Welcome to this Yoga Nidra for sleep and relaxation.

So because this Nidra is to invite sleep,

I won't be waking you up at the end of the practice.

So if you do need to get up,

Make sure you set an alarm.

For now,

Allow yourself to take a long,

Deep breath in,

And then settling in,

Lying down on your back,

Hugging your shoulders up so the palms comfortably face up,

Allowing the feet to fall apart,

Making sure your neck is comfortable on your pillow,

And you've got warmth of a blanket or your duvet over you.

As you settle in,

Really feather your nest,

Shuffling and moving to make it as comfortable as possible.

And as you settle down,

Taking another one of those long,

Deep breaths,

Fill the lungs,

Holding it at the very top,

And exhale out,

Release your day.

Breathing in,

Fill the lungs,

Hold it at the very top,

And exhale out.

And as we lay here,

Taking a moment to make any last minute adjustments,

And then commit to yourself that you won't move until the end of the practice,

Even if you're awake.

Really committing that sense of stillness,

Allowing your feet to relax,

Your toes,

Your ankles,

Your calves,

Your knees,

Your thighs,

Your hips,

Your lower back,

Your upper back,

Your shoulders,

Your arms,

Your palms,

Your fingers.

Letting the head and neck be soft,

Allowing the eyes to fall back into the sockets and the tongue to melt in the mouth.

Another long,

Deep breath in,

Fill the lungs,

Let go of your day and your inhale as you gently breathe out,

Releasing,

Surrendering,

And letting go.

As you relax here,

Just saying in your own mind's eye,

Three times,

I sleep with ease and awake feeling refreshed.

I sleep with ease and awake feeling refreshed.

I sleep with ease and awake feeling refreshed.

Bringing all of your focus to your ears,

And just extend your sense of hearing to outside of your room,

Noises of cars passing,

People talking,

Maybe the rustling of trees,

Maybe listening to the crickets,

The birds.

As you focus and hear a sound,

Just try not to label it,

But rather notice it as a tone or a pitch,

And then moving to the next sound,

And to the next sound,

And to the next sound.

And then allowing yourself to bring all of your attention to the sounds within the space that you're laying,

The room that you're in.

The sound of the white noise,

If there's somebody in the room beside you,

Maybe they're breathing.

The rustling of the clothes as you breathe,

Of the quilt as you breathe in and out.

What other sounds are within your room,

Within your space?

The sound of my voice.

And then allow it to drift a little bit closer,

Bringing it in to your body,

Noticing the sound of your digestive system,

Maybe the sound of your breath,

And then drifting all of your attention to your body as we move gently through a body scan,

Bringing all of your focus to your right thumb,
