Welcome to this ancient Hawaiian practice of Ho'oponopono,
A practice of forgiveness.
This meditation functions as both a communication practice for reconciliation and a tool for restoring self-love and balance.
In practice,
It works like a mantra for self-love.
The word Ho'oponopono roughly translates to cause things to move back into balance or to make things right.
So take time to settle into a relaxed meditation posture.
You can be seated in a chair with your feet on the ground.
You can be seated with the legs crossed or you can be lying down alert,
Slightly elevated so you don't fall asleep.
Take a long,
Deep breath in,
Fill the lungs as much as you possibly can.
Hold your breath and then gently exhale out through the mouth.
Let's do that again.
Breathe in,
Fill the lungs.
Then as you breathe out through the mouth,
Releasing,
Dropping the shoulders,
Softening the belly,
Finding that place of balance,
Of comfort,
Of ease.
Taking a moment to consider bringing your consciousness to the very first ancestral light of love and healing that created you.
Many eons ago,
A star was created.
And from that love,
Through your ancestors,
You arrived here,
Born perfect with our human qualities of imperfection.
The ethos of this practice is that the only way to truly heal is to take responsibilities for how we contribute in the world,
Both in our lovingness and our madness,
And to honestly believe that our true nature is love,
Recognising our own need for self-healing.
For this practice,
We'll repeat four words,
A mantra,
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
As we move through the practice,
You can either repeat this out loud or in your own mind's eye.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
As you settle in,
Imagining a mirror image of yourself in front of or beside you.
You can either imagine looking lovingly into your own eyes or perhaps holding your hand as you sit side by side.
And as you repeat the mantra,
Imagine offering each other these words of a ho'oponopono to yourself from yourself.
Offering that healing,
Loving kindness.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for doubting you,
For not seeing you as enough.
I'm sorry for taking responsibility for other people's pain while not acknowledging our own.
I'm sorry for not being fully with you,
For not trusting,
For not listening to our gut.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
Continuously repeating the mantra.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
Please forgive me,
Forgive me for not knowing how to love you,
For losing faith,
For not seeing the true beauty of you.
Forgive me please for not trusting the process,
For reacting from a place of fear.
Please forgive me for forgetting the perfection of each moment spent with you.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.

Thank you for sticking by me.
Thank you for always wanting to protect me.
For reminding me that all I have to be is myself.
Thank you for not judging me.
Thank you for being with me while I work through my stuff.
Thank you for accepting me.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.

For the compassion you show to others and to me.

For the joy you express.
I love you for the way you care for our body.
I love you.

Repeating the mantra in your mind or out loud.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
All my beautiful flaws make me the perfect vessel for compassion,
For forgiveness and for love.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
This mantra can be repeated throughout the day in your own mind as you go about your business.
Understanding that you're offering yourself that healing ho'oponopono energy to bring your life and the life of those around you back into balance.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Thank you.
Take a long deep breath in.
As you exhale gently drop your shoulders,
Relax your chin to your chest.
Softly open your eyes and gently move back into your space.
Remembering to repeat the mantra as often as you wish.
Namaste.
