This Christian meditation focuses on God’s rainbow of healing light regarding the color green which is associated with peace, centering/grounding, relaxation, and balance/equilibrium/harmony. Initially, scripture readings are recited as reminders of God’s Word and promises followed by a total body relaxation exercise in preparation for an ending visualization with Jesus.

Welcome to the Christian Meditation Green.

Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior,

Almighty Physician and Healer and Ruler of the universe,

Came to heal and not destroy His people.

If we believe and call on Him,

He will answer.

We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.

God's promise of non-destruction is symbolized by the colorful rainbow comprised of healing light in red,

Orange,

Yellow,

Green,

Blue and violet hues.

God's rainbow of light brings different facets of healing through each of His colors,

Especially the color green.

Green can balance your heart physically and emotionally and provide you with physical equilibrium and relaxation.

Green is the most relaxing color to the eyes in mind because the cones of light that are sensitive to green are situated directly in the middle of the retina of the eye,

Allowing the light to fall into the center of the eye.

The color green relaxes the muscles in your chest,

Helping you to breathe more slowly and deeply.

Green also regulates your circulation and stimulates your pituitary gland.

Green symbolizes life and growth,

Giving you a grounded,

Centered and peaceful feeling.

The Bible says in Job 14,

7-9,

If a tree is cut down,

There is hope that it will sprout again and grow new branches.

Though its roots have grown old in the earth and its stump decays,

At the scent of water it may bud and sprout again like a new seedling.

And in Isaiah 61,

3,

To all who mourn in Israel,

He will give beauty for ashes,

Joy instead of mourning,

Praise instead of despair,

For the Lord has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory.

In Ezekiel 31,

5-7,

This great tree towered above all the other trees around it.

It prospered and grew,

Long thick branches because of all the water at its roots.

The birds nested in its branches,

And in its shade all the wild animals gave birth to their young.

All the great nations of the world lived in its shadow.

It was strong and beautiful,

For its roots went deep into abundant water.

Then Jesus said,

Come to me,

All of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,

And I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you.

Let me teach you,

Because I am humble and gentle.

You will find rest for your souls.

And in Matthew 11,

28-30,

For my yoke fits perfectly,

And the burden I give you is light.

And in John 14,

27,

I am leaving you with a gift,

Peace of mind and heart.

And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives,

So don't be troubled or afraid.

And in Romans 8,

6,

If your sinful nature controls your mind,

There is death,

But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind,

There is life and peace.

And in Philippians 4,

6-7,

Don't worry about anything.

But pray about everything.

Tell God what you need,

And thank Him for all He has done.

If you do this,

You will experience God's peace,

Which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.

His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Now in preparation to open yourself to receive within you God's healing green light,

Liars sit with your spine erect,

And preferably with the back of your head supported,

In a quiet,

Relaxed place,

Stilling your mind and soul and opening your heart to His will.

With your legs uncrossed,

Arms by your side,

And palms facing upward,

Close your eyes and begin to breathe deeply through your nose,

Expanding your stomach muscles as you breathe in,

And slowly contracting your stomach muscles as you exhale.

Much like an infant breeze,

In and out rhythmically,

Taking long,

Soft and smooth breaths.

Visualize that each breath fills you up like a balloon,

Allowing you to feel lighter and lighter and more buoyant.

Continue to breathe slowly and deeply throughout this relaxation period,

Letting your body soften and open.

Tune out all other thoughts.

Feel yourself settle into your body,

Breathing in relaxation and breathing out all tension and mental activity.

Now I will guide you through various muscles in your body,

Asking you to tense and relax those very same muscles,

Keeping your eyes closed during the entire relaxation exercise.

Begin by squeezing your eyes shut and wrinkling your forehead,

Tighter and tighter,

Holding the tension and feeling how uncomfortable the tension is.

Now release the tension in your eyes and forehead and feel the warmth of its smoothness and allowing your eyes to remain gently and softly closed.

Notice the difference between the previous tension and soothing relaxation.

Next,

Clench your jaw,

Holding the tension and noticing the tightness it produces.

Feel the discomfort.

Continue to hold the tension in your jaw.

Hold it.

Hold it.

Now release and drop your jaw and feel the tension turn into relaxation,

A soothing,

Warm sensation,

Spreading throughout your entire face.

Become aware of how wonderful it feels to relax your jaw.

No tension,

Only relaxation,

Deep relaxation.

Now purse your lips tightly,

Squeezing them together,

Tighter and tighter.

Hold the tension.

Continue to hold the tension,

Feeling the tightness of your lips.

Now let go and relax your lips completely.

Notice how your entire body feels more and more relaxed,

Tranquil and smooth,

Remembering how uncomfortable tension is.

As you completely let go of the tension in your face and experience the warmth,

Heavy feeling of deep relaxation,

Press your head back as far as it can safely go and experience the tension in your neck.

Slowly roll your neck to the right and notice where the tension is located.

Now slowly roll your neck to the left and notice where the strain is produced.

Next,

Straighten your neck and bring your chin forward,

Touching your chest,

Holding it there and feeling the tension.

Hold it.

Hold it.

Feel the tension in your throat and the back of your neck.

Now return your head to a comfortable position.

Feel the comfort of relaxation and how good it feels to let go of all tension and allow your relaxation to deepen.

Next,

Shrug your shoulders,

Bringing them up towards your ears.

Hold the tension.

Feel the tightness and discomfort increasing.

Now drop your shoulders and let all your tension go.

Feel the soothing effects of relaxation.

It feels as though you have been relieved of a heavy burden.

You can finally let go,

Allowing your muscles to release their tightness and relax.

It feels good to allow yourself to relax.

Now go deeper and deeper into relaxation.

Go with it.

Feel the warmth spreading down your arms to your elbows and then to your hands and fingers.

Now clench your fists.

Clench them tighter and tighter.

Hold it.

Hold it.

Notice how that feels in your hands,

Wrists,

Forearms,

Elbows and shoulders.

Feel the tension radiate upward.

Now release your fists and feel the looseness relaxation brings.

Notice the difference between tight tension and loose relaxation.

Next,

Bend your elbows and tense your upper arm muscles as tightly as you can.

Notice the feeling of tightness in these muscles and feel how uncomfortable it is.

Now relax and straighten your arms.

Feel the soothing sensation of relaxation.

Go deeper and deeper into the feeling of relaxation.

Remember how uncomfortable tension is and how wonderful relaxation is.

Imagine what it would be like to be relaxed all day and not tense.

Let the relaxation deepen more and more.

Now take a deep breath and hold it.

Notice the tension in your chest.

Slowly exhale now and let all the air out,

Allowing your chest to become very loose and feel its release from tension,

A soothing sensation.

Once more,

Take a deep breath and hold it.

Now slowly exhale and let go of all your tension and mental activity as you breathe out.

Repeat this deep breathing,

Breathing in relaxation and breathing out tension.

Notice the tension that is released as you exhale.

This allows you to become more fully relaxed.

Now tighten your stomach muscles and hold the tension.

Feel how uncomfortable it quickly becomes.

Now relax and allow your stomach muscles to become heavy and loose.

Go deeper and deeper into the soothing sensation of relaxation.

Feel how wonderful it feels to be relaxed.

It's okay to be relaxed.

Now arch your back,

Tensing your lower back but keeping the rest of your body as relaxed as possible.

Notice how the tension feels in your lower back.

Feel and experience it while holding the tension in your lower back.

Squeeze your buttocks and flex your thighs by pressing them down on your heels as hard as you can.

Hold this tension and feel the growing discomfort.

Now let go of all rigidity and feel your muscles soften.

Allow your lower back,

Buttocks and thighs to completely relax.

Begin to feel the softness in your spine,

Buttocks and thighs.

Feel the radiating relaxation to your lower legs.

Now curl your toes downward.

This will tense your calves.

Notice how the tension feels in your calves.

Hold it,

Hold it.

Now let go and relax.

Feel the difference between tension and relaxation.

Feel the goodness of relaxation.

It's softness and warmth.

Now bend your toes toward your face.

Feel the tension in your shins.

Hold the tension tighter and tighter.

Experience it.

Now let go and relax.

Feel the relaxing warmth spread from your toes to your feet.

Your ankles,

Your shins,

Your calves,

Your knees,

Thighs and buttocks.

Let the relaxation soften your spine and total skeleton.

With each deep breath,

Draw in more relaxation,

Letting go of all unnecessary tension throughout your body.

Allow the soothing relaxation to spread throughout your stomach,

Your chest,

Your arms,

Your hands,

Your shoulders,

Your neck,

Your lips,

Your jaw,

Your eyes and forehead.

Your total body is deeply relaxed.

Enjoy the heaviness and soothing sensation of relaxation.

Simply think of letting go more and more,

Going deeper and deeper into the warm feeling of relaxation.

Feel the goodness of relaxation.

Feel your body quieting down and opening up.

Feel yourself settle into your body.

You are deeply relaxed.

Now while keeping your eyes closed,

Using your mind's eye,

Focus your visualizing attention on the upcoming scene itself.

Any attention to the body should be to imagine it calm and relaxed.

Imagine a gorgeous emerald green garden with a thick green plush carpet of grass welcoming you with its open large iron and stone gate.

As you pass through the open gate and enter the fragrant beautiful verdant green garden of long stemmed ferns,

Tropical bushes and flowering plants,

You notice to your right a brook of streaming crystal clear water.

You are attracted to the babbling sound it makes as the stream cascades down the rocks.

Then your attention is drawn over the field of unusually green and healthy grass to the center of this peaceful,

Spectacularly green garden of lush foliage.

There stands a large gnarly oak tree.

Its tall,

Sturdy trunk,

Supported by a web of thick and deeply embedded roots,

Is embellished with a network of uniquely shaped branches and their umbrella-like awning of green broad leaves.

You admire this graceful oak tree,

So tall and strong,

Steady by its vast and deep roots,

In full bloom with its dense forest green canopy of glistening plump green leaves where birds come and find shelter in its branches.

As you continue to bask in the awesomeness of this huge oak tree,

You have almost become unaware of a figure sitting on the solid sheet of green grass under the shade of the oak's green leafy cover.

You step closer and recognize the figure as Jesus.

Jesus motions you to sit and join him under the spreading oak tree.

As you sit on the luscious,

Cool green grass near the oak's broad and sturdy trunk,

You admire its lengthy and deep roots,

Supporting a vast array of wide limbs growing out above your head and embellished with the most brilliant green leaves you have ever seen.

You face Jesus and begin to feel his supernatural peace,

The peace that surrounds him and centers him.

It is an endearing,

Deeply grounded peace that gives you a sense of balance and wholeness.

As Jesus remains silent,

You feel content,

Not to speak,

And to just feel his presence,

Grounding you with a peace that passes all understanding.

This peace is deep,

Calm,

Smooth,

And very relaxing.

You begin to feel your ease of respiration along with an ease of your mind.

Any worries are far removed from your concern.

You are centering yourself on Jesus,

Feeling his peace and healing presence root itself in the center of your body and branching out to all of its parts.

Jesus Christ is the center of your life.

As you root yourself in him,

You will grow whole and complete,

Balanced and at peace,

Grounded and secure in his love for you.

Amen.

Whenever you wish,

Slowly bring yourself back and open your eyes,

Remaining calm,

Relaxed,

And renewed.

You are the center of your life.

Amen.

You you you
