This Christian meditation focuses on God’s rainbow of healing light regarding the color violet which is associated with protectiveness, purification/sanctification, passion, and inspiration/creativity. Initially, scripture readings are recited as reminders of God’s Word and promises followed by a total body relaxation exercise in preparation for an ending visualization with Jesus.

Welcome to the Christian meditation,

Violet.

Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior,

Almighty Physician and Healer,

And Ruler of the universe,

Came to heal and not destroy His people.

If we believe and call on Him,

He will answer.

We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.

God's promise of non-destruction is symbolized by the colorful rainbow comprised of healing light in red,

Orange,

Yellow,

Green,

Blue,

And violet hues.

God's rainbow of light brings different facets of healing through each of His colors,

Especially the color violet.

Violet or purple is the color of royalty,

Portraying a deep,

Majestic sense of protection.

Violet has wonderful cleansing and purifying properties,

Both physically and spiritually,

While eliminating waste products and toxic material from the body,

Counterbalancing bacteria,

And reinforcing the immune system and stimulating the spleen.

Violet serves as an antiseptic.

Spiritually,

Violet calms your emotions,

Enhancing a more meditative,

Reflective state,

And strengthens your intuition,

Which helps lead you to sanctification.

The color violet also arouses passion,

Fosters creativity,

And inspires beauty and art.

The Bible says in 2 Samuel 22-3,

My God is my rock,

In whom I find protection.

He is my shield,

The strength of my salvation,

And my stronghold,

My high tower,

My savior,

The one who saves me from violence.

And in Psalm 31,

19-20,

Your goodness is so great,

You have stored up great blessings for those who honor You.

You have done so much for those who come to You for protection,

Blessing them before the watching world.

You hide them in the shelter of Your presence,

Safe from those who conspire against them.

You shelter them in Your presence,

Far from accusing tongues.

And in Psalms 91,

14-16,

The Lord says,

I will rescue those who love Me.

I will protect those who trust in My name.

When they call on Me,

I will answer.

I will be with them in trouble.

I will rescue them and honor them.

I will satisfy them with a long life and give them My salvation.

And in Psalms 51,

2-7,

Wash Me clean from My guilt,

Purify Me from My sin,

For I recognize My shameful deeds.

They haunt Me day and night.

Against You and You alone have I sinned.

I have done what is called evil in Your sight.

You will be proved right in what You say,

And Your judgment against Me is just.

For I was born a sinner,

Yes,

From the moment My mother conceived Me.

But You desire honesty from the heart,

So You can teach Me to be wise in My inmost being.

Purify Me from My sins,

And I will be clean.

Wash Me,

And I will be whiter than snow.

And in Hebrews 9,

14-15,

Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our hearts from deeds that lead to death,

So that we can worship the living God.

For by the power of the eternal Spirit,

Christ offered Himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.

That is why He is the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people,

So that all who are invited can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them.

For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.

Now in preparation to open yourself up to receive within you God's healing violet light,

Lie or sit with your spine erect,

And preferably with the back of your head supported,

In a quiet relaxed place,

Stilling your mind and soul,

And opening your heart to His will.

With your legs uncrossed,

Arms by your side,

And palms facing upward,

Close your eyes and begin to breathe deeply through your nose,

Expanding your stomach muscles as you breathe in,

And slowly contracting your stomach muscles as you exhale.

Much like an infant breathes in and out rhythmically,

Taking long,

Soft,

And smooth breaths,

Visualize that each breath fills you up like a balloon,

Allowing you to feel lighter and lighter and more buoyant.

Continue to breathe slowly and deeply throughout this relaxation period,

Letting your body soften and open.

Tune out all other thoughts,

Feel yourself settle into your body,

Breathing in relaxation,

And breathing out all tension and mental activity.

Now I will guide you through various muscles in your body,

Asking you to tense and relax those very same muscles.

Keeping your eyes closed during the entire relaxation exercise,

Begin by squeezing your eyes shut and wrinkling your forehead,

Tighter and tighter,

Holding the tension and feeling how uncomfortable the tension is.

Now relax the tension in your eyes and forehead and feel the warmth of its smoothness and allowing your eyes to remain gently and softly closed.

Notice the difference between the previous tension and soothing relaxation.

Next,

Clench your jaw,

Holding the tension and noticing the tightness it produces.

Feel the discomfort.

Continue to hold the tension in your jaw.

Hold it,

Hold it.

Now release and drop your jaw and feel the tension turn into relaxation,

A soothing warm sensation spreading throughout your entire face.

Become aware of how wonderful it feels to relax your jaw.

No tension,

Only relaxation,

Deep relaxation.

Now purse your lips tightly,

Squeezing them together,

Tighter and tighter.

Hold the tension.

Continue to hold the tension,

Feeling the tightness of your lips.

Now let go and relax your lips completely.

Notice how your entire face feels more and more relaxed,

Tranquil and smooth,

Remembering how uncomfortable tension is.

As you completely let go of the tension in your face and experience the warm,

Heavy feeling of deep relaxation,

Press your head back as far as it can safely go and experience the tension in your neck.

Slowly roll your neck to the right and notice where the tension is located.

Now slowly roll your neck to the left and notice where the strain is produced.

Next,

Straighten your neck and bring your chin forward,

Touching your chest,

Holding it there and feeling the tension.

Hold it,

Hold it.

Feel the tension in your throat and the back of your neck.

Now return your head to a comfortable position.

Feel the comfort of relaxation and how good it feels to let go of all your tension and allow your relaxation to deepen.

Next shrug your shoulders,

Bringing them up towards your ears.

Hold the tension.

Feel the tightness and discomfort increasing.

Now drop your shoulders and let all your tension go.

Feel the soothing effects of relaxation.

It feels as though you have been relieved of a heavy burden.

You can finally let go,

Allowing your muscles to release their tightness and relax.

Feels good to allow yourself to relax.

Now go deeper and deeper into relaxation.

Go with it.

Feel the warmth spreading down your arms to your elbows and then to your hands and fingers.

Now clench your fists.

Clench them tighter and tighter.

Hold it,

Hold it.

Notice how that feels in your hands,

Wrists,

Forearms,

Elbows and shoulders.

Feel the tension radiate upward.

Now release your fists and feel the looseness relaxation brings.

Notice the difference between tight tension and loose relaxation.

Next bend your elbows and tense your upper arm muscles as tightly as possible.

Notice the feeling of tightness in these muscles and feel how uncomfortable it is.

Now relax and straighten your arms.

Feel the soothing sensation of relaxation.

Go deeper and deeper into the feeling of relaxation.

Remember how uncomfortable tension is and how wonderful relaxation is.

Imagine what it would be like to be relaxed all day and not tense.

Let the relaxation deepen more and more.

Now take a deep breath and hold it.

Notice the tension in your chest.

Slowly exhale now and let all the air out.

Join your chest to become very loose and feel its release from tension,

A soothing sensation.

Once more take a deep breath and hold it in.

Now slowly exhale and let go of all your tension and mental activity as you breathe out.

Repeat this deep breathing,

Breathing in relaxation and breathing out tension.

Notice the tension that is released as you exhale.

This allows you to become more fully relaxed.

Now tighten your stomach muscles and hold attention.

Feel how uncomfortable it quickly becomes.

Now relax and allow your stomach muscles to become heavy and loose.

Go deeper and deeper into the soothing sensation of relaxation.

Feel how wonderful it feels to be relaxed.

It's okay to be relaxed.

Now arch your back,

Tensing your lower back but keeping the rest of your body as relaxed as possible.

Notice how the tension feels in your lower back.

Feel and experience it.

While holding the tension in your lower back,

Squeeze your buttocks and flex your thighs by pressing them down on your heels as hard as you can.

Hold this tension and feel the growing discomfort.

Now let go of all rigidity and feel your muscles soften.

Allow your lower back,

Buttocks and thighs to completely relax.

Begin to feel the softness in your spine,

Buttocks and thighs.

Feel the radiating relaxation to your lower legs.

Now curl your toes downward.

This will tense your calves.

Notice how the tension feels in your calves.

Hold it,

Hold it.

Now let go and relax.

Feel the difference between tension and relaxation.

Feel the goodness of relaxation.

It's softness and warmth.

Now bend your toes towards your face.

Feel the tension in your shins.

Hold the tension tighter and tighter.

Experience it.

Now let go and relax.

Feel the relaxing warmth spread from your toes to your feet,

Your ankles,

Your shins,

Your calves,

Your knees,

Thighs and buttocks.

Let the relaxation soften your spine and total skeleton.

With each deep breath,

Draw in more relaxation,

Letting go of all unnecessary tension throughout your body.

Allow the soothing relaxation to spread throughout your stomach,

Your chest,

Your arms,

Your hands,

Your shoulders,

Your neck,

Your lips,

Your jaw,

Your eyes and forehead.

Your total body is deeply relaxed.

Enjoy the heaviness and soothing sensation of relaxation.

Simply think of letting go more and more and going deeper and deeper into the warm feeling of relaxation.

Feel the goodness of relaxation.

Feel your body quieting down and opening up.

Feel yourself settle into your body.

You are deeply relaxed.

Now while keeping your eyes closed,

Using your mind's eye,

Focus your visualizing attention on the upcoming scene itself.

The attention to the body should be to imagine it calm and relaxed.

Now go to a peaceful meditative place just before the setting sun on a violent majestic mountaintop far above the noisy and bustling activities of everyday life where you can survey all the beauty and wonders of the earth below and the vast heavens above.

While sitting on a cool rock,

You are awed by the still quietness that surrounds you.

As you listen more closely,

You hear the wind and feel its gentle breeze massage you as it travels across your body.

Looking outward,

You note the setting sun casting a gorgeous burst of red and orange before it sinks below distant violet mountain peaks and the shadows of the deep purple sky emerge.

The stars appear one by one in the heavens above,

Twinkling stars of light and inspiration spread out across the endless deep purple sky.

As you close your eyes and quiet your mind and your breathing,

You reach a more meditative state and begin to sense the closeness of God.

Minutes pass in the uncomfortable silence.

When you open your eyes,

Jesus is standing before you carrying a most beautiful deep purple robe.

He extends this purple robe to you and then lovingly adorns you in its purple majesty,

Its richness of shape and purple color is amazing.

Feel the protective cleansing and purifying power of Jesus Christ deep within you as his purple robe touches and envelops you.

Be sensitive to his healing and creative powers.

Jesus knows your sorrows and loves your abilities and your inadequacies,

Your desires and your fears.

Now settle down and nestle on the ground by Jesus covered with his protective purple robe.

Spend some time in meditation and prayer with him.

Let Jesus release your fears one by one.

Now let him release your creative spirit.

Feel the inspiration begin to sparkle within you,

Turning into a dramatic passion you cannot contain.

Allow your creative spirit to flourish and take you to limitless places within the everlasting,

Protective,

Cleansing,

Purifying and sanctifying purple robe of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Whenever you wish,

Slowly bring yourself back and open your eyes,

Remaining calm,

Relaxed and renewed.

Amen.

You you
