Japa Mahila with the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum Settle into your own space,
Wherever you are for your meditation practice.
You may be able to sense the activities surrounding you outside your immediate space.
Bring your awareness into your body and the contact between your body and the support beneath you.
Come into the nature of your breath.
Your breath will shift with this practice,
So a lovely benchmark is just to simply notice the nature of your breath before we begin.
You don't need to change it,
Just listen to it.
Listen to the story your breath is telling you.
This practice oxygenates your system,
It expands the breath,
It lengthens and deepens the breath and you'll notice the difference at the end.
And then one final checkpoint before we start.
Lean your awareness into your heart.
This is a heart-centered meditation.
How does your heart feel right now?
Does it feel a bit heavy or tight?
Is it calm?
Perhaps it feels expectant and open.
However your heart feels,
Honor its message to you right now.
You know that your heart is aware of your attention.
Your heart is intelligent.
It knows you're thinking about it right now.
Some of you may have just felt a flutter.
And now our practice of Japa Mahala with the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum will begin.
So picking up your beads now and finding the summit bead,
Usually with a tassel at the end.
Allow your fingers to connect with the bead and we'll start our meditation with the chanting of three Oms.
Percent hym nam.

Let's emanate this vibration of compassion to all the people in our lives,
In our neighbourhoods,
Wherever you are in the world.
Let's emanate this vibration of compassion that we've invoked with three long Aum Mantras.
So when you're ready now,
Taking a lovely big breath all the way down to the belly.
Aum Aum And just before you come fully back,
Take a moment to acknowledge the effects that the Japa Mala and Aum Mani Padme Hum has had on your own state,
Your own sense of awareness,
Your own breath,
Your own heart.
Check in with yourself one more time.
Notice how you feel.
Compare it to how you felt when you started the practice.
Notice the difference.
And when you're ready now,
Maybe a bit reluctantly,
You can bring a wiggle to toes and fingers.
You can start to move gently your body,
Bringing your awareness back into form,
Into skin and bone.
You can rub your hands together,
Generate some warmth in your hands and hold warm hands over the eyes.
Some of you may be aware of an amplified light or colour or sensation of light static behind closed eyes.
Sonic practices like mantra,
Especially Japa Mala,
Raise a lot of vital life force in the system.
And this is what you may be perceiving in the form of inner light behind closed eyes,
Behind the hands.
Keeping the hands,
Covering the eyes,
Gently blink open your eyes,
Allow a little bit of light into your optic nerve.
And then when you're ready,
You can bring your hands down.
And our practice of Japa Mala with Om Mani Padme Hum is now complete.
