In southern Arizona,
We have a monsoon season each year,
And it's actually classified as its own season.
The monsoon season begins when prevailing winds shift from west to southeast,
Bringing moisture in from the Gulf.
In the afternoons,
We see giant clouds form.
These clouds regularly give way to strong winds and heavy downpours in a short amount of time,
Lightning,
And flash flooding.
That might sound terrifying to some,
But it isn't.
In fact,
It's beautiful.
These sometimes violent storms bring us the bulk of our natural yearly rainfall and make wildflowers abound everywhere.
Once the storms subside,
The smell of creosote fills the air like incense,
And the aroma is nothing short of divine.
People head outside en masse for an afterstorm walk to enjoy an almost instant cool down in the middle of summer.
Therein lies the real and undeniable magic of this season,
An entire community coming together for the enjoyment of something so spectacular that it transcends all differences and divisions.
That's nature's message to us at this time.
The creosote bush has magical properties that aid in the purification of spaces.
Its essence is known to bring about harmony and balance.
By the way it thrives in such an arid climate,
Creosote symbolizes the body's ability to heal,
And it represents fresh starts.
This is exactly the energy we will be calling upon during this sound bath.
I invite you to join me in sending harmony,
Balance,
Fresh starts,
And unity to all people in all places.
Let us be the rain that brings compassion,
Comfort,
And promise to every parched landscape we encounter.
Goddess bring the rain down,
Giving life unto the ground,
Energy to feed the seed,
A healthy harvest bring with speed.
Cleanse the earth with rain from above,
Bringing to all people peace and love.
Goddess bring the rain down.
The crow flies from me to thee,
To send the message,
Blessed be.
