Are you ready to meditate with Cori?
Climb up into your bed and get super,
Super comfortable.
Make sure that you try and stay still and quiet as you listen to the story.
And that way your muscles and your body can start to relax.
Hopefully,
You'll fall fast asleep and have the bestest dreams.
Tucker had noticed when they went out on their walks that three doors down,
New people had moved in.
They had a dog.
Tucker wanted to meet the dog.
Leo,
It's exciting!
It's so exciting when there's new people and new doggies and new cats and new kids on the street.
It makes life very interesting.
And I've been a little bit bored with my walks lately,
Haven't you,
Leo?
Leo said.
Well,
No,
Not really,
Because I don't really enjoy the walks anyway.
Mum makes us go too far sometimes.
Oh,
Leo,
Leo,
Stop being so antisocial.
You have to go out and play,
You know.
You have to be with the doggies,
You have to be with the people,
You have to meet kids and lick them,
Because kids always taste so nice.
Leo said.
Tell me about the people.
What did they look like?
What was the dog like?
I don't know,
Leo.
It was like a medium-sized dog.
And it looked like it was like one of those labrapoodly doodly things,
You know,
The curly doggies.
It got curly hair.
And I could tell,
I could tell just by smelling when we walked past their house that this doggie was a girl.
And,
And she smelled delicious.
She smelled like peaches and raspberries.
So I wonder if that's her shampoo or whether that's because she likes to eat peaches and raspberries,
Or maybe it's her perfume.
Leo said.
Well,
You know,
Abby and Elizabeth Lynn are coming round later.
Maybe they'll take us for a walk and you can show me which house it is.
Tooka said.
Oh,
Yay,
Yay,
Yes,
Yes,
Definitely.
When Abby and Elizabeth Lynn came round later,
They were supposed to be doing a project together.
Abby and Elizabeth had got an assignment from school.
You had to buy five different dog bones and try the dog bones with a dog to see which bone the dogs liked the most and why you think they liked it,
How much they were,
What kind of texture they were,
What kind of bone they were,
And all of that stuff.
It was part of a school homework project.
When Abby had asked Tooka and Leo about it,
They happily agreed that they would be test models.
Before they did anything with the bones,
Tooka said,
Oh,
We're so glad you're here,
Girls.
We're so glad you're here.
We have a different project that we need to do also today.
We need to go for a walk.
We need to go for a walk and we need to go past our new neighbours because I would like to go meet their new doggie because I think we would be friends.
And I promise I will not chew on that doggie.
I promise I will not.
Tooka was holding one of his paws over his heart.
I promise on my heart I will not eat the puppy.
I've got so good at not eating the puppies,
Ain't I,
Leo?
Leo said,
Yeah,
You have got better,
Tooka.
I think it's because I'm getting more mature and definitely more sensible.
Well,
Maybe not sensible,
Leo said.
No,
Tooka,
Definitely not more sensible.
Abbey and Elizabeth Lynn put the dog leads on the dogs and took them out for the walk.
It only took two minutes to get three houses down from where they lived.
And Tooka said,
This is it.
This is the house.
Sniff it,
Leo.
Sniff it.
Leo smelled the grass all around the house.
Tooka was running to one piece of the grass and then another piece of the grass and then another piece of the grass.
He turned around to Leo and said,
Can you smell her?
Can you smell her?
She smells like peaches,
Doesn't she,
Leo?
She smells like peaches with the faintest hint of raspberry.
Leo said,
Yeah,
Yeah,
She does.
Smells nice.
She's definitely a girl.
I can smell she's a girl because her pee has a particular girl flavor.
Leo sniffed again.
Yep,
Yep.
So what are you going to do about it,
Tooka?
I am going to be brave and I'm going to go and ring the bell.
Leo said,
You are?
Tooka said,
Should I not?
Leo said,
Well,
Well,
That is really brave.
Tooka said,
Oh,
I'm not afraid.
I like new friends.
I like new puppies.
I like new people.
I like new children.
I like new kitties.
I like rabbits and I even like chickens.
I really liked it when mum had chickens,
But she doesn't have chickens anymore.
And I miss those little chug chugs.
Leo stood back.
Elizabeth Lynn said,
You OK,
Leo?
Leo said,
No,
I'm a bit nervous.
Abby said,
Don't be nervous,
Leo.
It's OK.
It's just a new friend.
I don't really know how to make new friends,
Said Leo.
I get really shy.
Abby said,
Oh,
I totally get it.
It can be really difficult making new friends.
You get so nervous.
What if they don't like you?
What if you say something weird?
What if you,
Like,
Embarrass yourself and they really think you're strange or something?
Leo said,
Yeah,
Exactly,
Abby.
Elizabeth Lynn said,
Well,
My mum always says that you just have to try.
Just be friendly.
Say things to people in a friendly way and act like you're interested in them.
Ask them questions,
Maybe like,
Hi,
What's your name?
Where are you from?
What do you like to do?
Oh,
I like that too.
And then you might find that you've got things in common with them.
Leo said,
Well,
Yeah,
That's a good idea.
Tucker said,
Come on,
Let's go ring the bell.
Let's go ring the bell,
Leo.
Let's be brave together.
Leo said,
Oh,
I don't think I'm ready for that,
Tucker.
Tucker said,
Come on,
Leo.
I'm with you.
I'm right there with you.
And I think she'll be a nice new friend.
You never know.
She might be our new bestest friend.
And she only lives three hours down,
Leo.
That means we could play with her all the time.
Abby said,
Come on,
We'll go with you,
Leo.
We'll take you both to the door.
Abby,
Elizabeth Lynn,
Tucker,
And Leo all walked to their neighbour's door.
Leo was shaking a little bit.
Oh,
I feel a bit strange,
He said.
Oh,
I feel a bit nauseous.
I feel a bit sick.
Maybe we should do this another day,
Tucker said.
No,
Leo.
No,
Leo.
No,
It's OK.
Just take a deep breath.
Just take a deep breath.
And think to yourself,
What's the worst thing that this new puppy can say?
No.
No,
Thank you.
Go away.
Right?
They're probably the worstest things that this new puppy can say.
And that's OK.
That's not so bad,
Is it?
It's not like,
You're horrible.
Or,
Oh,
My goodness,
You smell.
Or,
Oh,
Go away,
You're so ugly.
It's not none of those horrible things,
Is it,
Leo?
It's just,
No.
No,
Thank you.
I don't want to play.
And then we'll say,
OK,
Well,
We live three hours up.
And if you ever want to change your mind,
We will definitely be your friend.
We know lots of parks.
We know the dog parks.
We know the beaches.
We know lots of places to go,
Even though my mum and dad won't take me because I eat puppies.
But don't you worry.
I won't eat you,
My little puppy.
I have been so much better at not eating puppies.
Leo said,
OK,
OK,
We'll try.
He stood further back than Tucker.
Elizabeth Lynn pressed on the doorbell.
Ring the bell,
Elizabeth,
Ring the bell,
Said Tucker.
The doorbell rang.
Ding dong.
A lady opened the door.
She had blonde hair.
She was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt.
She said,
Hello.
Elizabeth Lynn said,
We were just wondering if our dogs could meet your dog.
Apparently,
You just moved in and they would like to make friends with your dog.
The lady looked at Tucker and Leo,
And Tucker started to run around in circles,
Chasing his tail.
Are your dogs friendly,
Said the lady.
Leo grimaced.
Tucker,
Don't do anything silly.
Tucker,
Under his breath,
Said to Leo,
I won't,
I won't.
I promise,
Leo,
I promise.
I might just sniff her and I might give her a little lick.
I could just give her a little taste because she does smell so nice.
Those peaches,
I wonder,
I wonder if she tastes like peaches or if she just smells like peaches.
Leo said,
Don't even think about it,
Tucker.
You have to respect people's personal space.
OK,
OK,
OK,
Said Tucker.
He smiled at the lady,
His biggest smile that he had.
So he looked super friendly.
And Leo smiled a little bit,
Still very nervous.
Sally,
She shouted.
Sally,
Come here,
Sally,
Sally.
Sally came to the front door.
Tucker was right.
She was like a labradoodle or something like that.
She was beige,
Golden-y colour,
Similar to Leo.
All curly-haired,
Curly ears and a really sweet face with brown eyes.
She was wagging her tail a lot.
Tucker started wagging his tail.
Leo wagged his tail a little bit.
These puppies want to meet you,
Sally.
Sally stepped outside.
Tucker instantly went to sniff on her.
He sniffed all over her face.
Sniffed her body.
Sniffed her bum.
Sniffed her back.
Sniffed her tail.
Sniffed everything.
She smells so nice.
Sally said,
Are you talking about me?
Oh,
Sorry.
Sorry.
Yes.
Hello,
Sally.
My name is Tucker.
And this is my brother,
Leo.
And Leo is very shy.
And I'm a very,
Very happily aggressive kind of doggy.
And forgive me if I entered into your personal puppy space.
My brother said that I am supposed to ask about personal puppy space.
But,
You know,
I forgot then because I was just overtaken by the smell of peaches.
Sally said,
Oh,
That's my shampoo.
Mum washes me every week and she uses this shampoo that smells so nice.
Do you like it?
She lifted up one of her legs and let Tucker sniff it.
Tucker sniffed.
Oh,
Yes.
It's so nice.
I wonder if your mummy would tell my mummy where she gets that shampoo from.
And maybe my mummy could wash me and Leo with that shampoo because it smells so nice.
And then when I laid next to Leo,
He wouldn't smell like a sweaty old rug.
Sorry,
Leo.
He'd smell just like peaches.
Leo said,
Thanks,
Tucker.
Sally started laughing.
She walked over to Leo and sniffed his face.
You don't smell like an old rug.
You smell like trees.
Oh,
Said Leo.
And he blushed a little bit.
Trees?
Yes.
She sniffed him again.
Yes,
You smell like oak trees.
Very calming.
Oh,
Said Leo.
Thanks.
And then she sniffed Tucker.
You smell like maple syrup.
I smell like maple syrup?
Tucker sniffed his own armpit.
You think I smell like maple syrup?
She sniffed him again.
Yeah,
You do.
You smell like maple syrup.
Or like brown sugar.
Oh,
I smell like brown sugar.
That's nice.
How come I smell like brown sugar and he smells like oak trees?
I don't know,
Sally said.
Everyone just has their own smell,
Don't they?
Tucker sniffed his pits again.
Brown sugar.
Oh,
I like that.
I like brown sugar.
I think smelling like brown sugar would mix very nice with peaches.
Peaches and brown sugar?
Smells like we should make a pie.
Leo said,
I don't think trees belong in pies.
All of a sudden,
Leo felt a little bit left out.
Sally saw that.
She was very smart.
She said,
Oh,
No,
Trees belong everywhere.
Definitely not with pie.
But,
You know,
You always need a good tree because they're so solid and dependable.
Leo smiled.
And then the three dogs ran onto the little bit of grass and chased each other around for a little bit.
And Leo was very happy.
He felt very comfortable with Sally.
He felt as comfortable with Sally as he had with quite a few dogs in the past.
Not that many,
Though,
Because most dogs Leo didn't really like.
He felt uncomfortable around and he wasn't fussed,
So he would just ignore them.
But Sally,
He liked.
She was comfortable and she did smell like a peach pie.
And that made her feel very warm and friendly to be around.
Tucker didn't have any trouble being around her.
He thought she was delicious.
And she was fun.
And she was smart.
And she was brave.
And she was really comfortable.
Easy to be friends with.
They ended up playing on the garden with a ball while the girls chatted to Sally's mum for about ten minutes.
They had a lot of fun.
And Tucker didn't try and eat her once.
He didn't get angry.
He didn't get aggressive.
He didn't try and chew on her or anything.
He instantly liked her.
It was awesome.
The dogs had a new friend called Sally.
And she lived three houses down.
And they would go and see her quite often.
Every time Tucker and Leo's mum took them for a walk,
If she was out,
They would play with her for a little bit.
But Leo and Tucker definitely sniffed on their garden ever such a lot.
And they would make sure to pee on there about ten or twenty times.
Just to let Sally know that they'd been there.
Sometimes it can be quite difficult to make friends.
New friends.
You get all shy and embarrassed.
Or nervous about whether they'll like you or not.
But if you don't try,
Then how will you know?
Leo was very brave and he tried.
And he rang the bell.
He went for it.
And luckily it worked out really well.
Sometimes you might go for it and they might say,
No,
Don't want to be your friend.
And you just say,
OK,
That's fine.
Doesn't mean you have to stop trying.
And it doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you.
It just means that person didn't want to be your friend.
And that's OK,
Right?
We don't have to take it personal.
After Abby and Elizabeth Lynn had walked the dogs,
They did their school project.
Tucker and Leo both liked the same bone best.
Eating five bones was no problem at all.
And the girls got their project finished and their homework done and it was all ready for school.
And then they left.
Tucker and Leo laid on their big dog bed.
They snuggled into each other and talked about Sally,
Their friend.
Tucker said,
I'm so proud of you,
Leo.
I'm so proud.
You were very brave.
Leo said,
Thank you.
And he also said,
I'm proud of you,
Tucker,
Because you didn't eat Sally.
Tucker said,
Thank you,
Leo.
Thank you.
She does smell delicious.
The end.
