This is a guided gassho meditation.
Gassho means two hands coming together.
Dr.
Usui called this technique the first pillar of Reiki,
And he practiced it twice a day for 15 to 30 minutes.
Mornings and evenings,
Sit in the gassho position,
Repeat these words out loud and in your heart.
He was referring here to the words of the Reiki ideals.
This is a special meditation that we can use to attune to the spirit of Reiki.
It clears the mind,
Opens the heart,
And strengthens Reiki itself.
So come to a comfortable seated position,
Closing the eyes,
And bring your hands in prayer position,
Which is gassho,
In front of the heart,
With the thumbs touching the heart in the middle of the chest,
If that's available.
If not,
Just simply hold the palms together in prayer position somewhere in front of the heart.
We're going to begin with the five Reiki ideals.
Just for today,
I will not be angry.
So repeat these words in your mind and feel the meaning of the words.
Just for today,
I will not worry.
Just for today,
I will be grateful.
Just for today,
I will do my work honestly.
Just for today,
I will be kind to every living thing.
Now as you feel your palms together,
Begin to connect with Reiki,
The spirit of Reiki itself,
The source of Reiki,
Inviting Reiki to flow.
Focus all your attention on the point where your middle fingers meet at the top.
Take a few deep breaths,
Relax.
Maintain your awareness on these points,
These middle fingers touching there.
And if thoughts arise,
Acknowledge the thoughts,
Brush them aside,
And refocus on the point where your middle fingers meet.
Thoughts will arise.
This is absolutely normal.
This is the meditation.
Focus on the point where the middle fingers meet and to keep refocusing the mind on this point.
If it helps,
You may wish to focus on the breath flowing in and flowing out as you focus on this point where the middle fingers meet.
Feel the Reiki energy enfolding you as you meditate.
Become the empty vessel through which Reiki flows effortlessly as you bring your awareness to the point between the middle fingers there.
Relax,
Breathe.
Step out of your own way as you shift into being that empty vessel,
Reiki enfolding you in,
Through,
And around you.
If you find that your hands become tired of resting in front of the heart,
You can release your hands down in your lap,
Still in prayer position,
And continue to focus on the point where the middle fingers meet.
When the mind wanders,
Just bring it back to the point where the middle fingers meet.
Be kind to yourself.
Be compassionate.
It is normal that the mind will wander.
We will end our meditation shortly.
If you wish to continue meditating,
You can pause this recording and continue for as long as you like.
For now,
We can take a few deep breaths,
Bringing your awareness back to this moment here,
To the space around you in which you are,
Opening up your senses,
Hearing the sounds that you hear,
Feeling the temperature on your skin.
And bringing your hands in gash hole once again,
In front of the heart,
And taking a few moments to be grateful for Reiki itself.
Every time you practice this meditation,
You are strengthening your connection with Reiki.
Eventually,
Simply placing your hands in gash hole position in front of the heart will activate Reiki all by itself.
You can also take a moment to notice how you feel now,
Noticing the content of your mind.
And anything that you might notice has changed since you began this meditation.
And now take another breath in.
And as you relax and exhale,
Namaste and Reiki blessings to you.
