow in your legs first in the lower part of your body,

Filling your entire body with this peaceful,

Pleasant,

White light,

And then it goes up and fills your entire body,

Your arms,

Your back,

Your head,

Your face.

Everything fills your entire body with this white light arising out of your Manipura Chakra.

Let that feeling settle,

Let that imagination settle,

Let yourself glow in that light,

Let yourself feel the peace,

The taste of it.

Once you have done that enough,

And I'll guide you through each of these steps,

Then you'll just sit in silence,

In awareness for another 10 to 15 minutes.

Very simple three steps,

Becoming aware of yourself,

Working on your Manipura Chakra,

On your solar plexus,

And sitting in silence,

Sitting in awareness.

Before we start the meditation,

My request to you is if anybody has still their mobile phones on,

Please switch it off.

Last couple of times there have been some disturbances.

It just creates,

It breaks the energy of the group and spoils the hour that we have all put in together here as a group.

Those who are new,

If you feel that you cannot sit cross-legged,

If it's difficult for you to sit cross-legged comfortably,

Please take seat next to the wall.

Sit comfortably that you can spend the next 20-25 minutes in silence,

Concentrating in your inner space,

Going inside of yourself,

And not getting distracted by the body,

Not getting distracted by things around.

So find a peaceful place,

Peaceful posture for yourself,

And if possible,

Don't let your head touch the wall.

That's the only condition I have.

Don't let the head touch your wall.

Please close your eyes.

Sit with your back straight,

Shoulders down,

Hands either in your lap or on your thighs.

Breathe in from the nose and exhale from the nose.

Another deep breath in from the nose and exhale from the nose.

For the next minutes,

Keep on breathing as naturally,

Normally as you always do.

And bring your awareness to your body and feel what kind of sensations are there in your body right now.

Allow your body to settle.

Allow your breath to settle in this moment.

While you simply become aware of the fact that you're sitting here,

Your body is at rest,

And you're observing,

Feeling the inner sensations of the body.

Keep on breathing in and out,

And simply draw your awareness to all the sensations in your body.

Are you feeling hot or cold?

Are you feeling at ease or restless?

Simply observe and feel your body in this moment.

Draw all your awareness from everywhere towards your body and just observe your body.

Observe every little sensation,

The subtle movements.

Draw all your attention inwards.

As your body settles,

Take your awareness to the solar plexus center.

The space above your navel,

Below your diaphragm.

Bring your awareness to this region above your navel,

Below your diaphragm.

Imagine there is a white light source there.

Out of your solar plexus,

White light is coming out,

Which is pleasant,

Which is radiating all over.

Bring all your awareness to this visualization that your solar plexus is releasing white light,

Which is radiating all around in your body.

Keep your attention on this visualization and allow the white light to spread down towards your legs.

The white light is flowing all over in your legs,

From thighs to knees to calves to the toes.

This light is radiating and filling your back with white,

Pleasant light.

Your stomach is completely filled with this white light and it spreads upwards.

Your lungs are filled with the white light.

Breathe in and out,

This white light flowing through your lungs.

It's reaching your throat,

Your shoulders,

Your hands,

Your neck,

Your head,

Your entire face.

Your whole body is radiating white light.

You are filled with white light arising out of your solar plexus and you are glowing in this white light.

Your body is filled with light.

Let this radiate outwards and spread out in the entire world.

In this moment,

Forgive yourself.

In this moment,

Forgive yourself.

In this moment,

Forgive others.

Let your entire being radiate forgiveness.

Feel the silence arising out of this moment.

Now for the next minutes,

Simply remain silent and aware.

Let everything go for a moment and you remain silent.

Remain absolutely silent.

Let go of everything in this moment.

No more movement.

Stay here.

Stay here.

Stay here.

Stay here.

Let everything be the way it is.

You remain silent,

Unmoving,

Aware.

Stay here.

Stay here.

Simply remain aware and silent.

Stay here.

Stay here.

Allow yourself to settle in this silence.

Stay in it.

Now become aware of your breath.

Going in and out gently,

Slowly.

Your body is at rest.

Your mind is at rest.

In this silent,

Peaceful state,

Very gently and slowly you may open your eyes.

Now let everything go for a moment and you remain silent.

Stay here.

Stay here.

In the last moments of this session,

We share if there is anything to share,

If there are any questions,

Any doubts,

Any experiences during the meditation that you are worth sharing,

Worth clarifying.

And if someone of you is still angry at me,

Please forgive me.

Yes.

It is difficult.

Yes.

Yes,

It is difficult.

That's why we do it here.

It's because if you have got somebody who keeps hurting you all your life,

Like your mother,

Your own mother,

To develop this sense of forgiveness,

It's one of the most difficult things.

Yes.

It's one of your nearest and dearest.

Yes.

Thanks for sharing that.

I don't have to say anything to that.

I better not.

Anything else?

Those who are here for the first time,

Just want to let you know that we don't always curse when we start the meditation,

So we do other things as well.

Yes,

At the back,

You wanted to ask something?

Yes.

There is something else I'd like to share.

I do that on behalf of a lot of meditators here.

Thank you for sending us the meditation.

Thank you.

Incredible.

I've already got to start.

Thank you very much.

I would like to end the session by a couple of words that I am reminded of,

Where there was one old couple laying in bed,

And the husband asking the wife,

He's saying,

Honey,

I have such a temper,

I have given you so much moments of anger,

I've yelled at you,

I've done so many negative things to you,

I'm sorry for that,

But how do you deal with that?

And she said,

I deal with it.

Whenever you do that,

I go and I clean the toilet.

And the husband was a bit.

.

.

He couldn't take the response,

He was like,

What do you mean you clean the toilet?

How does that help?

I just use your toothbrush for cleaning the toilet and that's absolutely fine for me then.

That's how we propagate negativity if there is some.

I just hope that through this session,

Some of you,

Hopefully all of you,

Would take something back for your life,

For all the negativities that we all have to face in our lives,

And some silence of meditation,

Some peace which you can bring through these sessions,

Which we do every Monday from 7 to 8 pm.

There's nothing else to talk.

I wish you a very lovely evening.

Thanks a lot for participating and also once again,

Please forgive me for saying what I said in the beginning,

I don't mean it.

See you next Monday.

Namaste.
